and what about #12, is it Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker

Not bad CeramicsFanatic!  You got three (#7, #10, #13) right!  Although its not right, good guess on #5.  It isn't Crazy For You, but it does sound very similar.

Hello Bob. :) Excellent first time, and challenging (to say the least)...a few are mere impossible, if you ask me! ;)

Still, I managed to squeeze out four that I think I recognize:

#6: Loco In Acapulco - Four Tops (if it isn't, it should be! ;D)
#9: I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany
#27: Walk Like An Egyptian - Bangles
#34: I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Karma to you, sir. Looking forward to your next contribution already...

Great stuff Robert, I enjoyed this quiz....can't see how anyone will get #8 though!

My guesses for the ones that remain:

#33 Smooth Operator - Sade  (not 100% sure on this one...)
#36 In Your Room - The Bangles

Hi wildcard.  Unfortunately, #12 is not White Wedding.

#27: Walk Like An Egyptian - Bangles
#34: I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Thanks Henk!  You got three right (#9 #27 #34).  Congrats!  And for #6... well.. i have hints ready. :)

#35 Love Is A Battlefield - Pat Benatar

Though it is a good guess, its not Love Is A Battlefield.

Henk beat me to #27 but I thought #6 sounded like Get It On - Power Station

Hi Karen.  Henk was correct. If nothing else, even the wrong guesses have pretty good intros! :)

#33 Smooth Operator - Sade  (not 100% sure on this one...)
#36 In Your Room - The Bangles

I agree maddog... #8 is the toughest one.  It is a rather generic drum beat.  I almost didn't put it in, but I wanted to have 40 hits.  Now I see in some of the guesses there were a lot of other songs I could have put in that would have been a great replacement for it. :-

Now a question for you all... since this is my first quiz I am not 100% certain of the protocol.  Specifically how long before the limit is dropped and when are hints usually given.  I'm sure it varies somewhat  but is there a general rule of thumb?  Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thanks!

It is entirely up to you.  Personally I like it if people leave the quiz for a couple of days or so to give people a chance to have a go.  I sometimes find a quiz has been posted, the limits dropped and hints added before I've read the quiz and I check the board most weekdays!

Very good job Doc!  You got three of them right! (#11, #17, #22)  #5 is a bit of a stickler because, as I've learned based on from the guesses to this quiz, a lot of 80s songs start with three drum beats with approximately the same tempo.

And that closes out the game!  Good job everyone who played!

Also, not to take away from mooster's accomplishment, but there was a clue for number 8: "They didn't use hocus-pocus to make this song number one."  I didn't know the protocol was to keep the clues in when the question was answered.  Sorry!  :-[  So there is no more confusion, I have put the clue back.
