Correct MNIKenny! :)

BUT - this is an unusual one because another band ALSO had a 1980s lone hit with a cover version of this, so that's still up for grabs....

#10 is correct Wicked...I am SURE that this was a chart entry in the UK, I bought the single myself. However it's not listed in my Guinness Book of Hit Singles. But I put it in this quiz anyway.

Also, correct artist for #4, well done.

I'm afraid that's incorrect Gwen, remember these were all songs for artists who had only one chart entry, INXS don't fit that criterion at all.

11 - Indeep - Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (Awesome song :) ''And if it wasn't for the music, I don't know what I'd doo'')

14 - M/A/R/R/S - Pump Up The Volume -

The final one (which I can't remeber the number for and can't scroll down because I'm modifying my post!) is Robin Beck - The First Time

Hi Criz

#11 - is incorrect I'm afraid!
I had to go and check this out - the lyrics are very similar, the Indeep song actually goes "You know I hopped into my car - didn't get very far". Also, according to my Guinness book, Indeep had another chart entry called "When Boys Talk" (anyone remember that one??), which reached the lofty heights of Number 67 in the UK chart.

I found quite a few others like this when compiling the quiz, i.e. artists I thought had only one chart entry but turned out to have had some others I'd never heard of. I'm thinking of doing anohter quiz based on these!

#14 - correct! :)

#22 - correct! :)
although I don't recall this song or artist at all, apparently it was No.1 in the UK and you say it was in a Coke ad? I have a mental block on this, was it really bad!?

Bad? It was bloody awful...!!

Hi maddog - several from the darkest recesses of my mind...

#7. Live Is Life - Opus (and that was bloody awful too!)

#16. Hole In My Shoe - neil (from 'The Young Ones'...)

#17. Together We Are Beautiful - Fern Kinney

To my eternal shame, I also know #21...and #20...but right now, I'm trying very hard not to...!

Okay...(sigh!) This is gonna be painful...

I did actually meet this guy (not face to face) a couple of times...a huge man in stature and personality, he was one of the leading 'crowd-pleasing' DJ's of the '80's...and this was one of the songs he used to 'perform' in his own style...

#21. I Found Lovin' - Steve Walsh

...the moronic 'you wot' bit was chanted by a normally boozed-up crowd...sad to say, I did join in...!

Steve's sadly no longer with us...a massive heart attack floored him in the '90's...still fondly remembered by a few middle-aged soul boys...

Hi Paul
I do remember this song and the chant/response chorus that went "you wot, you wot, you wot", but unfortunately this isn't the song I had in mind. Also, once again according to Guinness, this was not Steve Walsh's only chart entry - he also had minor hits with "Let's Get Together Tonite" and "Ain't No Stopping Us Now (Party For The World)".

#21 is from a No.1 UK hit in the late 80s, in fact very soon after the Steve Walsh hit, so they may have blatantly copied the "you wot" refrain. The band then went on to have a number of other hits under a different name...and to dump a dead sheep on the steps outside the Brit awards and burn a million pounds (yes, really) in the name of art on a Hebridean island...
