They did hail from Blighty...London, I gather...

And there was three of 'em in the group at the time of this one and only British hit of theirs (early '84)...

Although it didn't exactly set the charts alight (it spluttered up to #24), it was 'big in the clubs', as they say...

Maiden did hit with it the following year and as far as I know, was the only time they resorted to a cover version!

And you're dead right, it is a far inferior version to the 'Hooks, who just had one week of British chart glory at #73... :o

Hiya Paul and Karen, some great memories here :)

#6  Together We Are Beautiful - Fern Kinney
#10 Uptown Top Ranking - Althea & Donna (a John Peel show favourite)
#12 Matchstick Men And Matchstalk Cats And Dogs - Brian and Michael (I was at the Lowry Centre in Salford just the other day....)

#28 Echo Beach - Martha And The Muffins (a regular feature on the Annie Nightingale Sunday night show in the 80s)

Heh!

Not so much 'sung', but 'growled' by the late Lee Marvin (yes, that one!)

In one of those incredible-but-true moments, this managed to keep The Beatles off the top of the British chart with 'Let It Be'... :o
