Subject: A-Z Artists: An Audio Quiz (killed)

Written By: Windbreaker05 on 03/12/06 at 8:09 pm

Greetings again, all! I've put together a little audio quiz. There are twenty-six sound clips, each with an artist representing a different letter of the alphabet. Solo artists were sorted by last name. The clips are not in alphabetical order. Listen to the clip and identify the title and artist. Each is in MP3 format. Don't cheat. Enjoy!

Initial limit = Four (4) Limit has bitten the dust.

There's a hint here now...

I've added the title for #2. Thanks for playing, all!
NOTE: I will be removing these clips from their web locations, so these links will be dead; however, if you want the clips for any reasons, message me and I can see that you get them.

Wow ... you've certainly got a good mix in that lot! I know heaps of tunes but the artists elude me. Anyway, here's four easy ones.

1. Oliver's Army - Elvis Costello (legend par excellence)
10. You're Moving Out Today - Carole Bayer Sager
14. Senses Working Overtime - XTC (one of the great underrated bands)
19. Walking on Sunshine - Suzy and the Banshees (Susie?)

Walrus

You're 3.5 for four! #19 you've got the right title, but it's not that group

Sorry, I didn't number them until the very end and then was too lazy to change the tag.

That one is also correct!

Hi there...

#3. 'Rock And Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life)' - Kevin Johnson

#17. 'You Belong To Me' - Duprees

#22. The title is 'Talk Of The Town' (The follow-up to 'Brass In Pocket'...)

#24. 'How Do I Live' - LeAnn Rimes
A rare occurrence...a 90s song I actually know! Mind you, at the time you could hardly escape it!

Almost perfect! Everything is correct except the artist for #24. Remember that "R" has already been represented by REO Speedwagon.

It's not LeAnn? Listens again...

It must be someone doing a great impersonation of her!

My book tells me that there was another version by Trisha Yearwood, which I've not heard (but we do need a 'Y'), so I'll throw that in as a guess...

Yep, it's Trisha. I always thought her voice was much richer than Rimes's on this particular tune.

Which was the one used in 'Con Air'.  Was that Trisha's version?

Very late on this quiz, but still managed to snatch these three:

#5: You must've put this one in to please me, 'cause it's a Dutch band called Full House. The song is called Standing On The Inside (originally recorded by Neil Sedaka).
One of the members of Full House was Frank Kramer, also a professional soccer player.

#7: Don't Stop Me Now - Queen

#11: Torn - Natalie Imbruglia

Correct on all counts!

I didn't know Full House were known/popular outside The Netherlands, all the more because it was a short-lived mishmash of musicians. As far as I know, they only released two singles. "Standing On The Inside" was the only one to chart, reaching #2 in 1976.

I didn't know anything about the group (thanks for the info) except that they were from the Netherlands. It's a cool little tune, though, so I decided to throw it in the mix.

I already thought that it might be them, but now I'm sure: it's Adam & The Ants. Don't know the song, though... might be Antmusic, it's the only one of their hit singles that I'm not familiar with... ???

It is an Adam Ant tune, but it's not that one. This one didn't chart US, but was a minor hit in the UK. Part of the title is in a language other than English.
