Paul Pierce of the Celtics hosted 100 single moms and their children at the Marriott Hotel in Boston todayf
for Thanksgiving.  He was raised by a single mom, she was there too.  Everyone got a ticket to a Celtics
game.(those tickets go for about 100 a piece.  Good on him

But anyway, yeah, it shows they're not all overpaid prima donnas. Paul Pierce sure is a good guy who appreciates his fans.

The Colts' Peyton Manning is a class act. His PeyBack foundation helps disadvantaged kids get a hand up in life.

And the Eagles' Tra Thomas is a founding member of Athletes United for Christ.

I know it's off topic but NASCAR has drivers and teams that give their TIME as well as their money to good causes. Many drivers are involved in the Victory Junction Gang Camp for sick children...and my fave Tony Stewart does a lot of appearances and donates his time and money to good causes, he even has the Tony Stewart Foundation to help sick kids and also injured race drivers and their families.  8)

MOST of them are average, decent people.  You just don't get credit for going to the field/court doing your job and going home.  You have to be either a saint or a thug to get in the news.  >:(

The media shouts long and loud about the thugs, makes them all look bad.

Sports stars are only human. Yes sometimes they mess up.....but look at how many people like those superstars...If a sports star does something truly UGLY, the fans reject them...boo them...

And some of the 'hated' actually make changes for the better. The man in my screen name has mellowed a lot. Why? He made changes like moving back to the childhood home he bought, so he can have downtime away from the pressures of being a Nextel Cup champion.

Hey, even Allan Iverson has mellowed out some. He went along with the NBA's new dress code. And A.I. is known for wearing major BLING when he's not suited up!
