You know I love it!  (because I'm a pig lover.)  I also LOVE Lake Tahoe.  Where is that golf course located?  I used to live close to the lake (In Carson City) but it's been a few years since I've been there.

I figured you'd like it since you're fond of pigs. The mini-golf course is on the California side between the Lake recreation area and the outlets. We always go while we're up there. We vacation there every summer for a week.

I love it too, and have been going every summer for the past 8 years. It's a lot nicer now that they've built up the area. The heavenly Village is awesome and of course the Lake is spectacular.  the mini-golf course is where they have this little cheepie kids carnival rides place.

Thanks.  Yeah, it's totally awesome.  Alot to do there, whether it actually has to do with the falls (stand peering at them, go underneath them (on the Canadian side), or boat right up next to them (Maid of the mist on the United States side).  Clifton Hill has wax museums and Ripley Believe it or not Museums.  There is a Hard Rock Cafe and a Planet Hollywood there.  Two gambling casinos, Marineland (which is kinda like Sea World)  and a live butterfly "display" plus tons of restaurants.  I love love love Niagara Falls (at least on the Canadian side.)  On the United States side, there is less to do, but none less fun, there is an aquarium, a Native American Indian museum, a wax museum, plus shopping outlet mall nearish, also I think you can tour the hydro electric plant (although I have not done so yet.)  I like going in May because the weather is pretty nice and the flowers are in bloom.  I think they should pay me to advertise for them.  lol

they should hire you to advertise because that sounded great & I'd love to go. They have everything I need. Hard Rock Cafe, Casinos, beautiful nature & museums. what a wonderful place to vacation. It's on my list of places to go

I went to Alaska in 1997 when my brother lived up there, this was from late June 1997, as you can see there's still snow sitting on the mountains, and I have to say that was probably the best vacation ever.

Lots lol. We went like on this one little cruise thing for a day, though this area with glaciers, and they served salmon. I did fishing in some rivers, with the wader things on. I rode on my brothers ATV. Climbed a few small mountains. Ate some excellent fish.

Yeah, that is true. Anaheim is pretty hot and humid during Summer, too. I was at Disney LAND in 1989, which was 18 years ago - I am guessing you were at Disney World  :) Well, maybe I can do an Autumn vacation, as that's how it's looking anyway. Thanks for the tip :0)

Yes, in August!!  It was terribly hot and crowded.  I think fall and winter are great times to go, try to avoid school holidays like Christmas break if at all possible.

Most of those look familiar...which doesn't surprise me, as I have been to both localities. :) And yes, California Adventure Park indeed opened in 2001.

I love Disneyland. Cool pics Kristen. We haven't been there in about 3 years. Last time we went, Diane and Julie said I could not have any coffee unless I rode the Tower Of Terror with them first thing in the morning, so of course I rode it because I'd do just about anything for my morning coffee, and after we rode it, they bought me a souvenir commuter mug which I promptly filled with coffee.

Diane & I went on a 2 mile hike Wednesday morning, & with lots of uphill hiking, it seemed like longer but the views of the lake, the mountains, trees, & waterfalls made it worth the effort. Diane didn't want to follow me up this trail in the 1st pic so I had to come back down & we took a smoother safer path & in the 2nd pic, I got this feeling that I was the King of the Mountain

I love the Monterey Bay Aqaurium. been there a few times and if you are there for the sea otter feeding, that's quite cool.  nice pics Jessica. did you guys happen to swing by Carmel while you were in the area? the beaches there are awesome.

I do too. I haven't been there in ages. The first time I went, was 21 years ago this month, when I was 6. That was my very first vacation. That whole area (Carmel, Monterey, etc.) sure is lovely; it's just a long way away (300+ miles) from where we've lived.

I'm not enthralled with the Aquarium because 1. I've seen it eleventy million times, 2. They've really screwed up how cool it used to be, and 3. It's extremely expensive. Jason, however, had an awesome time because he's never seen it before, so seeing him excited about it was rewarding in itself. We got stuck at the penguin exhibit for an hour though, due to his infatuation with "Happy Feet". :D I do like the views from the outside of the Aquarium. Nothing like seeing the whole bay all at once.

Didn't make it to Carmel this time around. We had three weeks to visit family and friends and that definitely took all our time, considering how large our families are. ;D

Yeah, road trips are quite fun, but you definitely need the stamina to drive all that way. On the outward trip, I managed to drive a little bit for Rice, but I have issues driving a manual transmission. :P The way back I didn't drive at all because our car was packed to the brim with gifts, food, and a new pet, so I couldn't adjust the seat.

i've always been incredibly bored by castle and cathedral tours, but these guys found a way to spice it up: make you think you're going to plummet to your death! you go up and through all these little narrow staircases and over rickety wooden walkways suspended at least five stories over the ground while the tour guide tells you the story of how the entire structure has disastrously collapsed only once, and that really not that many people slip over the edge and fall every year. the number of untimely deaths of tourists here is really quite manageable. it was sorta half tour, half thrill ride.

the interior of the tower from the top -- there are these panels you open to a sheer 100-foot drop right down to skewer yourself on the pipe organ. man, i hate high places.

