Whitney, huh?

Right after Bob Marley... I think you're media player has been popping something lately. To have two people famous for their drug use back to back. Too bad we already had the Willie Nelson round, I could have predicted what would be next!

More concerning to me it's obsessed with artists I haven't parodied lately and dead ones. . .RIP Whitney and Marley

If you want to parody "The Greatest Love Of All" as I did, I suggest you use this video as your guide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbp6W4N1N9s. The video on VIMEO doesnt have the full song.

I actually count it as one of the Houston tunes I like. I was going to eviscerate the song itself in a sort of metacommentary...but when I found out in my research that the lyrics were written  by Linda Creed after a struggle with breast cancer I couldnt bring myself to be mean to it...I then wrote a parody in the voice of someone who is singing this song but has no thought to its meaning and makes it an excuse for vocal pyrotechnics.

Even though I called it the "Lamest Song Of All" my parody was more of a mockery of R&B than that particular song but even though it was about a person struggling with Breast Cancer it's still pretty horrible just from a lyrical stand-point. "I believe children are the future", "learning to love yourself" a lot of the lines in there are so tacky it's pitiful. You think a famous songwriter would be able to write a song better than that.

learning to love yourself is very difficult for some people, I would know. . .I haven't read it yet, but Red Ant sang a song with this title to Whitney's version at the convention as well. . .it was pretty funny then, even though I personally like the original and don't have a particular problem with an occasional lame lyric (I mean, at least it's not like some of the 50s hits that'd have 8 short verse lines and repeat a short chorus 5 times in 3 minutes. . .or most of today's pop songs that have slightly longer verses, and repeat slightly longer choruses more than 5 times with slight variations to make it sound like they aren't doing what they are doing. . .) but I digress I will judge it when I read it, but having already heard Red Ant do this title live and impromptu so well. . .well--you were there, you know, but yours might be significantly different, we shall see:)

Yeah... I remember the "Hiney Hamster" and "Annie Are You Okay?" but not this one so much that's why I parodied it... Hope it stands up to Red Ant's version that you remembered.
