Hi maddog...

#1. 'Life On Mars' - David Bowie

#3. 'The Size Of A Cow' - The Wonder Stuff

#8. 'Chick-Chick-Chicken' (don't ask!) - a very old song, so I'm not sure which artist you'd have in mind (my copy's by Joe Loss), but some precocious brat  little cherub called Natalie Casey did hit with it in '84...and I hang my head in shame as well as karen...!!

#20. 'Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite' - The Beatles

I was going to suggest this song but thought the lyric was 'I haven't had an egg since breakfast' (at least that's what I always sing!)

Hiya joedeertae - all correct, although the title of #13 is "Marrakesh Express", 'cos it's about a train ride. With ducks, and all.

#20. 'Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite' - The Beatles

Yep, correct in all particulars Paul.

#1 is brilliant, possibly my favourite Bowie song. I love #3 also.
A bit of internet reserach revealed that the earliest recording of #8 was by Harry Reser's Six Jumping Jacks in 1926. I don't know the Natalie Casey version.

Oh and Paul, I was relying on you to guess #14 'cos I don't think anyone else will get it, so get your thinking cap on!

Ah! Too true! Fantastic songs both (and for me to say something post-1990 was fantastic, it has to be...!!)

A bit of internet reserach revealed that the earliest recording of #8 was by Harry Reser's Six Jumping Jacks in 1926. I don't know the Natalie Casey version.

Whoa! That's even out of my ballpark...! However, according to my book of useless (and I do mean useless) info', Natalie Casey was (and still is) the youngest artist ever to have a UK chart hit (she was 3 at the time) and she later appeared in teeny soap 'Hollyoaks' (which I'm glad to say I've never seen...!)

Oh and Paul, I was relying on you to guess #14 'cos I don't think anyone else will get it, so get your thinking cap on!

I'm certain I know what it is (listens to CD - yep!), but I'm on my limit...if any other Brit wants a go (nudges karen...!), the artist has very unfortunate initials...!!

No offense, Maddog, but while you may have inteded "Life on Mars" by Bowie, the lyric also appears in Bush's "Everything Zen"

"...and Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Dave's on sale again"

Can anyone confirm this?

Bad luck Jared.  Close but not close enough.  The line in Everything Zen is

Minnie Mouse has grown up a cow

Ha! Well done KimberIndy. Ah, memories of of Val sitting in his rocking chair crooning away on his Saturday evening TV show, of course those were the days when the whole family could watch without fear of sex, violence & bad language, etc. etc. (in the style of a grumpy old bloke).
