Subject: P is for...Pictures [Finished]

Written By: Henk on 05/18/07 at 1:43 pm

Haven't seen something like this for some time, so I figured...let's go for it. :D

All pictures in this quiz are parts of 7" sleeves
from my very own record collection.

You know what to do.

Note: This one may be a little tricky, 'cause sleeve designs
may have been different for other parts of the world. :-\\

Nevertheless...good luck and enjoy!

You got 3.5 correct, Jason. #22 is indeed Lime, but for this quiz I need a song title. Like I said, they're all 7" sleeves.
And for the record: the 7" also was b/w "White Horse" in The Netherlands.

Hi Michelle. :)

You're right on #31. It is indeed the Fat Boys. 8)

I'm sorry to say that your (other) guesses are all incorrect. Though in a way, you're on the right track with #9. It's not Michael Jackson, but there's a distinct connection. And #32...the song in this quiz was released when India Arie was only three years old. ;)

It's never easy to bring bad news to anybody... :-\\...but still, I have to. Your guesses are both incorrect. :\'( I can see how you got to #26, but that would have been too much of a giveaway. Hello ladybug  :)

You're quite right. It is Yaz (or Yazoo, as they were called over here), so you've earned half a point. I'm looking for a single, though, not an album. ;)

Modified to add:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand....Welcome back to the boards.  :) I noticed it's been more than two years since your previous post (yes, it's been that long!).

32- Mirriam Mekeba? (ooh forgive spelling)

Not Miriam Makeba, no. The song I've used is a cover version, but I'm not sure if that's any help.

37--I've seen those happy feet posed somewhere before! ahahahagh.

Hardly happy feet... It's an anti war song from 1985.

I've added sound clippings and removed the limit.

You got 5.5 more to add to your score, Jason. :) #26 isn't Dave Edmunds (although he was in Rockpile) and I can tell you that it's not Nick Lowe either. (Now why does that name sound familiar...?)
And I'm looking for another song for #28.

I only know Edmunds and Lowe with Rockpile

As for #28, is it 'Heart'?

Hooray!

#6. (It was only a question of time before I got it!) 'A Question Of Time' - Depeche Mode
#36. 'I Love The Sound Of Breaking Glass' - Nick Lowe (surprisingly, a totally different sleeve from our one, which is what threw me!)
#38. 'It's Going To Happen' - Undertones

Well of course you do. The one I used for #26 was a no-hit wonder. ;D :D

Indeed. 8)

Well done, Paul. :) I knew you'd get the hints eventually. ;)

...but I'm quite sure you know #10 and #35 as well. Does the name Dave Bartram ring any bells? ::)

It does, as he's the lead singer of Showaddywaddy...

...and that's undeniably them at #35., but it's not a song of theirs I immediately recognise!  :-\\

So I'm gonna hazard a guess at one of their 'lesser' hits...'Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Hearts' (?)

Do tell me, I pray. ::)

Not a big hit, but a hit nonetheless - and you've hit the nail on the head. :)

Hey, Henk!

10 is Andrew Ridgeley's "Shake"

Hullo Andrew! :)

You got it. 8) I was surprised that one hadn't been answered already. But of course, once you know the answer, the hint (finally) makes sense.

And I think that pretty much concludes this quiz. I'm expecting no answers for #16 and #26, so I'm giving them away:

16: Not grazing in the grass
"Grazing In The Grass" is a track by Hugh Masakela, so it was him I was looking for. The song is "Don't Go Lose It Baby".

26: Rockpile guitarist who has Speakers In The Ceiling, Speakers In The Door...

An obscure song, I admit, and an obscure artist too. It's Billy Bremner - Loud Music In Cars.
