As I'm sure you know, Fuss, most rock bands record a power ballad or two during their career because they know it will sell.  This was a perfect example, having topped the U.S. charts for several weeks.  Another good example is also on this list...Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You".  I noticed you gave that one a pretty high mark!  ;)
