It is Hagood Hardy yes :)

Here's a little trivia.  That song started off as a jingle for Salada Tea commercials in 1972.  Popular demand for it saw it released as a single in 1975 where it went #1 in Canada and even charted in the States

I'm not 100% sure about this one, but...

#30 sounds to me like Don't You Want My Love by Nicole (Nicole McLeod).

Now AFAIK Nicole's an American singer, which kinda makes me unsure... :-\\

Oh - and Life Is A Highway is by Tom Cochrane.

Hi Jason...just a couple...

#17. 'Stay Awhile' - The Bells
Stiffed in the UK, but a sizeable hit in the States...

#18. 'Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft' - Klaatu
...who everyone thought were the 'reformed' Beatles, which did their career no good at all...
This also stiffed here, but The Carpenters had their last British Top 10 hit with their cover of it...

3. One TIn Soldier - Coven

The song title is correct, but that is the cover version.  I am looking for the original artist.  A good guess though :)

Brenda Russell has dual citizenship. She was born in America, but raised in Canada part of life

Both Tom Cochrane and Nicole are one hit wonders in The Netherlands. "Life Is A Highway" only made it to #27 in Dutch Top 40.
"Don't You Want My Love" did much better: it made it to #9.

It is good to know Cochrane made it overseas.  That Nicole track came from the 1986 soundtrack to the film 'Ruthless People'.  IT only remained a club hit over here  :\'(

The song was actually written for Chantal Condor (of Voggue), but it was Nicole who had the hit with it :)

;D

There are others on the boards who remember it.  Painted Ladies remained a one hit wonder in America, but in Canada, it was one of the biggest hits of '73 and was one of many hits that Ian Thomas had :)

Hmmm..... now I bought the record when it was out, and I am positive it was the spring of 1974, 'cus it's in my orange record case, and my orange record case starts ca. March 1974.... ???

From the official Billboard Charts ...

Debut date | Song Title and Artist
10/27/1973 | Painted Ladies | Ian Thomas
