Subject: April Fool Quiz (killed)

Written By: Windbreaker05 on 04/01/06 at 3:24 pm

Hello all. :) I have to admit, I completely dislike the observance of April Fool's Day, and I tend to avoid it. However, it does make for an easy quiz theme, so, what the heck. All of the answers to this contain April or Fool in some form. Give title and artist. Don't cheat. Have fun!

Initial limit = Five (5)

I've added some hints, but the limit's not off yet, so still keep yourself to five total.

Limit's gone!

1. You've got it all in the palm of your hand
scumbie (Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man) / Styx)

2. I'm so tired of trying. I always end up crying.
maddog (Fool For Your Loving / Whitesnake)

3. Got a love that's hard to find. Got the boy I wish was mine.
Paul (She's a Fool / Lesley Gore)

4. I keep them in a memory bouquet.
Gaylon (Pieces of April / Three Dog Night)

5. I've never been the kind this lucky before but that changed when you walked through my door
Indy Gent (Joe Cocker) - song title?
The song title asks a question, and it has no month in it
This song is from 1990.
It was written by Diane Warren.
"What Are You Doing With a Fool Like Me?"

6. Need some gal to be my one and only, ooh-ooh
Different lyric: "It was a Saturday night without a whole lot shakin'"
70's hit for a Canadian group
The lead singer requested you to stand tall.
Where's Zella? Anyway, this tune shares its name with a Frank Zappa song.
"Dancing Fool" by The Guess Who

7. It seems that I'm the only one that I have been thinking of
Paul (What Kind of Fool Am I / Anthony Newley among others)

8. But nobody wants to know him
tomario (Fool on the Hill / Beatles or Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66)

9. There's no exception to the rule.
nally (Everybody Plays the Fool / Main Ingredient)

10. June, she'll change her tune.
mooster (April Come She Will / Simon and Garfunkel)

11. People, you can never change the way they feel
Tanya1976 (Kissing a Fool / George Michael)

12. I was dazzled by your kisses, blinded by your charms.
Sister Morphine (Fool's Paradise / The Crickets)

13. Anybody else would surely know he's watching her go
DanootaAndMe (What a Fool Believes / Doobie Brothers)

14. Breathing all the clean air, sitting in the sun
scumbie (Fool For the City / Foghat)

15. Every star's a wishing star that shines for you
kairi747/Gaylon (April Love / Pat Boone)
kairi747 (also recorded by Ray Coniff)

16. I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone
DanootaAndMe (Fooled Around and Fell In Love / Elvin Bishop Group)

17. I don't care. True love has found us now.
The only entry to use two theme words
This was the theme from the movie of the same name.
The artist has a sister Dee Dee and cousin Whitney
This artist had a huge hit as part of a collaborative effort remaking a Rod Stewart song

"You're the One For Me" by April

28. I won't be your second choice

A hit in versions by two different groups, one of which also sang such tunes as "May I" and "Swinging Tight"

Through the beauty of the Internet, I have been able to confirm his version exists, but not that it has vocals, so for now I'll just give you title credit :)

Hi Andrew...managed to scrape a few of what's left...

#3. 'She's A Fool' - Lesley Gore

#7. 'What Kind Of Fool Am I' - loads of artists, but I'm going for Tony Newley (as he wrote it!)
If this isn't acceptable, I've got about two dozen others you can take your pick from!

#23. 'If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody' - originally James Ray, which later became a very big hit for Freddie & The Dreamers...

(#20. is horrifyingly familiar...I'll sleep on that one!)

Hullo :)

You've picked one of the two versions I'm familiar with for #7 (Goulet is the other) but I've nothing against looking up those I don't know :) The rest are correct also.

#20 is probably one of the harder ones on the quiz (I included it because one theme word had such pitiful few other qualifying answers) but hopefully it will hit you!

Well, this whole thing has had me stuffed, so I've done some backward engineering and come up with a wild guess. One of these songs I reckon is Dragon's April Sun in Cuba and the only one that isn't taken and sounds like their style is #14.

So that's my guess: #14 April Sun in Cuba - Dragon.

Walrus

i don't care about the credit, but the ray coniff cover did have vocals or i wouldn't have recognized the lyrics!!  we used to listen to that 8 track all the time when i was little.  my sister and i called it "the red girl tape" because there was a picture of a girl on it and that tape was red.  we were very creative weren't we?!!  :D

Sounds good to me! I'll go back and amend it to reflect :) I know you don't care about the credit, but I enjoy learning of new versions when other people are familiar with them, so I appreciate the info
