This is a pic of me ( feeding the lamb) with my mom and sis behind me at “Frontier Town”. Thinking this is from 1969 or 1970, so I posted it in the 70s topic . A theme park, Frontier town closed many years ago. We visited it every year from the late 1960s till the early 1970s. It was located in North Hudson New York, in the Adirondack mountains. Maybe some of you have heard of it or visited such a place before.

I am sure I have been there. We used to do all of those theme parks, Storyland (which is not the Great Escape), Santa's Village, etc. etc.
BTW, you were a cute little boy.

Thanks. We also visited Storyland & Santa's Village. As a child, that was my opportunity to visit the U.S. I can't even imagine how much a theme park like those would charge today. My guess is between the $30 and $50 range.
Those were fun times.

Yup. There were 6 kids in my family. For my parents to get us into those places at the time, they would have to have been fairly inexpensive.
We also went to Expo '69 in Montreal so it is interesting how you came to my country about that time & I went to yours in the same time frame.

You invaded Canada and I invaded the USA. Unlike the war of 1812, I didn't burn down the White House.
We also visted Expo in Montreal, but that was in 1967. I was so small I do not remember much of that trip. However, they kept pavillions open during the summer time throughout the late 60s and the 70s. It was called "Man and his world" and we did visit it again after 1967, I can't remember what year.

I lived in Upstate NY for the first 8 years of my life (moved back when I was 15-and left when I was 19th). Never lived in NH but did live in Mass & Conn. I also lived in Md, VA, Ok & Tx & Greece for a while but Vermont is now home and will ALWAYS be home.

After Cat posted a recent topic about the TV show M*A*S*H, I remember this pic I had with my M*A*S*H T-shirt on (didn't everyone have a MASH t-shirt back then?) I was in my "MASH/Apocalypse Now/Deer Hunter" period, as many of my classmates were, and this was half way into dressing up in an "Apocalypse now" mercenary soldier costume, (on my way to a high school costume party) I didn't have any makeup paint on yet. I believe the timeframe for this one is either Aug/Sept 1979, or even into spring 1980. Don't remember. I know it wasn't wintertime.

I still can't find a pic where I had makeup on my face (like those Apocalypse now guys), but I found this one, still from 1979. The party I went to later on was a 15 minute walk, so I walked to the party. I was dressed like this (later I had black shoe polish on my face and some black paint) with a machete in one hand, I borrowed my friends gun (unloaded) and had it in a holster. (You can't see it here though)

If I tried walking to a party today dressed like that, I'd probably get arrested (except for Texas where no one would notice :D)

My grandpa (left) had suffered a stroke four months prior in April 73. I think both he and his brothers, who were both older than him, were happy he was alive. My grandpa's brother on the right would die suddenly in February 1975. My grandpa himself would die of a second stroke just 8 months after his brother in October 1975. The middle brother was the eldest and in the space of just 8 months in 1975 he lost his two kid brothers. The eldest would die of lung cancer in July 1979. None of them were older than 69.

That's because it was a private school. The next year I went to a public school and the class size was quite a bit bigger.
When I was teaching (5th grade), it was in a rural area. There were 10 kids. The 6th grade had 20 and there were a few times when they combined the two classes. Nothing like having 30 hormonal kids in a fairly small classroom (not the mention 3 teachers). Yeah, it was a bit cramped.

50 in your 2nd grade class? Wow! My 2nd grade class was large, as well... but there were 43 of us in the class. (There were 42 at the start, but midway through the school year, one new member joined.)

Wow, I never had more than 25 people in one class here. I believe 33 is the legal maximum in some school forms here but most states have lower maximums to ensure the quality of education. :o

My graduating class had 20 kids, my sister’s had 16. We had no middle school or pre school. The elementary K-6 was essentially a 1 room schoolhouse divided up by wheeled chalkboards. Sometimes 5th and 6th grade were in the same room taught by the same teacher. It was a real adventure when a spider habitat by the 4th grade got loose. Or having to listen to the 1st graders on the other side of the chalkboard singing little bunny foo foo every morning. And the 2nd graders a little farther down singing circle round valentine or whatever.
My first high school math class which was 8th grade algebra 1 had 6 kids. Then my last math class which was senior year pre calc also had 6 kids. We had a lot of fun.

A photo of my dad. I had this scanned at my sister's place. My dad is the one in the middle. My uncle took this shot of him. My dad was into music and was a musician most of his life. He had long hair and in his later teen pictures, a short beard. This photo is from the early 1970s 72 or 73?. I think this was in Michigan. My family would go there often from Alexandria.

I have seen it around also. The two boys on either side look like they are about to go at it bigtime. The one on the right (who definitely looks like the bully of the bunch) is approaching the one on the left with clenched fists upraised, and the on the right is in that "what did *I* do" defensive stance. One wonders if it was staged or from a movie, because why would someone be taking a picture of two youths fighting instead of attempting to break it up? And those people in the background, seemingly oblivious to it all. And even one of THEM (standing) appears to be taking photographs. But on the other hand, it could be a foreshadowing of today when people film these things gleefully from the sidelines and post them on Facebook, Instagram, etc. and sometimes even make it to cable news.
I will say though, that it's a VERY 70s (early 70s) looking picture. Far more accurate than a lot of the Sears catalog polyester stuff that some younger folks here think of as "the 70s". Not that there wasn't an element of that too, mind you.

