Subject: The Musical License Plates Quiz [COMPLETE]

Written By: whistledog on 02/05/14 at 10:32 am

Using numbers, letters, elements, roman numerals and abbreviations, it is common for people to have personalized license plates on their cars.  So common, that in the 80s, there was a popular game show based on it called Bumper Stumpers.  In keeping with that theme, the following license plates are Top 40 hit 80s song titles.  I give you a clue, you tell me the song title and who performs it (some song titles may be common and have multiple artists, I just need 1).

LIMIT = 0

NOTE:  There are no half points awarded.  If you correctly guess the song title, but not the artist, then you only get 1 point.  If you guess both correctly, you get 2 points, but it still counts as 1 guess.  Your points will read in brackets next to your number of guesses

26. Blue eyes. - Elton John

These are correct!

1. Endless Love - Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross
8. Alright - Janet Jackson  ;D

I will give you #8 because it was on her 1989 Rhythm Nation album.  It technically was not a single until March of 1990 :P
You got 2 for 2 :)

Nice quiz. :) Hard to pick just two... :-\\

03. Little Lies - Fleetwood Mac
05. The Flame - Arcadia

2 for 2.  The Flame, though not a Top 40 hit in the UK, was one in Ireland and Holland.  Another answer I would have accepted would have been by Cheap Trick.

You got 2 for 2 Henk! :)

#20 is correct and the song title on #4 is correct, but the artist I was looking for is Benny Mardones.  Good try though :)

2 guesses, 3 out of 4 points

Thanks for accepting Janet as a viable answer since I def heard that song long before the single dropped

#16. 'In The Air Tonight' - Phil Collins

2 for 2.  The Americans were saved by Holiday Rap.  It wasn't a bad song, but it wasn't a great song.  It still gets my feet tapping.  If you play the 33 1/3 at 45 speed, in some parts, it sounds like Popeye lol

I'm clutching at straws with #25. and can really only come up with 'I Believe' - if it is, then there's been about a dozen songs with that title!

Let's see if I'm correct before I throw some artists at you...

Given there is just 2 left, I've lifted the limit, and I can correctly say that is the correct song title.  Here's an early hint for anyone that may assist:  Songs that include brackets are not the answer, because the brackets means there is more to the song title lol.  The song I had in mind reached #33 in the US, but there may be another one ...

Also, the one at #7, I am surprised no one has gotten it yet.  It was a popular song by a group whose name can also possibly describe what wheat farmers might be doing right now

#7 Did it in a minute - Hall & Oates
#25 I believe - Chilliwack.

If you'd lifted the limit earlier, I could've (and would've) answered #7 earlier. :P

#25 I believe - Chilliwack.

Chilliwack? Never would've gotten that one. Not a hit in the Netherlands. There were two other songs with the same title that DID make Top 40, though: one by EMF and one by Bon Jovi.

I thought for sure someone was going to guess I Believe (A Soulful Re-Recording) by Tears for Fears, as the album version is without brackets lol
