With the success of Volume 1, I thought i'd get the jump on the sequel, so I am proud to present to oyu ...

Originally I wasn't gonna put Freddie James in the quiz, but some site I read about him said he hit #3 in the Netherlands.  It always comes as a pleasant surprise when I see Canadian bands/singers in International Charts, that I never expected to see there :)

In my book it says he's American... :-\\

Anyway...he was in my "Kid's Stuff" quiz, if you remember that one, 'cause he was only 15 at the time. And yes, he did hit #3. :)

Modified to add:

I just checked to make sure: although I used just about the same clipping in my quiz, it didn't get answered then... :\'(

Freddie James was born in America, but his family relocated to Canada in the mid 70s, so he got Canadian Citizenship.  I never used to know this until last year when I saw him in the chart.  In the former Canadian charts, little logos were placed next to the artists who qualified for CanCon ...

What that logo means

I remember your Kids Stuff quiz, but I wouldn't have known Freddie at the time.  It's a song I remember, but I didn't remember it to hear it until a few months ago when I finally found a copy of it.  It is not an easy song to locate lol

I knew number 31 but I couldn't recall the name of the song or band until I read a thread you started
elsewhere on the boards, would this be considered cheating? When I read it I said "THAT'S IT!" so,

#31...People Are Still Having Sex....La Tour?

#45...Never Knew Love Like This Before....Stephanie Mills?

#50 Stutter Rap - Morris Minor and the Majors

#50 was also an 80s one hit wonder here in the UK for one of my favourite comedians, Tony Hawks. His quest for a follow up hit is documented in his book "One hit Wonderland", worth a read - he achieved it, incidentally, in Romania, with Norman Wisdom on lead vocals and Tim Rice on toy saxophone...

Yes indeed, Sir Tim Rice, collaborator with Andrew Lloyd-Weber etc. The link to the Tony Hawks website describes the book and my memory of it was flawed, it was Albania of course, not Romania!

Apparently Norman Wisdom was the only western film star whose movies were allowed in Albania during all the years of the Communist regime, based on his character of "Pitkin" as a downtrodden worker getting one over on the bourgeois management. Even now, Norman (actually he's a knight as well, so Sir Norman) is mobbed everywhere he goes in Albania, which was part of Tony Hawks' cunning plan in getting a hit single over there...

I'm not familiar with any of those...

Patrick Juvet had two hits in The Netherlands, but both were in English ("Got A Feeling" and "I Love America"). As it happens, both were hits in 1978 and both peaked at #26.

Great quiz, Jason. Looking forward to your next one. :)

Thanks Henk! :)

'I Love America' is a great song!.  It was a popular disco hit here, but it sadly never reached Top 40 mainstream :(
