Now Billy !  You have been a silly-Billy  ;D

Here are my ratings for those which I know !  :D

Here comes the night-Them  4 - One of Them's best efforts (that was very good grammar wasn't it)  :D

(We aint got) nothing yet-Blues Magoos  4.5 - Ha !  Why do i keep reading on this board that this is a rare song ?  I thought everybody knew it !  ;D

One after 909-Beatles  4 - Released on "Let It Be" - but written in the early 60's - good early rocker

King Midas in reverse-the Hollies  4 - Not rare if you have any Hollies Greatest Hits record (sorry Billy, CD !  ;D)

It's my life-the Animals  4.5 - Another goddie, but rare ?

Surfer bird-the Trashmen  3 - Well, the best I can say about this song is that I know it....

Mendocino-Sir Douglas Quintet  4.5 - and i know someone who will probably give this a 5 when she sees it !  :D

Season of the Witch-Vanilla Fudge  4 - I only know the Donovan version, so my score is for his version

Intruiging list Billy  :)

Oh my good gawd! More obscurites...! Should do a bit better on this...but not by much...!

Here Comes The Night - Them 4 - good version of the Bert Berns tune by Van & Co...however, I would steer clear of Lulu's version from around the same time...

Smokey Places - Corsairs 5 - great piece of doo-wop...

Talk Talk - Music Machine 4 - good garage belter...

(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet - Blues Magoos 4 - comments can be found on hannahbear's posting...

Hungry - Paul Revere & The Raiders 4 - despite the outfits(!), this lot were a dam' fine outfit (pun intended)...this, though not their best, was a good example of what they could do when on form...

One After 909 - Beatles 2 - turgid song which meanders along looking in vain for a hookline...over here, this was seriously (at one point) going to be the follow-up single to 'Please Please Me', but they (wisely) chose 'From Me To You' instead...

King Midas In Reverse - Hollies 5 - Graham Nash's 'masterwork'...fabulous swirling piece of pop-psych, which left the public scratching their heads...

House Of Cards - Wink Martindale 2 - or, possibly 'Deck Of Cards'...completely corny narrative about the soldier using the deck as a Bible, etc...a bit heavy-going after one listen! It's also a con...when you count the spots on a deck of cards, it's got to be divisible by four...so there can't be 365! (I really must get out more...!)

It's My Life - Animals 4 - big hit here...rousing shoutalong number with Eric on top form...

I Want To Walk You Home - Fats Domino 4 - simple, lazy, laid-back rumbler from the 'Fat Man'...not his best, but still a fine performance...

Surfin' Bird - Trashmen 5 - two minutes of sheer, goofy, lo-fi class - knocked me out totally when I first heard it...

Just Dropped In - Kenny Rogers & First Edition 4 - Kenny as psych-star?...there's a novelty! Don't be fooled, folks...it's a great number...!

Keep On Dancing - Gentrys 4 - another lo-fi classic, complete with false ending, which probably screwed some DJs up...!

Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody 3 - passable version, but Johnny Bond's version is much better...very wordy song which must be awfully difficult to sing...

Well, Billy - not quite all...there's a few there that I should and do know by sight, but (shamefully) haven't heard in ages...I'll try and put that right sometime...

Very clever list embracing a lot of genres...well done...!

The Card Cheat-the Clash  5
Lovers Rock-the Clash 5

I agree Billy, pretty much everything on London Calling gets a 5 from me too, apart from Guns Of Brixton which I think was the first and only time they let Paul Simonon take lead vocals. I love Train in Vain too.

Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen 4.5
this is the one on the soundtrack to "Full Metal Jacket", am I right? during the part where they're in Vietnam and the army media unit comes to film them? I love this film...the soundtrack's great too.
