Subject: C is for....Covers (Final answers revealed.)

Written By: FaultyDog on 06/20/06 at 12:08 pm

Some may be cheesy... :D

Others may be cringeworthy... :-complete crap.. :P

...but the one thing they've got in common: they're all covers!

I guess you know what to do: have a listen, give me the title of the song and the artist, and give me the name of the original artist (or first known recording).

There's various points to be won in this quiz. Unless indicated otherwise (see below), each correct answer is worth one point.

NO MORE LIMIT!

Good luck everyone!
:)

I don't think so, but then...I made the darn thing! ;D

Most of the cover versions date from the 1980s or early 1990s, but there's a few from 1995 and more recent years.

#4. 'Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini'
Original by Brian Hyland...covered here by (cringe) Bombalurina

#5. 'Run To You'
Originally Bryan Adams...this dance 'monstrosity' was by Rage

#14. 'Sealed With A Kiss'
Originally that man Brian Hyland (again!)...covered by Jason Donovan

#15. 'Ev'ry Time we Say Goodbye'
Originally Ella Fitzgerald (the definitive version which has somehow never charted in Britain!  :o) and covered here by Simply Red

It may have been a monstrosity, it did better than the original! ;D

#14. 'Sealed With A Kiss'
Originally that man Brian Hyland (again!)...covered by Jason Donovan

No, not Brian Hyland. That's what I thought too, if that's any comfort. It was in fact recorded by a vocal quartet two years before Brian Hyland recorded his version.

#15. 'Ev'ry Time we Say Goodbye'
Originally Ella Fitzgerald (the definitive version which has somehow never charted in Britain!  :o) and covered here by Simply Red

It's not Ella either, but a singer I'd never even heard of before.

#30 sounds like Jimmy Somerville
#20 sounds like Saint Etienne (I can't find my GH CD to be sure)

#11 is Heaven originally by Bryan Adams (DJ Sammy did a cover of it, but unless it's some acoustical version, then I guess it's not DJ sammy LOL)
#10 Master and Servant originally by Depeche Mode.  No idea who is covering it

#20. 'Fever'
Little Willie John did it first...and this is Madonna...

#25. 'I Put A Spell On You'

#26. 'Never Let Her Slip Away'

#36. 'Games People Play'
Originally Joe South...this cover (judging by that guy's voice) is by Inner Circle...

#37. 'This Wheel's On Fire'
