Subject: Classic Rock quiz -- FINISHED!!! Congrats to Windbreaker!

Written By: scumbie on 03/25/06 at 6:13 pm

OK...only one artist is represented more than once, and each song begins with a different letter of the alphabet (NOT in order).  Q, X, and Z were not used.  There might be a couple of songs that are not exactly what some may consider "classic rock," but the artists are all firmly in the classic rock genre.  Good Luck.  Oh, and let's limit it to 4 until further notice.  This may be WAY too easy.

EDIT NOTE (revised):  I goofed and actually used a lyric from one of the songs, rather than its title.  Don't know what I was thinking.  So I'm removing it (as of 10:30 p.m. 3/25/06).  It was #4 (not going to tell you what it was because a) I'm embarrassed and b) I'll probably use the song in a later list).  I won't bother renumbering the rest of the list.  And now, in addition to Q, X, and Z, there is also no K.  Sorry, I'm an idiot.

Hi there!

Nice quiz! :) Unfortunately, classic rock isn't really my thing... Still, I'm pretty sure #17 must be Just A Gigolo... was that David Lee Roth?  ???

That's what I was going for, yeah.  Should give you double credit for that.

#18 (How about) 'United we Stand, Divided we fall' - Brotherhood of Man  (??)

& perhaps #19 'Daughter of Darkness' Tom Jones (??)

Nope.  All of the bands/artists are a little more "mainstream" classic rock.

#22 Shook Me All Night Long - ACDC?

Nope.  That starts with a "Y," which has already been used.  (It's "You Shook Me All Night Long").  But you are correct in that this is the second song from one of the artists already on the list.

Yep to all 3 (now that you mention it, maybe it was just the album name.  I had to go dig out the CD to check and there is no song on it called "Eat a Peach."  For some reason, though, I've got a melody in my head associated with those words.  I'll have to investigate further, but since it was what I was thinking when I wrote the clue, you got it.)

#19: Voodoo Chile - Jimi Hendrix Experience

Si, senor.  For the record (pardon the pun), "Voodoo Chile" is actually a long jam session on the Electric Ladyland album.  I think it's track 3 or 4.  The last track is "Voodoo Child (slight return)."  It is the song version of that jam that everyone is more familiar with.

Yes it is, and based on your knowledge of some of the other songs on this list, I'll bet you've heard it.

"I know a thing or two about her.
I know she'll only make you cry.
She'll let you walk the streets beside her.
But when she wants, she'll pass you by.
(Chorus)
Everybody says she's looking good,
and the lady knows it's understood.
Strutter ."

I'll wait until tomorrow night for somebody to give the band name.  If no one does by then, I'll fill it in and close this quiz out.  Congrats, by the way.

OK, I guess everyone gives up.  Strutter was the first song on the first album by the band KISS.
