Hm...bit of a curate's egg, this one...but some good stuff tucked away here and there...

1. The Joker - Steve Miller Band 4, cool song - which incredibly took another 16 years to chart here (on the back of a jeans ad campaign)...

2. Nothing From Nothing - Billy Preston 2, weak - compared to what he was capable of doing...

3. Dancing Machine - Jackson Five 2, a little less polished than their previous efforts, but another weak song...

4. Boogie Down - Eddie Kendricks 2, and this meanders along with no real direction...a pale re-hash of 'Trucking'...

5. Come And Get Your Love - Redbone 4, good piece of commercial pop-rock...re-cycled by Cyndi Lauper as the hookline of her re-make of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' in '94...

6. The Way We Were - Barbra Streisand 4, Ah! The fine ol' diva classic...great performance by Barb...

7. My Melody Of Love - Bobby Vinton 2, did make some fine records in the '60's, but this was a weak comeback...over here, the song (with different words) was known as 'Don't Stay Away Too Long' (a biggie for Peters & Lee...which doesn't matter - it's still weak)...

8. Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield 5, superb opening theme (though the entire LP's a bit heavy-going)...used to great effect in The Exorcist...

9. Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot 5, another fantastic song and performance from Gord...

10. Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim 4, good piece of pop-froth - very catchy...

11. You Make Me Feel Brand New - Stylistics 4, beautiful lush 'sweet' soul...one of their best...

12. Sunshine On My Shoulders - John Denver 3, pleasant enough, but nothing too special...

13. Cat's In The Cradle - Harry Chapin 5, no faulting this...superbly written and performed with tons of pathos to boot...!

14. Mockingbird - Carly Simon & James Taylor 2, competently done, but lacklustre...Inez & Charlie Foxx's original is miles better...

15. I Honestly Love You - Olivia Newton-John 5, reasonable song, but Livvy's handling of it does it justice (with a bit of a snivel thrown in for good measure...!)

16. Tin Man - America 3, nice...but that's about all...

17. Longfellow Serenade - Neil Diamond 3, same here...not one of Neil's better efforts...

18. I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song - Jim Croce 3, and same again here...didn't really suit him this song...

19. Tell Me Something Good - Rufus (featuring Chaka Khan) 4, sly and prowling Stevie Wonder song attacked well by a very good group (and vocalist)...

20. (I've Been) Searchin' So Long - Chicago 3, nice, languid effort...sadly, lost their 'edge' a bit around this time...

Really?  That's odd because I thought just the opposite.  I felt that song was perfect for him!
