I've been puzzling over the clues since you set this quiz.  I had worked out that it was most likely "_ of the _" and then the 'rocky' bit gave me the rest.  The answer just sort of popped into my head!  I have heard of a Tiger's Eye but didn't know it was from a form of asbestos.

...the strands that you can see inside the stone are asbestos: IMO it's one of the most beautiful stones, especially semi-precious ones.

I had been racking my brains on this one for any song I could remember by Wishbone Ash 'cos they fitted the 8,3 pattern!
