Subject: Another Lyrics Quiz (Double Theme) [Last Answer Given]

Written By: Henk on 02/08/10 at 1:36 pm

Here’s another lyrics quiz that I made for you. This one’s got 52 songs in it.
All songs fit one of two hidden themes (26 songs fit one theme, 26 songs fit the other theme).
The songs are listed in random order (in order to make things less easy/obvious for you…)
Can you name the songs? One point for each correct answer (title and artist)
And can you name a theme? Five points for a correct answer.
Note: you can only guess on ONE of the two themes!

Theme A is Songs With Titles That Don't Appear In The Lyrics karen]
Theme B is Songs That Open With The Title Frank]

Limit = OFF now!

As always: no cheating, please. Have fun!  :)

Wow, that was fast. The 5 points are all yours! :)

This also means that you can't guess on the other hidden theme.

I was thinking about #40 when I was in the car just now.  (I know the song but just can't recall the title)  And then I started thinking about the titles of the other ones wondering what the theme might be when it popped into my head

8. The Weight by the Band (I always thought it was fix your "rack")

31. For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield

48. Father and Son - Cat Stevens

49. If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot

And four for you, Gaylon.

You could be right about the lyrics for The Weight. It's hard to decipher. :-\\

17. Walking ‘round like you’re Pretty Boy Floyd
- Grandmaster Flash, The Message

19. I didn’t know what life was all about
- Bananarama, It Ain't What You Do (It's the way that you do it)

- Bob Dylan, Everybody Must Get Stoned (though I remember it as "riding in your car")

And absolutely no idea on the second theme.

I can give you full points for #17 and #19, but only half a point for #36. It's not titled "Everybody Must Get Stoned", although that's what most people tend to think. And yes, I missed a word while typing the lyrics. Silly me... :D

#19. I seem to remember that lyric in Better Get Used To It by Roger Voudouris

You could be right, Peter, but that wasn't the song I had in mind. In fact, I've never even heard of the song or the artist.

#25 Instant Karma - John Lennon
#40 Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

#43 Red Red Wine - Neil Diamond or UB40

#15) Simon Says - 1910 Fruitgum Company

Sorry, Vinny -  not the song I have in mind. :(

# 7 Are You Lonesome Tonight - Elvis Presley
#52 Shut Up - Madness
#37 The First Time ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack
#28 Somethings Got a Hold Of My Heart - Gene Pitney/ Marc Almond

All correct, Janine! :)

Once you said "Swedish" group, I guessed ABBA, then i went through a whole bunch of ABBA songs until I figured it out.

Man, I should have recognized that Abba song.  I actually know it best (sadly) through the Westlife version in '99.  ABBA is way better!

I'll wrap this one up then.

The only one none of you got was #29. The song is Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap.
I'm not terribly disappointed you didn't get that one.

I looked up the answer last week and was embarrassed that it was an Aussie band. I have heard of them...but couldn't name any of their songs. I probably would have heard it on the radio though...  I guess I just don't care much about modern bands anymore... :-\\
