Subject: You're gonna LOVE this quiz! (FINAL ANSWERS REVEALED)

Written By: FaultyDog on 03/18/06 at 4:17 am

...At least, that's what I hope! I've put together this extremely mega jumbo lyrics quiz to keep y'all busy.
All titles that I'm after have the word "LOVE" in them. Most of them have been used in other quizzes, I'm sure, and I don't think the theme to this quiz is an innovative one either, but who cares?!
There may be two or three that no-one will recognize, but I'm taking the risk.

Please no cheating (as if you need to!), and LIMIT IS NOW OFF!!  to start with.

I'm sure you'll be singing along... :D

Good luck and have fun! :)

Current scores:
Paul 21.5
Windbreaker05 18.5
Sister Morphine 9
Sic0 6.5
mooster / 70sto80sGUY 6
FussBudgetVanPelt 5.5
whistledog 4.5
kairi747 / loki 13 3
gemini / jaytee 2.5
Doc Brown / Indy Gent / ktelqueen / maddog / nally 2
CeramicsFanatic 1.5
Darkbreed / Gaylon / Kryllith / Philip Eno / sweetie44 1
Tam 0.5

HINTS HINTS HINTS HINTS....

11. (1993) One hit wonder, as far as I know. They were Marc Gray, Garfield Bright, Carl Martin and Darnell van Rensalier.
They are also self-conscious and uncomfortable in the presence of others, albeit slightly misspelt.
48. (1986) Artist identified as Jermaine Jackson. Still looking for the title.
64. (1982) Artist identified as Yvonne Elliman. Still looking for the title.
66. (1988) Artist identified as Londonbeat. Still looking for the song.
70. (1997) Irish siblings, living in Germany (where they are far more popular). When they were very young, they sang David's Song.
78. (1993) A nearly forgotten girlie group (Kimberley Blake, Johna Cummings, Joselyne Jones and Ruth-Ann Roberts). Another one hit wonder, I'm afraid.
89. (1991) A Boy George project.
92. (1987) Artist identified as Donny Osmond. Still looking for the song.
93. (1986) He was leadsinger with Procol Harum, she was born in US but moved to The Netherlands and also sang "How Many Times". Her name is Lori Spee.
98. (1989) Artist identified as Spandau Ballet. Still looking for the song.
110. (1997) Artist identified as Eternal. Still looking for the song.

Hi Luke! Nice to "see" you. :)

I can give you credit on all six, although... #41 needs a second artist (a blues legend), and as for #75: you probably know that Ronny wasn't credited for this song (although he DID sing it), but who was/were?

Modified to add:
I also need the original artist for #52, please.

Hi Henk,

Losing my virginity in this forum now.

Here's my answers:

107 Arthur Baker - The Message Is Love
91 The Moody Blues - Had to fall in love
87 House of Lords - Love Don't Lie
94 Stevie Wonder - Because I love you
95 Albert Hammond - Give a little love
97 Gloria Estefan - Falling in love

These are mostly correct (except for the artists for #107, 94, and 95), but...

By the way, isn't 'google' wonderful (  :D ;D :D ). Well, I actually DO know one of the songs (91), but would have struggled for some time to get it.

...I'm not sure how to take this... :-\\ you mean you've used Google to find or check the answers? 'cause that's not allowed. You have to answer them from memory.

I've given you the benefit of the doubt this time, since it's your first. ;)

#30 is the very country sounding Labelled With Love by Squeeze
#61 is Caravan of Love by Isley-Jasper-Isley, or the accapella version by The Housemartins, which I enjoy much more than the original

The artist in #94 - Stevie B

I have made a few mistakes...  :o

Some of the artists I thought were the original ones turned out NOT to be (Donny Osmond and Nat "King" Cole, to be precise). So I had to strike 'em out.

Sorry Philip Eno and jaytee.. :-[.

Now as for your answers... not bad, not bad at all. You got the artists all right, as well as the titles for #82 and #84. You can have another go at the remaining ones.

Okay Henk...I'll see what I can clean up, clues or otherwise...

#15. 'After The Love Has Gone' - Princess (I prefer Desiree Hislop, myself!)

#36. 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' - Brian May (although Fred did record a version with Queen which was released after his death...)

#59. 'I Love Your Smile' - Shanice

#71. 'Love is Strange' - Mickey & Sylvia ('Sylvia' went on to form Sugarhill Records...)

