Subject: Crazy Don's 1962 "A to Z" lyrics quiz! (complete!)

Written By: Crazy Don on 02/03/03 at 10:45 a.m.

QUIZ OVER--STAY TUNED FOR THE 1964 "A TO Z" QUIZ HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!

It's time for the 1962 version of the "A to Z" lyrics quiz.  All of these songs came out in 1962.  Identify each by title and artist.  There are 20 of these, omitting E, F, K, Q, X, and Z.  Limit four for now.

And remember, I'm looking for the artist who had the hit with it in 1962.

Jonman 1.  And a scimitar by his side
Ahab the Arab--Ray Stevens

mandamoo 2.  Remember when you held me tight
Breaking Up Is Hard to Do--Neil Sedaka

FBVP 3.  You'll never know that I still love you so
Crying in the Rain--The Everly Brothers

BF 4.  And a paradise we will share
Duke of Earl--Gene Chandler
(Sorry, Rice Cube!)

IG 5.  A rabbit's foot on a string
Good Luck Charm--Elvis Presley

mandamoo 6.  When he holds my hand I'm so proud
He's a Rebel--"The Crystals"
(On the record label it says The Crystals, but the song was actually done by Darlene Love & the Blossoms.  Phil Spector liked the song so much he wanted his own version of it, and wanted the Crystals to record it, but they were not available, so he used Darlene Love & the Blossoms, and released it as by The Crystals.)

sl 7.  They say that time heals a broken heart
I Can't Stop Loving You--Ray Charles

hb 8.  I'm in heaven, I get carried away
Johnny Angel--Shelley Fabares
Yes, the same person that played Banasy's, er, Donna Reed's daughter on "The Banasy, er, Donna Reed Show" and Craig T. Nelson's wife on "Coach."

Zella 9.  It's easier to learn than your ABC's
The Loco-Motion--Little Eva

BF 10.  Opened the lid and shook his fist
Monster Mash--Bobby "Boris" Pickett

TB 11.  And she only lives a house away
Next Door to an Angel--Neil Sedaka

sl 12.  I'll prove it with just one kiss
Only Love Can Break a Heart--Gene Pitney

BF 13.  We ate and ate at a hot dog stand
Palisades Park--Freddy Cannon
(BTW, the song was written by the subject of the movie "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," Chuck Barris!)

BF 14.  This time I'm gonna take it myself
Return to Sender--Elvis Presley

IG 15.  Why don't you come out to my twist party?
Sherry--The 4 Seasons

MNIK 16.  Puttin' trouble on the run
Twistin' the Night Away--Sam Cooke

Durania 17.  You've got me sewn up like a pillowcase
Unchain My Heart--Ray Charles

sl 18.  We're gonna grab a bite at the pizza stand
Vacation--Connie Francis

MNIK 19.  And show 'em Rosie on my chest
The Wanderer--Dion

LD 20.  Send me photographs and souvenirs
You Belong to Me--The Duprees

This quiz is now over.  Thank you very much.
