1. One Bad Apple - Osmonds 4, a little bit more 'funky' than their normal bill of fare...probably why it stiffed completely here...!

2. Knock Three Times - Dawn (featuring Tony Orlando) 4, heh! Memories! Ye olde 'party' fave accompanied by silly dance routine by my Aunt Ethel...! Joyful little piece...

3. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher 4, hm...my previous trio of girlfriends! Fine song and performance...

4. Indian Reservation - Paul Revere & The Raiders 3, performance okay, but a weak-ish song...

5. Treat Her Like A Lady - Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose 3, pretty good (but not outstanding) mix of pop-funk...

6. Black Magic Woman - Santana 4, good rendition - but I still prefer the Mac's original...

7. Draggin' The Line - Tommy James 3, not his best...

8. Theme From 'Shaft' - Isaa Hayes 5, top-drawer stuff...great arrangement and fantastic use of 'wakka-wakka' guitar...

9. Mr Big Stuff - Jean Knight 5, superb funky shuffler...

10. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - Joan Baez 4, some would say the Band's version remains definitive...but this comes close...

11. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey - Paul & Linda McCartney 4, curious piece of work from Macca and wife, but oddly compelling...never gained a release here...

12. Me And You And A Dog Named Boo - Lobo 4, a bit twee in places, but a very good song...

13. Imagine - John Lennon 3, starts off okay, but the 'subtle' drums spoil it...strangely, we had to wait another four years before this was released as a single...

14. Beginnings - Chicago 4, good song from inventive (at the time) group...

15. An Old-Fashioned Love Song - Three Dog Night 4, wonderful song...

16. Don't Pull Your Love - Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds 5, superb! An all-time fave of mine...unbelievably stiffed here...

17. Signs - Five Man Electrical Band 4, another fine song, and another UK non-runner...!

18. Baby I'm-A Want You - Bread 4, not their best, but not far from it...lovely...

19. I Am...I Said - Neil Diamond 4, powerful song and an effortlessly marvellous performance...

20. Mr Bojangles - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band 4, possibly the definitive version of a much-recorded number...

Much enjoyable, CF...

(Gently prises CF's fingers away from his throat and squeaks...)

No, no, no...how can I not be keen on one of the leading songwriters of all time? As I've (sort-of) said, it's not the song...just that rhythm track (bass as well as the drums) - it would've been so much better if John & Phil Spector had 'buried' them in the mix...but there you are...

Anyway CF, you'd better not even look at what Florio Senior thinks of it...!

When I graduated from 8th grade, our class song was R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly."  ::)

Most of the songs sung at my high school's commencement ceremonies were schmaltzy and dumb, but one year we sang "Let it Be" and I think when I graduated we sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water," which was pretty cool.
