Subject: Crimes Of Rock... (CLUES ADDED, 1 Crime to go!)

Written By: Doc Brown on 07/28/08 at 12:27 am

You have the right to remain silent... if you don't know any answers. All the songs here deal with a specific crime, and you'll get three points for naming the artist, title & crime sung about. I know it's been awhile since I've posted a quiz, but hopefully this will get me started again, and as far as my absence goes, I hope no one's taken 'offense'! Limit's 4. Good luck all, and hey... be careful in here!

Wow!  Great to have you back.  I miss your quizzes and this one is really cool.  Let's see... I'm sure the songs are correct, I just suck at legal terms...

#2 is Murder by Numbers by the Police (Manslaughter)

#3 is Take the Money and Run by Steve Miller Band (Armed Robbery)

#8 is Hell is For Children by Pat Benatar (Child Abuse)

#11 is Dirty Laundry by Don Henley (Slander?)

What's the limit?

Ok, I see my guess at motive for #2 is incorrect.  Is it premeditated murder, then?

Hi Doc, I don't know how I missed this one, and a good one it is.

#4....Gangster Of Love....The Talking Heads....My guess would be murder (it mentions the Valentines Day Massacre.)

#9...Fire On The Cross....Bruce Hornsby......My guess again would be hate crimes/racism.

Okay, your not buying murder for "Gangster of love," Then how about Organized Crime?

I would also assume the crime in "I Shot The Sheriff" would be Murder.

I've been mulling over the lyrics for "I Shot The Sheriff.'' The only other crime I can
think of would be another case of Racism/ Hate Crimes. The Sheriff being the guilty
party.

Okay, this song is starting to bug me now. I know these lyrics and thought I knew what it was
about . Apparently it is more sinister than I thought. My last shot at it, no pun intended.

The Sheriff hates our main character. He constantly harasses him, tell him to kill the seeds before they grow,
this could be drugs or ideas, but let's consentrate on the Sheriff. Could it be that he killed the Deputy in order
to frame our hero thereby justifying him going after Marley's character only to be shot himself. Unfortunately,
I don't the name of the crime for framing someone but that damned Sheriff is guilty of something.