Whatever we post online will appear on Google search. So yes, it's been on my website for 5 years. Plus I sent it over to that fashion history website along with some other photos.
Anyway, here's a photo of my mother. She said this was 1974. The little girl is NOT me. That's my cousin who is much older than I am. My mother said this was at a dinner/get together. See how I look more like my mom: dark hair(although I do have some strands of light hair I inherited from my dad). I smile like my mom too. My brother looks more like my dad. But the shape of my face is more like my dad's was. So yes, very 70s looking my mom!

You also say you inherited strands of light hair from your father, but the photo you posted of him clearly shows him to have very dark hair indeed. I'm confused!

I was curious about the faint diamond criss-crosses all over it - I have a theory but wanted to see if my theory lines up with reality. By your mom's dress it looks likely to be 1974, since hemlines started falling around 1975 or so. Her dress looks pretty, very "early 70's" style. She looks closer to an adult than a kid in the picture, but it's really hard to tell.

Yes, it's been circulating on the internet for many years, often in color. Read some of the previous posts and you will see some of the sites it has appeared. It's been on Reddit, for example, since 2014. Nobody quite knows it's origins, but yes it is very archetypical 70s. Reminds me a bit of the cult classic movie "Over The Edge", filmed in 1978, released in 1979. Here's a still:

The more I look at it the more it seems staged, like it's from a movie or TV show or magazine layout or something. The way it's framed, the people in the background, the houses, even the sky. And, as I stated in a previous post, what kind of person takes a picture of kids about to get into a fight rather than stopping it? Maybe now, but not so much in the 70s. It comes across as archetypical, it jumps out at you, which is probably why it has circulated so widely online.

The photo you posted is from the website of a man named Pedro H. Rodriguez that is entirely in Spanish:
http://pedrohrodz.com/
You have REPEATEDLY said that your father was Egyptian. You have also repeatedly said your father is deceased. From what I can translate of the Spanish, Pedro H. Rodriguez is very much alive and apparently preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Is Pedro H. Rodriguez your father or not? A few months ago you also posted a photo you alleged to be your father, that was of a bunch of very young teenage boys. The one you indicated was your father looked NOTHING like this man, Pedro H. Rodriguez, and was later determined to be from a commercial website and possibly from a movie. Another time you tried to claim your father had something to do with the 70s rock band America.
Somebody has to ask you the hard question once and for all.
WHY do you keep posting photographs of men and boys from random websites and claim they are your father? Do you think we cannot find out the origins of these photos in this day and age? We don't like being lied to.

Pedro does not appear to be Egyptian?

I should say not. He's the least Egyptian guy this side of Cairo.

Love the colors! The 70s harvest gold and coppertone. All that's missing is the avocado green. And is it my imagination or is your dress the exact or almost exact same pattern as the drapes?

Thanks, everyone and yeah, it does look like my shirt (not a dress) matches the (awful) curtains.
I never did tell the story of how I got that black eye. My sister had twin beds in her room. She only used one and the other became the dogs' bed and when they were puppies, they tried to eat the mattress. ::) Anyway, when we were going to get rid of that mattress, we put it on the porch. We also had our picnic table on the porch. There were a bunch of us kids who thought it would be fun to climb on the picnic table and then jump onto the mattress. I think it was my sister who kept telling everyone to wait until the person on the mattress got up before jumping. But, some kid (don't recall who it was) couldn't wait until I got off the mattress before jumping. >:( Her head came in contact with my eye. Yup, I was hit in the eye with a head.
I did have a lot of fun with that picnic table. The bench became my "balance beam" as I dreamed about being in the Olympics. The thing was, I was so afraid of doing a cartwheel (that I could do VERY well in those days) on the bench and missing and scraping my leg so I would purposed like do a cartwheel off the bench-my dismount. lol.

This kid’s most loved show on tv was “Family Affair”. The intention of her mom in this picture is to doll her up as Buffy Davis, not Cindy Brady.

An UK line for Star Wars at one of the cinemas in Leicester Square London.
I reckon the chap in the coat looking on to the line is a ticket tout, a person who buys up tickets for an event to resell them at a profit.

I saw Star Wars in 1977, don't remember what theater, don't remember with whom. Didn't care for it much, I was more of a trekkie. I have never watched it again and I saw parts of one of the sequels. I do recall it's popularity in the summer of 1977. There havent been too many more popular films that Star Wars in my lifetime

I never saw it myself. Have no interest. However I DO remember the MASSIVE ad campaign in 1977. I had never seen anything like that for any movie previous. It started months in advance. By the time that movie hit theaters every man, woman and child on the panet had heard of it. THAT'S why there were long lines. Shortly thereafter, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" employed the same media blitz. I remember full double page centerfold ads in magazines and such.

As a stand only film "Star Wars: A New Hope" is a good film. When the others were released I lost interest, but still saw them, now all the other Star Wars films have merged into one, and I cannot say which scene is from which film.

"CE3K" for me is a much preferred film, till Spielberg produce the director's cut.

I saw it in Tulsa with one of my sisters and my two cousins. I think it was a few months after it opened so I was hoping the line wouldn't be too long but there was still a line. Don't know how long we waited-15 minutes? 20 minutes? (Had to wait until the last showing was over.) At least we were able to get in on the next showing. I don't think we would have stayed there if we couldn't get in.
