Gore  # 3  Ancestry (The Dead Heart - Midnight Oil)

J.C.  # 4  Innuendo (Dirty Laundry - Don Henley)

#4 may be "Goody Two Shoes" by Adam Ant.  (The word was plural in the song, maybe this isn't the correct answer?)

#5 is "Creeque Alley" by the Mamas & the Papas.  (The word "Creeque" is a homonym (or as Alex Trebek of "Jeopardy!" likes to call them, "homophones") of "creaky.")

2 could be "AWOL" by Exodus - but maybe you weren't thinking of that   :o  ;D

We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing.

# 5 is correct, Crazydon.

# 4 wasn't the one I'm looking for, and your plural observation is spot on)

Hi Chris

Gotta admit to not being familiar re AWOL by Exodus, so can't say !

I have expanded on the lyrics, so unless Exodus were into plagiarism in a big way, it probably isn't correct.

Further, the name Exodus conjures up a stereotype (which of course may be WAY off) of a certain style of music.

When you see the answer to the song, and if you know it, you'll probably think it funny to think of Exodus doing a cover of it !

And when it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing,
We all know the CRAP is king

What great lines, and how true are they !

Having said all that :

Correct, J.C. !

Seriously, the song you were thinking of is the one I thought you were thinking of. The updated line is all I can remember. No Artist, no title, no year, no clue at all.  :-/

Honestly ?

I was only kidding myself.  Exodus to me sounded like a heavy metal/ thrashy type band, so I thought "Nah, couldn't be the same song..."

Oops !

Metal bands do the most unusual covers at times FB. Nevermore did a cover of 'Sounds of Silence' on their last album that, compared to the original, sounds like a war going on. The German metal label Nuclear Blast commissioned an album last year of ABBA covers, done by heavy metal bands. It's interesting, to say the least.  ;D
