Subject: N is for....Numbers One In Dutch Top 40 [Last answers revealed]

Written By: Henk on 04/07/07 at 2:51 am

Here's a New quiz with Numerous Nameless Novelties for you to Nibble at! :D

All songs in this quiz have two things in common...
Find either one and I'll award you 3 bonus points.

Paul guessed the songs all went to #1 in Dutch Top 40.
Paul and Windbreaker05 share the points for the second connection:
None of these songs reached #1 in UK Top 40 and/or US Billboard Hot 100/Pop Singles Chart.

For the rest...it's business as usual, without a limit.

Hope you enjoy this one as much as you did the others.
:)

Scores so far:

7.00 + 4.50 Paul
8.00 + 1.50 Windbreaker05

Seems to me like you know a bit more than one, Mike. ;)

Numbers 2, 31 and 34 are spot-on, but #22 isn't, I'm afraid.  I can see where you're coming from though, and to tell the truth...it runs in the family. ::)

#1 Saved By The Bell ~ Robin Gibb
#12 Why (Must We Fall In Love) ~ Diana Ross & The Supremes & The Temptations
#13 Crazy ~ Seal
#14 Arms Of Mary ~ Sutherland Brothers & Quiver

I can see a common link, but I am trying to think of the best way to phrase it.

Hello Philip. :)

Apart from #12 all answers are correct. #12 is actually quite close, to be honest.

Hi Henk...hope you're enjoying some of the fine weather we're having at present!

Okay...

#6. 'It Keeps Raining' - Bitty McLean (originally a Fats Domino number)
#10. 'Tell It To My Heart' - Taylor Dayne
#12. 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love' - Diana Ross
#15. 'Lay Your Love On Me' - Racey

Hidden theme? Well, I don't know about two, but I'll try one...

I'm gonna stick my neck out here (ouch!) and guess that they were all chart-toppers in your native Holland...

I'm sorry, that's not right. There are hits from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s in this quiz.

Keep trying, though... :)

Hello Gaylon! :)

Three more songs to tick off my list. 8)

Although "Cara Mia" dates back from 1965, it didn't top the Dutch charts until 1980. I don't know why it took them so long... :-\\

Hiya Henk, here's my guesses on the remaining songs:

#19 - it is definitely Gilbert O'Sullivan singing but I don't recognise the song
#23 - Teardrops - Womack on Womack
#24 - I Like To Move It - Reel to Real featuring the Mad Stuntman
#26 - this sounds like the song "Witch Queen Of New Oreleans" by Redbone, so I'll guess Redbone for the artist but again I don't know this song
#43 - This Is Not America - David Bowie

Well, Graham... you're absolutely right (assuming you meant #38 instead of #43). :)

Sad thing is though they've all been answered before. :( Due to the server being down we've lost three days of posting. I'll have to restore it.

Of course you had no way of knowing, so I'm gonna give you credit anyway. ;)
