Truth be told, I was getting a bit worried when I saw no Gerry Rafferty songs posted in part 1...heh!

Onward...

1. Disco Inferno - Trammps 4 - fabulous dancefloor belter gaining a new lease of life after 'Saturday Night Fever'...

2. I'm Every Woman - Chaka Khan 4 - about the best she achieved, solo-wise...

3. Grease - Frankie Valli 3 - okay for what it is...though I've never been particulary struck by it...

4. It's A Heartache - Bonnie Tyler 2 - plodding effort from the raspy-voiced one...

5. Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton 2 - well-performed, but not a favourite of mine, probably due to extensive overplay...

6. Just What I Needed - Cars 3 - fairly average for them...they did achieve better...

8. What's Your Name - Lynyrd Skynyrd 4 - good song, but doesn't come close to 'Alabama'...

9. Jack & Jill - Raydio 3 - okay radio-friendly number...does tend to grind after a while...

10. The Groove Line - Heatwave 3 - likeable piece of dance-fluff...doesn't come close to 'Boogie Nights'...

11. September - Earth Wind & Fire 4 - fine song...

13. Reminiscing - Little River Band 5 - fabulous! Lovely, gentle effort which was one of their best...

14. Baby Come Back - Player 4 - another gentle and memorable number whose intro always sounds like another song...but can't think of which...!

15. Imaginary Lover - Atlanta Rhythm Section 3 - doesn't quite set the world alight...but nice nevertheless...

16. Back In The USA - Linda Ronstadt 2 - can someone have a word with this woman...? (No, not you, CF!!!)

18. Strange Way - Firefall 4 - another one I haven't heard in ages! Good song...

19. Follow You Follow Me - Genesis 4 - shouldn't really like it as much as I do...it's been played to death! But, can't deny it's a fine song...

20. You Belong To Me - Carly Simon 3 - mellow number with that unmistakable voice...but not her best by a mile...

Oh...here he is...!

21. Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
22. Right Down The Line - Gerry Rafferty Okay...you've all heard 'Baker Street' a million times I'll bet...I know I have... but there's something about it which just keeps it on this side of wonderful...same goes for 'Right Down The Line' in a similar sort of way...both extremely well-crafted and performed songs...both 5...

23. Time Passages - Al Stewart 4 - not heard as much (and not as good) as 'Cat', but marvellous all the same...full credit to CF for prompting me to go back and listen to this when she used it on a quiz recently...!

24. Summer Nights - Trav & Livvy
25. You're The One That I Want - Trav & Livvy Again, they've both been rammed down your earholes for the best part of a quarter of a century...but they're undeniably both classics, and will be destined to remain so...so there!...both 5...

She wouldn't dare! That's Linda Ronstadt's job...!

Seriously Billy, no it isn't...Carly co-wrote it with Michael McDonald...

The version by the Duprees was a cover...and a fine one it was too...!

Oh Paul, you know I would NEVER leave Gerry Rafferty out!  ;D

Actually, the real reason that you didn't see him on my first 1978 list is because he was not on the compilation that I took these songs from.  I couldn't find any of his songs on compilations!  >:(

Quoting:14. Baby Come Back - Player 4 - another gentle and memorable number whose intro always sounds like another song...but can't think of which...!End Quote

Would that be "She's Gone", by Hall & Oates?  I always thought the intro to the two songs sounded very similar.
