Are you sure this isn't just lines from one song in the 80s?  Something like this:

Carry a cup in your hand
You’ll see your name, up in lights
Pull my strings, watch me move
Something special, something sacred in your eyes

If you walk away you'll regret it some day
It’s tearing me apart that you’re leaving
The passion's so complete
Refrain from breaking my heart

I've had my share of hearts broken
Hold me now, touch me now
I won’t walk away again
There doesn't seem to be anyone around

I had I feeling that I belonged
You had to sneak into my room, just to read my diary
She left, I cried for weeks
If I stay just a little bit longer

I can feel it inside, something new has begun
Come of girls, lets go, show the guys that we know
I don’t want anything less, its got to be
A TV and a radio

Hell, it makes more sense than some lyrics I could mention ;-)

I was going to guess "Der Kommisar" by After the Fire, but that was 1983 or 1984 because I was still in college then (and flunked out afterwards :-one song in the 80s?  Something like this:

Carry a cup in your hand
You’ll see your name, up in lights
Pull my strings, watch me move
Something special, something sacred in your eyes

If you walk away you'll regret it some day
It’s tearing me apart that you’re leaving
The passion's so complete
Refrain from breaking my heart

I've had my share of hearts broken
Hold me now, touch me now
I won’t walk away again
There doesn't seem to be anyone around

I had I feeling that I belonged
You had to sneak into my room, just to read my diary
She left, I cried for weeks
If I stay just a little bit longer

I can feel it inside, something new has begun
Come of girls, lets go, show the guys that we know
I don’t want anything less, its got to be
A TV and a radio

Hell, it makes more sense than some lyrics I could mention ;-)

Lol! I can't beleive that in some wierd way, it makes sense! Another quiz could be to make a song up of allready existing lyrics and see if you could find there origins? Maybe you should start that up!
