Terrell Owens. A whiner and a spoiled brat crybaby. I can't believe I supported TO coming to the Eagles last season.

I agree with you.  He is scum for cheating on his wife and possibly bringing home diseases, but he wasn't found guilty.  Her story didn't add up.  I think the part that stopped me from believing her was that she had DNA in her underwear from another guy she had been with previously, like days previously.  Her story didn't add up.

And where in the world do you conclude that Lance is arrogant and cocky? Does the fact that he's totally dominated his sport automatically make him arrogant? I'm assuming that like me, you've only been presented with Lance in Tv interviews, and newspaper articles. And in every instance, Lance has been nothing but an inspiration to others, and a class act who does nothing but bring positive attention to his sport, and his fellow athletes.

The Steroid trails have tarnished the game for years to come. Big Mac in my opinion was one of the best hitters to Grace Busch Stadium.. when i was a kind i thought he was THE MAN!! Personally, I think he exagerated the numbers greatly.  But, even if he "did it" with 1% of the women it is insane and scary.  I doubt he thought of all the women and infections.  It wasn't quite so rampant back then.

I DO admire Lance Armstrong about going public with his fight against cancer.

I honestly think with the big money in sports and the TV deals for sports like the NFL and NASCAR, people are putting HUMONGOUS pressure on sports stars to act like choirboys. I can see the stuff about steroids and drug/alcohol abuse issues as well as crimes committed by sports figures...but the burden on these people to be 'perfect' is tremendous...a great example is Dale Earnhardt Jr using a cuss word at Talladega last year..he should have not lost points, the word could have been bleeped out had they used 'tape delay' of about five seconds...Sanitizing sports TOO MUCH is just going overboard and taking the humanity out of it all.

Most agreeable, the large majority of NASCAR drivers are very honorable people.  Although Jeff Gordon is a crybaby, he's still a good guy at heart.  No kidding that NASCAR driver's give back to the fans, they truly truly do. But I think it's because they come from hardnosed families and they're just good ole boys that like to drive fast in a car and race people. They don't see themselves as premadonna's as other professional athlete's seem to sometimes. (Ok maybe Gordon does).  I think the stuff that Stewart does is absoultely amazing. I also think that what the Petty Family does towards causes of the same thing is absolutely amazing as well.

Love for the sport in my opinion, even if the guy isn't # 1 all the time, will get my cheers any day of the week, over Love for the $$, even if the guy does happen to be # 1 all the time.

Uh, Kasey Kahne has wrecked alot of his own race cars this year all by himself and with no help from anybody else.

As far as Sprewell is concerned I like the energy he can bring to any team that he plays for but his situation with his contract was not a good thing last NBA season.

Yeah Sprewell I forgot when he came back to Madison Square Garden as a member of the Minnesota Timberwovles and he was gesturing in a bad way toward Kinicks owner Jim Dolan. That wasn't a good thing. Dolan was sitting courtside for that particular regular season game.

No coach ever solved Lawrence Phillips

Alas, Lawrence Phillips. What this time?
Once, he could have won the Heisman Trophy and been an NFL star. On Sunday, adding to Page 2 or 3 or 4 of his police blotter, he was charged in Los Angeles for allegedly putting the foot to the floor of a stolen Honda and trying to run down a gaggle of fleeing teenagers in a park.

Lawrence Phillips. Who bad-acted his way off the St. Louis Rams, the Miami Dolphins, the San Francisco 49ers, and out of the CFL.

Who, according to published reports, last year hawked one of his Nebraska conference championship rings for $20 at a Las Vegas pawn shop.

Who apparently got in trouble Sunday when he grew enraged at some kids after joining their football game, even while San Diego police were looking for him on an assault charge, which includes allegedly choking his girlfriend into unconsciousness. A 30-year-old, who grew up in a youth home, still trapped in angry adolescence.

Once, his college coach famously gave him a second chance, and will forever be tainted for it. And you wonder now how many other coaches, facing the dilemma of what to do with a wayward athlete, pause a moment, and think of Lawrence Phillips. At least, they should.

The numbers are still there in the Nebraska record book, impervious to felony. They remind the world that on Jan. 2, 1996, Lawrence Phillips rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns as the Cornhuskers crushed Florida 62-24 in the Fiesta Bowl to repeat as national champions.

That Phillips was even playing had created a firestorm. Earlier in the season, he was put on probation for assaulting his girlfriend. To wit: dragging her downstairs by her hair, bashing her head against a mailbox. After a suspension — he had rushed for 359 yards and seven touchdowns in the first two games of the season — Huskers coach Tom Osborne reinstated Phillips in late October, and there he was in the backfield that January night in Tempe.

Osborne defending his actions by saying anybody deserved another chance.

"Some people feel like we didn't do anything to him," Osborne said at the time in an Associated Press story. "But I imagine by suspending him, I took several million dollars away from Lawrence Phillips. He's paid a price."

It had the strong whiff of cutting corners on principle, to be ready for the big game. A mixed-message fiasco. To the cynics, the title came with an asterisk. The charitable would say Osborne sought to help save a troubled soul. But help is something Phillips never knew how to use.

The Rams drafted Phillips in the first round but soon had to get rid of him. The long decline followed, from city to city, third chance to fourth chance to fifth chance, blowup to blowup, several involving women.

He seems more pathetic now than malicious. At 30, many gifted running backs are still chasing Super Bowls. Lawrence Phillips, on the lam, is playing pickup football with teenagers in a park. And then melting down again.

"I'm definitely not going to let that mistake happen again," Phillips said.

That was to the media at the Fiesta Bowl. A decade ago.

Osborne is a three-term U.S. congressman from Nebraska, a Republican running for governor. His football record was remarkable. But he will forever have Phillips pinned to his legacy. Phillips' reinstatement was, as many suspected then and know now, a horrendous mistake.

Yet it is impossible to say that a hard-line Osborne might have prevented what followed. Sport claims to build character, but does not always show a great record at it. Some fights are unwinnable. What is certain is that Tom Osborne, and every other coach who followed, never had an answer for Lawrence Phillips.

Number 1 enemy is Christiano Ronaldo - he just has that smug little face that I kinda feel like punching! I liked it when he cried after Greece won Euro 2004 :D  I sound a little sadistic but hey :P I didn't just want them to win to see him lose, I was extra happy as my family are Greek!

I also dislike David James - he is such an awful goal keeper, I don't know why Sven insisted on having him play for England all the time!

I know what you mean about going into B'ham. It never used to be like that though until they got into the Premiership I don't think...but hey, what can I really say as Villa haven't done good in so long.

I have to say I'm not a big big fan and don't follow them obsessively - infact I could honestly saw I've watched more Boro games this year than Villa, as my boyfriend supports Middlesborogh! Even at Villa v Boro games, I often don't really mind if they lose, cause at least it'll make him happy!! But secretly, I'd prefer them to win :P
