5/5 correct Vinny (and you managed some controversy down the page some... :-\\)  ;)

I would have accepted either version of the T Rex song title. As Karen advised it was Get It On over here and in the UK. Not certain why they changed it in the US... :-\\

My point is you should just let your answers stand (especially since with this one Frank answered after you).  Let gibbo do the scoring and then post other answers later.

two things.  I posted the correct title to a song that Womble had incorrect.  This he then deleted and put a different answer in and the Get It On song he changed his typed answer slightly (also based on my comment I believe)

I stated that I would have accepted either version of title for that song (I assumed it was the T.Rex song). So there might be another song in question?  As I said I can only go by what I read down the page. I like to think all was done in good faith and if an error of judgment was made ...then, again, I like to give any benefit of doubt.

Are you cool with this Karen?

I'm fine with it really.  I just don't 'get' why Womble edited his answers rather than letting them stand and then later posting a different answer.  Or making a post saying something like "Silly me I can see now that I got a title wrong.  So to get to the limit I'll answer another question."

As far as I know, they had to change the title in order to avoid confusion with another song of the same title that was out at the same time.
(Bill) Chase's "Get It On" peaked at #24 in 1971 in US.

I only have one answer for the quiz...

#35. Angie - Rolling Stones.

I really don't see anything wrong with changing or correcting answers until the Quizz Master sees it. After that the scores are then posted and the answers are set in stone. Anyway Karen, the way I look at it you also benefitted from the change I made. If I had not changed my Steve Miller answer I would have gotten only a 1/2 point for naming the correct artist because I answered first and you would have gotten only a 1/2 point too for correctly answering the song's title. The final result got you a full point. All is well in Fairs-ville.  :)

No...they sang about signs that said "no long haired freaky people allowed around here"  ;D  My lyric is from a single artist who remade an even better artist's song! He was hugely popular in the earlier half of the 70's...Think 'teeny-bopper' popular!

I gave up and had to cheat. Now I know the song  ;), not that popular here in Canada, but I have heard it a few times before. But if you are talking about the remake, yes, the guy was huge popular in Canada in the early 70s.

It was a nice quiz, Peter. Thanks for bringing it! :)

FYI: Looking down the list of songs, there's about 16 that I do not know at all (non-hits in Holland).

These are the only ones that made Dutch Top 40:

Devil Gate Drive - Suzi Quatro
January - Pilot
Brand New Key - Melanie
Bright Eyes - Art Garfunkel
If You Leave Me Now - Chicago
Rich Girl - Hall & Oates
Rikki Don't Lose That Number -  Steely Dan
More Than A feeling - Boston
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees
Boogie Wonderland - Earth, Wind and Fire
Living Next Door to Alice - Smokie
Bang a Gong (Get it on) - T. Rex
Summer Nights - John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John
Stuck In The Middle - Stealers Wheel
The Joker - Steve Miller Band
Oh, What A Night (December, 1963) - Four Seasons
Play that Funky Music - Wild Cherry
Fly Like An Eagle - Steve Miller Band
Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Angie - The Rolling Stones
Air That I Breathe - The Hollies
Laughter in the Rain - Neil Sedaka

Even I was surprised to see that some popular songs never made Top 40 (like "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover").
On the other side... there are songs in this list that I couldn't sing if my life depended on it (like "Devil Gate Drive" or "Brand New Key" - they just don't play those anymore).

I guess there's no way to tell what would be popular in Europe!  That is a pretty diverse set of songs ... :-\\

It was one of his single's apart from his Partridge Family songs. It was the flip side to Daydreamer ..... It was on the radio and I think it coincided with his tour here (in '74??).

Growing up, the girls I knew either liked David Cassidy, or Donny Osmond..or both.
