Subject: Crazy Don's G-rated missing persons quiz is over!

Written By: Crazy Don on 07/04/02 at 09:18 a.m.

GAME OVER--THANKS FOR PLAYING

I am taking a few lines from a novelty or parody song and leaving out a word or two, maybe three.  The missing word is a name.  For bonus points, name the song by title and artist; and if it is a parody, you get more bonus points if you name the song it's spoofing.  This version is cleaner than Philbo Baggins' missing persons quiz.

(J. C.) 1.  Please, Mr. Custer, I don't wanna go
Larry Verne--Mr. Custer

(Zella) 2.  Up in the sky
A man in a plane
Baron von Richtoven was his name
The Royal Guardsmen--Snoopy vs. the Red Baron

(J. C.) 3.  He ordered Chet's guitar course C. O. D.
Ray Stevens--Gitarzan
(BTW, the Chet is Chet Atkins, a famous country guitarist and producer.)

(Dagwood) 4.  I said, "Don't look, Ethel," but it was too late
Ray Stevens--The Streak

(lebeiw15) 5.  Art Fleming gave the answers
But I couldn't get the questions right
Weird Al Yankovic--I Lost on Jeopardy! (spoofs "Jeopardy" by the Greg Kihn Band)

(J. C.) 6.  Oh me-a, oh my-a
I wish that Shania
Would buy me a house in South Carolina!
Cledus T. Judd--If Shania Was Mine (spoofs "Any Man of Mine" by Shania Twain)

(J. C.) 7.  It's that Faith Hill CD
They're all sold-outable
Cledus T. Judd--Christ-Mas (spoofs "This Kiss" by Faith Hill)

(J. C.) 8.  Igor on chains backed by his baying hounds
Bobby "Boris" Pickett--Monster Mash

(J. C.) 9.  You better come home, Speedy Gonzales
Away from cannery row
Pat Boone--Speedy Gonzales

(Taoist) 10.  You remember Leonard Skinner
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner
Allan Sherman--Hello Mudduh, Hello Fadduh!

This quiz is now over.  Thank you very much.

Hey, I included an Alan Sherman song, too!  This one's from Camp Grenada, it's "Leonard Skinner" missing and the tune is "Dance of the Hours" or something like that by Ponchielli from La Gioconda

That is correct.  BTW, a similarly-named person lent his name to the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Nope, it's a female…and BTW, "Elton John" wouldn't fit the feel of the song because "Elton" is two syllables.

Correct on both.  They were mentioned in the Cledus T. Judd songs "If Shania Was Mine" (which parodied Shania's "Any Man of Mine") and "Christ-Mas" (a spoof of Faith Hill's "This Kiss.")
