Subject: Ages of Amiright (Round 6: Entries Due 12/22/11)

Written By: Matthias on 12/02/11 at 3:53 pm

"Ages of Amiright"
Round: 6

Topic: History

http://media.dexigner.com/article/16908/The_History_Channel_Brand.jpg

Decade: 2005-2011

http://dogandponyshowwebsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/2000.gif

(If you need help figuring out what songs came out at that time period. Longbored Surfer can help you out there: http://longboredsurfer.com/charts/)
(Of course any song from that time period counts not just these certain songs. So if you want to do something obscure be my guest).

Here are the few rules that this contest has...

1. Make sure that your song has something to do with the topic (That's why it's there for)
2. Make sure your song is from that half decade (If you don't know ask)
3. Make sure that you get it done in the time limit given (Which is two weeks from today)
4. Make sure to post it here when it's uploaded on Amiright
5. Have fun with it

Deadline: December 16th

I'm totally going to parody a Lady Gaga song for this round. Simply because she's the best artist of this half decade and I haven't done a parody by her yet! Which is an outrage!

Well, this round is right up my alley, what with my shelf of Horrible Histories books and the fact that I only really started paying attention to music in this half of the decade...SO MANY OPTIONS.

This is a great round. I love the 2000's and History is my favorite, but since I'll be on vacation, I won't have time to come up with a parody on time, even if I do get back.

This round will more than likely be extended. Every other round has  ;)

Soo...what would fit in the the category of "history"? Let's say someone, not me, has an idea for a parody about a particular film from the 80's tells the wonderful tale of two high school students who go back into history to pick up historical figures to pass their history class...would that be an acceptable entry?

Bill and Ted totally counts! And so does Doc and Marty! And Doctor Who. I thought you didn't watch movies Abbott...  ;)

It's weird that my first two ideas both involved Nazis. The first involved Busta Rhymes, so eff that. Stay tuned for ""Bad 'Tash" to the tune of "Price Tag" by Jessie J. If that falls through, I may turn "Grace Kelly" to "Ned Kelly". Props if you know who that is.

I hope this isn't you calling dibs on "Bill And Ted" because thinking about your post got working on an idea for Kid Cudi's "Day And Night".

"Bill And Ted, Bill And Ted
The Washed Up Rockers
Go grab folks who're dead"

I don't want to steal your topic or anything so if you still want to do the whole Bill and Ted parody I can work on something else. Perhaps Robin Hood Men In Tights or 300 or something.

Haha, it actually was...sorry. I don't know much about history, but Bill and Ted is one of my favorite movies ;D...you can still do yours, I'm kind of intrigued to see what yours looks like. Although I would love to see a Robin Hood Men in Tights parody too...so it's your call haha.

Nah, It's cool. You stick with your Bill And Ted (perhaps I'll write my Kid Cudi song some other time). I'll go back to the drawing board and find something "Back To The Future" related I can play around with.

I really want to do a parody of "Here It Goes Again" by OK Go. I've got a few ideas buzzing around in my head. One about the Egyptian Slaves building the Pyramids and the other is a tribute to Thomas Edison.

Hi this is Christie...live from Florida posting via cell phone. I will still need time to come up with a parody. Is there a possibility that you could extend till the 21st of this month? I should be able to be back before then. Whatever you guys think is up to you.      Thanks, CMM

A week extension seems to be the way things are going so yeah that's not a problem with me.

Still working on mine, but you try working on a parody and a 50 page visual identity manual at the same time...haha. Just kidding, the manual is due Thursday, so I would have had the parody done in time...but I'm not objecting to the extension.

"Grenade" by Bruno Mars, converted to "Enslaved" coming to an AmIRight site near you for either the next day or Wednesday. It's about Slave Labor and also the following of Emancipation Proclamation.

So Abbott needed another day. Well, Matt, even though I did submit mine already, I may have to resubmit my parody again to revise, since I screwed up on the pacing on the second and third to the last stanza.  :( I'm sorry. All I'll have to do is to add a few words to them to match the pacing, the rest I did is fine.

I had actually originally intended to use that idea before I wrote the one I submitted. I just could't get an idea off of that one. Can't wait to read your's!

I'll have the revised version of "Enslaved" submitted for this contest the next day. Not only did I have to clean up the pacing issues, but I had to clarify my references as well since I noticed that the top comments were messy with the footnoted numbers scattered across them. I also added additional references to the parody I included in my footnotes.
