I'm not too sure how this works ... not having played one of yours for awhile ?

Are you saying .... we can only submit TWO guesses ... to any of these questions ... and WAIT to see if they're right ... or make a bunch of guesses .. you'll say yes/ no ... and if we happen to get MORE than two .. you won't say if right or wrong ?

Well, I guess it's academic, really ... coz I DON'T feel like I'm going to do much in THIS one ... those are TOUGH ... and INTERESTING posers, my friend !

I'll take a stab at Elvis Presley, for No. 20

Air Supply for No. 19

At the risk of incurring your wrath .. I'll submit another ... 'Phil Collins' for No. 11 .... but I'm STILL thinking who else might be there ... maybe Bob Geldof ?

These are ALL guesses, no confidence / no research.

You get .5 points because you got Bob Geldof for #11.  There is one other for #11
Your other guesses are wrong :P

#12 Andy Summers and Freddie Mercury

Both Andy and Freddie are from the UK, so this is incorrect :P

These are incorrect as well.  This quiz might be harder than I thought, but you never know.  All it takes is the right guess :)

Could this be "Go West" (by the Pet Shop Boys)...? ???

04 | The song 'Chariots of Fire' was the biggest hit for Vangelis in both the US and the UK.  What was his biggest hit in Canada?

If I'm not mistaken, he had a #1 hit in Canada with "The Friends of Mr Cairo" (w/ Jon Anderson).

Guess that's all for now.

He DID say .... 'North America'. When people do that ... it's usually for a good reason. To YOU ... 'North America' may be the USA .... but to the REST of us ... it includes Canada ... and Mexico !    :P    ;D

I would be guessing it's NOT 'Careless whisper'  ..... and that this particular hit ... he has CANADA (eh ? ) ... in mind !    ;D

Canada is probably more receptive to the rest of the world ... than the USA .... (?) ... so ... he could score with an EARLIER hit ...than 'Careless whisper' there ... that's my thinking.

I'm guessing, since he said North America, he meant it was a hit in the US and in Canada...otherwise he would've just said Canada.  And by my casual use of here.... I think that encompasses all of North America... otherwise I might have just said the US as well.

I think Freedom was some years after 'Careless Whisper' .. which I'm reasonably sure DID do well in the States ... so .. if not a 'trick question' ... it's gotta be something else ... from 1984, or earlier, I reckon.

Both of these are correct.  'A Different Corner' appears on a Wham! album, but as a single, it was credited as George's debut solo hit in North America

Some right corkers here, Jason!  :D

#2. I'll hazard a guess with George Burns...

#3. A single solitary one! Their very first British hit, the wonderful 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men'...

Both of these are correct.  At the ripe old age of 84, George Burns reached #49 on the Billboard Charts in 1980 with the song 'I Wish I Was 18 Again'.  On a similar note, the song reached CAN #18, making Burns the oldest person to have a Top 40 hit in Canada

The oldest person to have a Top 40 hit in America was Moms Mabley, who at the age of 75 reached US #35 in 1969 with a cover of 'Abraham, Martin and John'.  In second place for both Canada and America was 74 year old Gordon Sinclair and his memorable 1974 hit 'The Americans'

I would have to guess that #14 is probably 'Please Don't Go'... :)

Is #8 'The Loco-motion'?  ???

Those are both correct :)
Many people assume it was 'Give it Up' in 1983, but that was released in North America as KC's first solo record

The Grand Funk version of The Loco-Motion never charted in the UK and Kylie's version only reached #3 in the USA. Those and Little Eva's original all reached #1 in Canada

My only guess about including Dan Akroyd would be his Blues Brothers schtick.  It was all that ever made sense to me.  It's not like they gave him a solo or anything, but when you see him in the video, you're like, one of these things just doesn't belong here...

a good guess but no :(

Good. :)

#9: Scooter (I forgot what song. They all sound alike lol. ;D)

#13: Tiga (with a cover of Corey Hart's "Sunglasses At Night")

#16: I would be surprised if it wasn't Mariah Carey.

You could always guess Scooter songs until you get the right one ;D

You got all these right :)

Can you clarify the wording of #5

How was he popular if he only had 2 Top 40 hits  :-\\

I probably should have worded that one better.  He had all kinds of hits in North America among other countries, but just two Top 40 solo hits in his native UK

How about 20. James Brown

17.  Johnny Mathis and Deneice Williams.  It was such an odd (but memorable duet).

Nope, but a good guess

This is correct.  In the first half of Season 1, it was two different singers, but throughout the rest of the show, it was Mathis and Williams.  Apparently show creator Gary David Goldberg was a fan of their 1978 smash 'Too Much, Too Little, Too Late'

I actually thought of him .... a couple of days back ... but more in connection with Traffic. Knew him for 'Valerie'; 'Higher love'  and 'While you see a chance'.  Because he had at least THREE UK hits .. and I misinterpreted your original clue ... to be he only had two top 40 hits ...... (which I misread as he only charted in the UK with two hits .. both of which were in the Top 40)  .... well, now that I've checked into it ... ONLY 'Valerie', and  'Higher Love' .... cracked the Top 40 there .... but he did have several  more minor placings there ... amongst which are the oft radio  played, previously mentioned 'While you see a chance' (#45)    .... AND ...  a US no. 1 ... which unbelievably ... only reached no.53 in his native UK  :o  :o ... that being 'Roll with it' .  Can ANYBODY explain how THAT kinda thing can happen  ...... to me ?  (*picks self up off floor* ) .

It is a mystery why Winwood didn't fully take off in the UK.  But just like Wang Chung and The Fixx, there are some British bands that find bigger success elsewhere than the UK :-\\

15 | In the UK, Wham!'s last studio album was a greatest hits package titled "The Final".  This album was edited and re-packaged in North America under what title?

I think it was something like 'The Edge Of Heaven' (as was the lead-off single)...

Close enough Sir.  'Music From the Edge of Heaven', a watered down version of 'The Final'.  It only contained album tracks and singles recorded after the 'Make it Big' album
