Thanks maddog.  All correct and I actually meant to put a note in about possible hits spanning 1979/1980. I didn't have to worry about 1989/1990 as I can't recall any hits from that time. ;D

I also gave you the 9 70 5 title even though it may have been titled Morning Train (9 to 5). This became more relevant when I saw Cat's answers later on down the page.

Hi gibbo - belated happy Christmas to you and (ahem!) we'll draw a discreet veil over the cricket, shall we?  :-the limit is now 11 per person. 54 out of the hundred have been solved (for those mathematically challenged ... that's 46 remaining).  ;)

As for the cricket?  I'll be as discreet as I can.  :-\\

36 - bruce springsteen - hungry heart
37 - terri gibbs - somebody's knockin'
42 (substituted for #40 ;)) - steve winwood - while you see a chance

#35 was written by a Canadian named Eddie Schwartz.  Everytime I hear that song on the radio, they mention that.  It's almost like they feel it is the greatest Canadian written song perfomed by a non Canadian.  I love the song, but there are betters lol

Oh, and Terri Gibbs .. when I was growing up, I had no idea if she was a man or a woman (apparently lots of others did as well).  When I learned the truth, I was actually surprised.  I kind of liked not knowing lol

All correct.  Good pick up with my little mix up (hopefully fixed now). I said at the start I would probably mess things up!  ;D  Too many songs ... not enough computer skills.  ;)

I totally get what you said about Terri Gibbs gender.  But it's also good to know the greatest Canadian song ever written and performed by a non Canadian! ;D

Those are all correct. Grover Washington Jr had the hit in 1981 (with the song written by Bill Withers and recorded later by Withers ).
Withers did sing the lead vocal for this hit ... yet it is was still credited to Washington.
