Subject: F is for...(done)

Written By: FaultyDog on 09/02/06 at 8:30 am

Fabulous Fictitious Forty!

This time I have created my own Top 40, based on peak positions reached in Dutch Top 40.
If all of these songs had been released around the same time, this is what Top 40 could have looked like.
I'll leave it to you to decide whether that's a good thing or not... ::)

Songs are listed in reverse order, so #1 in this quiz peaked at #40 and so on.

As usual, limit = 4 to start with.

Have fun! :)

#20 The Logical Song ~ Supertramp

Assuming you meant #20 in Top 40 (that's #21 in this quiz) you are absolutely right. :)

Now in your opinion, is it a good or a bad thing that this song "only" got to #20 in Dutch Top 40? ???

It should had been higher.

Well, I disagree. I think Supertramp is way overrated anyway - but that's just my opinion. ;)

Hey Paul - thanks for the compliment. :) I'm hoping this quiz will get finished (that would be a change!)

You got 4 for 4, of course.

And yes, Miquel (or Michael, for that's her real name) is Sinitta's mom.

Good call!  :) I thought that would prove to be one of the hardest ones in this quiz (because it's fairly recent).

Don't know about Canada of course, but "Tango" was her first and last hit in my little country.

I'm so glad people like this quiz! :)

You got 3.5 correct answers, so you still got a half left should you want to have a go at one of the other questions.

Me too Henk, lovin' this quiz  :) - lots from "my era" too (early to mid Eighties that is)

#5 is Girlfriend In A Coma by The Smiths  (*)
#11 is the song "Out Here On My Own" from the film "Fame", was originally by Irene Cara I think but this is definitely not her!
#20 is "Shine Silently" by Nils Lofgren
#33 is "The Medicine Song" by Stephanie Mills (and I remember thinking she was really hot in the video for this....)

(*) One of the funniest things I ever heard was on the long running BBC radio comedy show "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" where one of the silly games is to try and sing the lyrics of one song to the tune of another. One of the classics in this game was Tony Hawks singing "Girlfriend In A Coma" to the tune of "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" - try it, it really works!

And another 3.5 gone!  8) This one's really flying.

As for #11: it's not Irene Cara, no. This singer is WAY younger (well, she was back then anyway).

Much to my own embarrassment I have to admit that I'm not familiar with Tiny Tim's tune. :-[ In my defense: I was only two years old back then.

I knew you'd get that one, but I'm afraid it's too little too late.

I've grown tired of waiting only to find out no-one knows the songs I've used, so I'm gonna wrap this one up and call it quits.

Thanks for playing anyway - hope you enjoyed it.

I'm a little ashamed of myself for not knowing others.  I have Eaten Alive on 12" and Manuel Goodbye on 45, but I haven't listened to them enough to recognize them  :-[
