It's time for a new audio quiz, don't you think? Well I do!  :P
So for this quiz I've collected 46 works of art from Dutch music industry. All songs are in Dutch, so you can't sing along...
Or can you? Those tunes sound awfully familiar... ::)

Yes, that's right: it's time for some cover versions again! Can you give me the original titles of the tunes?
(I'm not gonna ask for the Dutch titles, 'cause you wouldn't have a clue!).

And for 5 bonus points: which song doesn't fit in, and why?

FYI: The higher the number in this quiz, the less the Dutch lyrics tally with the English/Italian/Spanish version.

As always: good luck and have fun!  :)

Hints!

02. This song by Abba was also performed by the Kingston Trio.
08. Sisters Vicky, Sylvia and Diana Villegas (born April 18, 1965) scored a #14 US hit with this song in 1991.
10. Not a hit in UK or US for Agnetha Faltskog.
19. An obscure song by Johnny Otis. It didn't chart in UK or US.
21. She's Celine Dion.... This song reached #7 in UK in 1995.
22. The singer is best known for The Days of Pearly Spencer. This song apparently only made it in The Netherlands.
26. A song by Italian singer Laura Pausini. A Spanish version was released in US, but it never made it to the charts.
40. Love Unlimited with a song that only hit #96 in US Black Singles chart in 1980

Excellent work Henk, I enjoyed this too!

Thanks Graham! :) It's too bad I could only find 46 songs to fit the theme, else I'd consider making a second quiz.

#3  Ghost Riders In The Sky
#4  Y Viva Espana!
#7  Deck Of Cards (sure I can hear something about the "Ace" and the "Three" in there!)
#12 My Way

I'm sorry to tell you that #12 was already answered, and #3 is incorrect. But the other two are spot-on. 8)

Ah shoot....but if I can have another two guesses, here goes....

#14 is unmistakably a Johnny Cash song, even in Dutch - Man in Black
#31 sounds like the old reggae track by Dillinger - Cokane in my Brain. It sounds like the part where it goes "a knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork", but in Dutch of course.

You're absolutely right about Johnny Cash, but this is not the right song. :(

#18. 'The Universal Soldier' - Buffy Sainte-Marie (or Donovan)
#28. 'I Can't Stop Loving You' - Don Gibson (or Ray Charles)

I'm not doing too well here and I can't really make a guess at what the Dutch lyrics are all about....however I'll make another guess, is it "San Quentin"?

P.S. That Dillinger song at #31 was a favourite at a nightclub I used to go to regularly back in the 80s - happy memories, thanks Henk, I'd not thought about this song for years!

#45 A Little Peace - Nicole (Eurovision winner)

You're spot-on, Gambo! 8) Patrick Zabe was indeed the first to record "Agadou". He was followed by the Saragossa Band (1981) and Black Lace (1984).

"The Chicken Song" was in fact inspired by/a parody of "Agadou", so it's no surprise the two sound alike.

#45 A Little Peace - Nicole (Eurovision winner)

Bravo! :) I think Nicole was a one hit wonder in UK, but she did hit Dutch Top 40 another 4 times.

Nicole did have another hit in the UK with Give Me More Time, but the record only reached 75, and lasted only one week in the charts.

Zabe's version is legendary in Canada.  Kellogg's recently paid tribute by doing a parody of it for a great Mini-Wheats commercial

I said these weren't as easy as they sounded!  :D

I actually 'got' this one before the clues came out (just waiting for the limit to go!)

#37. 'Davy's On the Road Again' - Manfred Mann's Earth Band

...and a couple from the clues (should have really got these without!)

#13. 'All I Ever Need Is You' - Sonny & Cher (but you knew that!  ;))
#24. 'Send Me The Pillow You Dream On' - Johnny Tillotson (which you probably knew as well!  :D)

No, so I might as well give that one away.

The "odd one out" is #4. Why? Because the Dutch version is in fact the original version.
