Ooh a wrestler picture puzzle quiz - cool, Harmonica.

The first pic is The Ugandan Giant called Kamala (of course, stated under the first pic  ;D) and the second is my favourite wrestler of all time , Giant Gonzalas who made his awful debut at the WWF Royal Rumble in 1993.

The connection between the two? Giant Gonzalas was Harvey Wippleman's way of seeking revenge when Undertaker put Kamala (the man in the first pic) in a coffin at Survivor Series 1992.

Very Good Bobby, and speaking of favorites.

That appears to be The Patriot, Harmonica. I think he appeared, most famously in WWF against Bret 'The Hitman' Hart around 1997.

I reckon he was the influence behind the Mr America thing with Hulk Hogan. Considering Hogan is the master of everything Marvel comics, he might as well have called himself 'Captain America'.  :D

I loved the patriot, and he was my all time favorite pro wrestler. I still dream of the day when he comes back and beats the hell out of Kurt Angle.

I think that is 'Gentleman' Chris Adams. Adams was a main player in USWA (feuding with Steve Austin would you believe) but became a mid-card jobber when he went to WCW.

Subject: Re: Guess The pro Wrestler

Written By: Harmonica on 07/01/04 at 8:44 am

no one know who that is?  It's Arn Anderson!

Here's a new one ( it may be hard to guess because that picture is of a 17 year old who only weighed 165-170 pounds at the time. He was told he was too small to be a pro wrestler. Not only did he get bigger, and get build as one of the strongest wrestlers nation-wide but he also became a great success in the WWE and WCW)

Yep! I would have definitely said Arn Anderson (I haven't looked down here for a while, Harmonica). The 'AA' on his trunks would have definitely reinforced the idea.  :)

I haven't a clue about the next picture, Harmonica - any clues?  :D

Subject: Re: Guess The pro Wrestler

Of course, 'The British Bulldog' Davy 'Boy' Smith. He had bulked up a lot! In his day, he was, pound for pound, one of the best wrestlers in the business. His Summerslam 1992 match against Bret Hart was such a sleeper Intercontinental title match. A match of that quality should have occurred for the WWF title!

3) Somebody with "Witch Doctor" in his name

I can certainly understand your point, Harmonica. It's Savio Vega (he used to wear a mask and call himself Kwang at the start of 1994). He was badly used (though he managed to get a short feud with Steve Austin). It went downhill for him when he became The Rock's henchman in The Nation of Domination.

It's Ax (Bill Eadie) and Smash (Barry Darsow) of Demolition. Perhaps one of the best (if not the best) tag teams in the WWF/E.

I must disagree!   :)  Demolition were weak.  The only reason they existed was because Vince couldn't sign the Road Warriors (L.O.D.) away from the NWA.  All of the best athletes in wrestling were in the NWA at that time (with the exception of Randy Savage, Bret Hart, and Shawn Michaels).
While the WWF were producing children's cartoons and lunchboxes (and nobody ever bled), the NWA was having scaffold matches, cage matches, Texas Death matches, and guys were getting busted open every night!

Once the L.O.D. finally came to the WWF, they clearly outclassed Demolition and Vince handed Hawk and Animal the belts almost immediately.  In the matches they had together, the Road Warriors carried them.  Bill Eadie (Masked Superstar - see picture below) was past his prime (and he was awesome in the 70s/early 80s) and Barry Darsow was only pushed because of his size.  One of the many reasons I watched more NWA!   ;)

Subject: Re: Guess The pro Wrestler

Written By: Harmonica on 08/02/04 at 11:20 pm

Stingr22 - While I'll agree with you on the Road Warriors being great, I'll have to disagree with your statements of Barry Darsow and Demolition.  Darsow wasn't the greatest in the ring but he was a character wrestler and he did a great job at that.  Diss Demolition all you want they were my favorite Tag Team and I am not alone, they are a lot of peoples favorite tag team.

Ok now more guessing games

Speaking of Tag Teams here's a tag team that I really liked and thought would go places but ended up lasting a very short while and never went anywhere.

We all have our own opinions, but all of my friends that were wrestling fans made fun of Demolition from day one.  They were always viewed as "Road Warrior rip-offs."  Even PWi and the other fan mags said the same.  But, I'm not here to argue, that's just what I think!  8)

It is 'Stunning' Steve Austin (when he had hair).

Demolition were ridiculed for being a 'Road Warrior' type package and they weren't scientific wrestlers either (which I thought added to the image not detracted from it) but their presence in the ring and the reactions they got from the crowd were triple what any 'La Resistance' or even 'Dudley Boyz' could muster without breaking a sweat.

Wow! Quite a guess there, Harmonica. I don't think he lasted long with the WWF if I remember correctly (a couple months in 1996 to 1997?). He was better off as The Patriot.

I can see why you said, Bad news Brown, Indy. Though Brown didn't smile that much in the WWF. It's Ahmed Johnson. He fought the Nation of Domination and then all of a sudden decided to join them  ??.  As mentioned by Harmonica, he didn't last long after that (end of 1997, early 1998?). I think he was the first (if not the only wrestler) dumb enough to wear ear-rings while wrestling in the ring.

Since that picture has been sitting for the last few days, I will give the "no-brainer" answer.  That would be Bad News Brown.

Now, who is this former Varsity Club member?

The Hollywood Blonds - perhaps one of the greatest short term tag teams in history!

Now, who is this "Russian" superstar?

Nikita Koloff......never understood how he went from a hated heel to a good guy so fast..so fast...same thing with Sgt Slaughter.

That's classic wrestling formula.  Two heels (Uncle Ivan and Crusher Kruschev) turn on another (Nikita) and then soon after, the hated heels double team a fan favorite (Dusty Rhodes).  Nikita goes in to get his revenge and ends up face to face in the ring with the ultimate babyface.  The heel and the face become tag team partners out of a mutual hatred and a new babyface is born.  I just loved that stuff!  8)
