Trick questions...don't you just love 'em...?!!

Good to see you back on the square, maddog...

Had me really thinking about #10. but I think the Yorkshire connection must be Bowie's gee-tarist of the time - the late Mick Ronson

...and the Tyke 'national anthem' bringing up the rear...

#19. On Ilkley Moor bar 'tat (heaven knows how you spell that!) - translation for those not fluent in Tyke...Upon the moor of Ilkley without a hat...

Hiya ladybug - good to see you on board at the new board! And yes, the Yorkshire accent is definitely a distinctive one...

#7 is correct - the song was written and sung by Paul Carrack, who was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

You're right Indy! Another song written and sung by the great Paul Carrack.
In one of those strange coincidences, this very song came on the radio just a few minutes before I saw your response!

Hi karen  :)

You're correct - The Mekons are a band formed in the late 70s/early 80s by a group of Leeds University graduates. Apparently they're still going to this day.

I remember some months ago that you told me you had an old compilation album with this song on it, plus various other Yorkshire punk / indy bands!

Correct Bobo!
Paul Heaton is from Hull, formerly in the East Riding of Yorkshire but since 1974 in its own county of Humberside.

Hint: this is not Paul Heaton's only appearance in this quiz!

Hey there Mordor, great to see you back with us  :)

You're so close with this title that I'm going to give it to you...the song title is actually "All Of My Heart".
The band ABC was formed in Sheffield, although the lead singer Martin Fry comes from Manchester.

I've taken the liberty of clearing this up, as it's been hanging around quite a bit...(in actual fact, I think I answered this in the quiz's original incarnation, but I'm not 100% sure...)

#2. (Title) 'Louise'

14.She Sells Sanctuary-The Cult

Correct Mordor!

The Cult were formed in Bradford although their singer Ian Astbury is from the Wirral and Billy Duffy, the guitarist, is Scottish (I think).

You're right of course Paul - I couldn't remember who had provided all the answers on the old board but, given your track record, it probably was you  ;)!
