Subject: Hip-Hop Specialist Round 6 (Missy Elliott) Entry Thread (4-25-11)

Round 6: The Queen of Hip-Hop, Missy Elliott!
General Rules:
1. Entry must be submitted by replying to the entry thread by the set deadline or it is ineligible for the contest.
2. All entrants must read and comment on every entry. If not done then the entrant is disqualified.
3. All entrants must vote by replying to a seperate voting thread to the contest. This must be done before the voting deadline or the entrant will be disqualified.
4. Votes will be cast using a point system. You pick your favorite 5 parodies and place them 1-5. 1st (5pts), 2nd (4pts), 3rd (3pts), 4th (2pts), 5th (1pt).
5. You may not vote for your own parody.
6. At the end of the voting period, the points will be tallied, and the parody with the most points wins.
7. If there is a points tie, the parody that got the most first place votes will be the winner. And so on and so forth in the case of multiple ties
8. If you are disqualified from a round for any reason you maynot participate in the following round.

Hey, I was thinkin' that maybe a little further into the year I might start an R&B contest as well. Personally I love competing in all these contest and I really enjoy the writing challenges they present to me. So what do you guys think about this idea? I know that this may cause some time constraints and I understand if it's too time consuming. I can always wait until the HHS is over.

I was thinking about doing a Heavy Metal one... I'm personally not a fan at all of R&B so I probably wouldn't be joining in if you decided to have that one.

I was thinking of a "Let's Just Call It Pop" contest. Specifically, I feel that today's big artists like Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Usher and all of that utilize a blend of many different musical genres that makes it hard to pin down just what they're doing. Maybe it will be the first contest I run! That would be wacky, wouldn't it?
Anyway, Missy Elliot. I'm not gonna do "Work It", because I'm doing the Epic 40 in order, and that'd be jumping the gun considering I'm still on Level 7 (Baby Got Back 2/3rds done, BTW). I think I'll take a crack at "Get Ur Freak On", considering it's apparently one of the most mashed-up tracks in the mashup community, to the point that one forum is even named "Get Ur Bootleg On". Srsly. What I'll do with it, though, is something that I'll figure out later...