#80. 'Need Your Love So Bad' - Little Willie John

#83. 'Love And Pride' - King

#90. It's A Love Thing - Whispers

#101. 'Come Back My Love' - Wrens

#116. 'I'm Gonna Love You Too' - Buddy Holly originally, but there was also a version by a group called The Hullaballoos...best known for their ultra-moppy peroxide blonde hair (which was probably outrageous in the mid-60s!)

Hm...I see you're still looking at me expectedly...

Oh, here you are, then...

23. (1991) Her real name is Marta Marrera. One of her songs was recently used by Eminem.(Remember this: Step by step, one by one, they all fall down...)
Martika, but can't name a song that fits

Right artist, not the right song.

23. (1991) Her real name is Marta Marrera. One of her songs was recently used by Eminem.(Remember this: Step by step, one by one, they all fall down...)
Martika, but can't name a song that fits

It may not have been a hit anywhere, I'm not sure. But it is Martika alright!

39. (1977) Artist identified as First Choice. Still looking for the title. Medic please!?
Doctor Love?

That's 100% correct!

40. (1989) This "little" band has been around since 1968. Rusty Young, Rick Furay, Jim Messina, George Grantham and Randy Meisner.

Two correct artists.

57. (1989) Son to Roxie Roker (aka Helen Willis). He's always on the run.
Let Love Reign - Lenny Kravitz

It's "Let Love Rule", but it's yours! ;)

64. (1982) Artist identified as Yvonne Elliman. Still looking for the title.
Love Me

I'm afraid I can't let you have that one. If it's any help, the song was covered in 1989 by Hazell Dean.

67. (1987) Kevin MacMichael, Nick Van Eede, Martin Beedle and Colin Farley. They just died in your arms.
I've Been In Love Before - Cutting Crew?

Another correct answer.

88. (1990) This song was remade in 1992 by the same duo (Bill Drummond & Jimmy Cauty), altering the lyrics but keeping this part. They're also known as the Timelords.
What Time Is Love - KLF?

...or  "America: What Time Is Love". So, yeah, that's it.

92. (1987) He also sang #53 (and I don't mean Paul Anka). He's brother to Alan, Wayne, Merril, Jay, Marie and "Little" Jimmy.
Donny Osmond...

That's right too, Andrew.

105. (1996) Former member of Take That, but not the most successful one - and it's not Mark Owen.
Gary Barlow, but only know one of his solo tunes and this isn't it

Gary Barlow it is. I believe this was his first (and most successful?) single as a solo artist.

Hi once more, Henk...

Going by clues only now (I'm afraid to say!) and also my 'timeframe' (so that's the 90s singles onwards out!)

#21. 'F.L.M.'
(Oh, you wanted brackets too...it's an acronym for 'Fun, Love, Money' although I don't think it was 'bracketed' on our single release...)

#24. 'Love Reaction' - Divine
(based on New Order's 'Blue Monday' if memory serves, or was it a remix?)

#65. The only song of his from that year that I can remember with 'Love' in the title was 'Do You Feel My Love', but I don't recall these lyrics in it...

#92. Ditto with Donny...I only remember 'Soldier Of Love' and this ain't it!

#115. 'I Love You' - Yello (Heh! Good clue!)

You got the right artist, but the wrong song. Of course it's the other one that has "love" in the title.

I only know two songs by Martika, who I'm sure is the artist for# 23, the irritating 'Toy Soldier' & the very pleasant 'Love Thy will be done' (which I submit).

That's 100% correct! :)

As for #68, I'm sure it has to be Nana Mouskouri (spelling??), sure I have that song on a CD, & it's the only tune of hers that I both know and like, but for now it's title/the tune escapes me (won't cheat by finding it). Hopefully it'll come to me b4 anyone else solves it.
:)

Title for #68 just come into my head .. reckon it's called 'Only love'

:)

And that's right too. About the only song of Nana that I like. (btw: it was a #1 hit in Dutch Top 40)

Not sure myself if it was on our single release, but it was charted that way anyhow.

#24. 'Love Reaction' - Divine
(based on New Order's 'Blue Monday' if memory serves, or was it a remix?)

First there was "Love Reaction", then there was the remix using "Blue Monday" - which made it slightly more popular.

#65. The only song of his from that year that I can remember with 'Love' in the title was 'Do You Feel My Love', but I don't recall these lyrics in it...

That's because there not in the song. I'm looking for another tune.

#92. Ditto with Donny...I only remember 'Soldier Of Love' and this ain't it!

This may not have been a hit (or a single release for that matter) anywhere but here...

#115. 'I Love You' - Yello (Heh! Good clue!)

But you got that one! :)
