These are both great guesses - both correct Jonman ;D

The 'Beatles For Sale' album in Australia was re-covered with four pictures from the Beatles concert at Sydney Stadium, surrounded by a light yellow background.

For years it thought 'that's the way it is then'  As a youngster it never occurred to me that it WASN'T the cover the rest of the world saw  ::)

That would be "I me mine", presumably - the Joan Armatrading reference is bugging me, because I remember the song but can't think of the title

>15.  In which Beatles song (according to Paul McCartney's biography) did the last verse actually refer to a house being deliberately burnt down ?
Norwegian Wood?  "So I lit a fire, isn't it good etc." - I never thought of that as being the house burning down, more a fire in the grate...

Phil
PS Stu Sutcliffe was referred to as "The fifth Beatle"
PPS I thought NEMS was "North End Music Store" - couldn't have been "North East", as it's in the North West  ???

Norwegian Wood?  "So I lit a fire, isn't it good etc." - I never thought of that as being the house burning down, more a fire in the grate...End Quote

Correct again !

In McCartney's book 'Many Years From Now' he says (in part) :

"...Peter Asher had his place done out in wood...Norwegian Wood.  It was a pine really, cheap pine.  But it's not as good a title, 'Cheap Pine', baby.

In John's head it was based on an affair he had.  She led him on then said 'You'd better sleep in the bath'.  In our world the guy had to have some sort of revenge.  It could have meant I lit a fire to keep myself warm, and wasn't the decor of her house wonderful ?

But It didn't, it meant I burned the f***ing place down as an act of revenge, and we eft it there and went into the instrumental..."

Noo RR, I don't believe that to be the story - in fact, I believe it was Paul who was being 'undertaken' - if that's what happens....supposedly symbolised by his bare feet....

I think my question should more properly have read "Who is the gravedigger" - he is wearing the sort of clothes one might wear as a gravedigger....

I think Phil Spector was more of a producer rather than DJ ?  Although he may done that as well ?

In any case - not who I'm thinking of, althought he did horrify Paul McCartney by dubbing female voices onto The Long And Winding Road, so there was a Beatles connection, in fact he took over and finished production of Let It Be as a whole...

The DJ I'm thinking of had a name in the same style as

"Richie the C"
