Subject: Quiz for a RAINy day! (1 LEFT! No Limit! HINTS!)

Written By: CeramicsFanatic on 02/28/04 at 02:42 p.m.

All of the songs will have the word rain in the title.  Your job is to name the song and the artist(s).

Limit: 4

1. "There's a calm before the storm"
Indy (Have You Ever Seen The Rain? - CCR)

2. "You're old enough some people say"
Maddog (It's Raining Again - Supertramp)

3. "Nothing to do but frown"
gamblefish (Rainy Days And Mondays - Carpenters)

4. "I want to talk like lovers do"
Paul (Here Comes The Rain Again - Eurythmics)

5. "The thing that gets me is the stupid waste"
HINT: The leader of this band was a key figure in putting together a huge fundraiser designed to bring relief to famine-stricken countries in Africa. The song did not make the Top 40 in the U.S. but most likely did in this band's native country.

6. "It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me"
gamblefish (Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head - B.J. Thomas)

7. "You were holding hands and I'll never be the same"
annie (The Rain - Oran "Juice" Jones)

8. "It always seems to be a Monday"
Paul (Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again - The Fortunes)

9. "High stepping strutters who land in the gutters"
Gaylon (Rainy Day People - Gordon Lightfoot)

10. "Flee from me keepers of the gloom"
gamblefish (The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin)

11. "This land fed a nation, this land made me proud"
Indy (Rain On The Scarecrow - J.C. Mellencamp)

12. "I never wanted 2 be your weekend lover"
annie (Purple Rain - Prince)

13. "Good men through the ages, tryin' to find the sun"
Gaylon (Who'll Stop The Rain - CCR)

14. "All I can say is that my life is pretty plain"
gamblefish (No Rain - Blind Melon)

15. "Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere"
Paul (The Rain, The Park & Other Things - Cowsills)

16. "Burning light, burning white heat"
Paul (Rain In The Summertime - The Alarm)

17. "You'll see the sun appear to light the way"
Lanie (After The Rain - Nelson)

18. "Whatever you do don't put the blame on you"
PhiKapDave (Blame It On The Rain - Milli Vanilli)

19. "I find me a place in a box car"
Gaylon (Rainy Night In Georgia - Brook Benton)

20. "And I only passed by as a friend"
Lanie (I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins)

Hi annie!  :)

You got 'em both, although you gave me little extra for #7.  The song is just called "The Rain" and it's by Oran "Juice" Jones...not Orange Juice Jones.  ;D ;)

Hi CF...

#16. Rain In The Summertime - The Alarm

...I had a feeling it was this, but had to dig the song out to make sure...and typically, I can't get the thing out of my head now!

And rather appropriately (The Alarm being Welsh) it's St. David's Day today (1st March) - the patron saint of Taffs...

...so a big 'Bora Da' to all Taffs everywhere...!

Right on, Paul!  BTW, I just love that song and when I play it I have to repeat it several times which does make it one of those songs that doesn't leave your head for a while!  ;D

I hadn't realized they were Welsh.  Interesting bit of info there, Paul.  Thanks!  :D