Went back to the hills of West Virginia northern panhandle for a family reunion last Saturday.  Aren't they pretty?  The Foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

the water was really warm...but it was cold on the surface.  We had a great time until Bode chaased ducks out into the middle of the lake.  Then I swam after her because I was worried about the motorboats.

the interior of the tower from the top -- there are these panels you open to a sheer 100-foot drop right down to skewer yourself on the pipe organ. man, i hate high places.

this picture is a little blurry, but otherwise i think quite well done. i didn't take any of these.

I always love your vacation photos, they are always somewhere exotic that I will more-the-likely not be going to in my lifetime.  So it's kinda cool traveling by internet.  I don't think I've ever seen a bad photo of you!  :)

Newport Aquarium was pretty cool and surprisingly busy for a Tuesday afternoon during school hours. 

That's so cool that you were there before too Michael.  We don't usually travel too far from home, as I am a homebody and don't like being too far from my comfort zone.

Two more from another walk... Those were taken just north of Alkmaar, on a very cold and windy winter's day (February 16, 2008).
This time we went for a 10 km walk (our usual stretch), but the surroundings were a bit disappointing. So not a lot of pictures were taken that day. :( Ah well, at least you get these two. ;)

The first one has the dunes in the background. (Behind them is the North Sea). The second one shows a lake in a former sand quarry that we were walking round about. I do like that one... :)

staying in cabins sounds cool and much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground in a tent.  the land is gorgeous Erin. I love the little lake, it's all so picturesque'

No, we were only there for a couple of days.  We went to the Shark Reef and wandered the strip.  It was awesome, though.  :)

Both places are poles apart (Vegas and Cook's forrest) ..but they both looked great to me.  :)

My sister was STOKED to go to her grave and then see her handprints.  She is incredibly obsessed with Marilyn and has an impressive collection of memorabilia.  This trip was definitely a high point for her.  Now I just need to get my hands on an actual signature for her collection and she'll be all set. ;D

And thank you for the compliments about my family.  Alicia (my sis) doesn't think she's good looking at all.  She had a lot of problems when she was younger with teasing and self esteem, so she's pretty scarred emotionally. :(

I LOVE Reno.  It has a small town feel, even though it's full of casinos and stuff.  The scenery surrounding it is lovely, especially when the Sierras are covered with snow.

There sure is.  It's way the hell out on River Road, and it's called Wild Things Animal Rentals/Vision Quest Ranch.  It used to be known as Oxton Kennels, but that changed in 1985 or so.  It is a very cool place to visit.  The animals are loved and very much spoiled, even the "mean" ones. ;D  It sucks though....their oldest lion, Josef, just died.  He was the model for Mufasa in "The Lion King".  We got to see him before he died and he was a very beautiful cat, but you could tell that he was getting up their in years and just not feeling good. :(

Hey Cat!  In 76/77 we drove from Wash DC to Vegas. My mom had been in the country for about 7 years at that point but still didn't know a lot.... she saw the arch and my dad told her it was a bridge we were going to have to drive over.... she totally freaked out!  I was in the back of seat crying because she was so convincing (in her fear that I got scared too.)

Andy (Satan's Dad) and I drove from St. Louis to Chicago this weekend to visit Kin (Rice Cube) and Jessica. Chicago is a way cool city and we all had a really good time.

About this pic: It was taken inside the Orleans Casino shortly after my family and I saw Don Rickles perform, which was definitely a high point in my life.

My co-workers and I had this running gag where we jokingly referred to the coffee shack where we hang out at during our breaks as "The Blue Oyster Bar," after the gay bar where the characters in the Police Academy movies always accidentally walked into. My brother and I saw that sign and I just had to. I immediately texted it to my work buddies, and after I got back one of them told me that when he received it he was laughing so hard he was in tears.

I'm assuming you're referring to Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle? To be honest, after we each ate several of those potent little gut bombs, it was more like a Cheech & Chong movie, you know, when they're rolling in Cheech's Impala and they're sparking up and these huge white clouds of smoke are billowing out the windows?

Well, after those sliders settled in and started working their magic, I'm sure my Crown Vic looked like that going down the road, except the clouds coming out of the windows were brown.  :o :o :o

But yeah if you get a chance you should definitely try some. I should warn you, once they start kicking in they're not for the faint of heart. As a matter-of-fact when I was heading out of St. Louis towards KC, I stopped at a White Castle and bought 10 of those bad boys, and they're just now starting to take effect. I look forward to spending a good portion of tomorrow sitting on the terlet.  :P

I posted those photos on Flickr and someone commented on one of them saying at first they thought that a tragedy happened there-so it is possible. However, I don't think they would have put a sign saying "Local Wildlife" if it is a memorial. I posted those photos on Flickr and someone commented on one of them saying at first they thought that a tragedy happened there-so it is possible. However, I don't think they would have put a sign saying "Local Wildlife" if it is a memorial. I don't know. My sister would know-she was driving. I believe it was on Route 34 along the Housatonic River.

At first I thought it was a memorial site too but the Local Wildlife sign does suggest its more of a fun thing...


I'm willing to bet that someone put up a sign and a few stuffed animals  and then regular passerbys deposit additional animals to help it grow....wonder what happens to them in inclimate weather tho.
