#4 - The Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniels Band)
#11 - Eleanor Rigby (the Beatles)
#15 looks like "Whiskey in the Jar" to me, but the only version I know sure don't have any violins in it...

..but what about the only violin solo you could headbang to?  I mean Come on Eileen, by Dexy's...

All 3 are correct philbo...in my mind I could hear a violin playing in the Thin Lizzy version of "Whiskey In The jar" but maybe I'm confusing it with the traditional Irish folk version of the same song.

That aimed at me?
Oh well - anorak time...!

(At least I hope this is right!) Violinski was the name of the band who recorded (and hit with) 'Clog Dance' in 1979...the name being a pun on violin maestro Mik Kaminski, the fiddle player with the Electric Light Orchestra...

And if it isn't right...at least it was interesting!

Anyway, maddog - here's three...

#6. All Around My Hat - Steeleye Span (re-named by the 'folkies' as 'All Around Mike Batt' (the producer), who reckoned he ruined the group's sound...)

#10. The Intro And The Outro - Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (Viv Stanshall's finest hour...)

#14. What Do You Want - Adam Faith (the plucking strings - try saying that fast! - were the brainchild of the superb arranging skills of John Barry...)

That's 3 for 3 plus the bonus point Paul - I just had a strong suspicion that you'd be the person who knew that!

Wiv pleasure, sir!

To be fair, this wasn't me...it was actually a pal of mine who came up with the answer after I picked his brains (he's more clued up on the 'modern' stuff than I'll ever be...that said, the tune's got to be a few years old now...well, yes - it would be - your clue said it was from the early 90's...!)

#8. Unfinished Sympathy - Massive (who later became Massive Attack)

...I vaguely remember it, but the words wouldn't have registered...

That's the one Paul, thanks for closing this out. I believe they'd become Massive Attack by the time this was released. I think it's a great song.
