That doesn't mean these athletes can't turn it around (other than Kwan, who withdrew Sunday)

Kwan. I suspected Miller would choke if forced to ski sober

I would have added Hannah Kearney...that is if anybody really cared about women's moguls. (Good luck in the NFL, Jeremy Bloom ::)).

As we used to say in Indiana...

Bode Miller's mouth wrote a check that his azz couldn't cover.

That a good number  of Americans still aren't modest enough to admit when someone is plain better than they are.

Why is the Mens Hockey Team on there?  Didn't they just start the mens tourney?

I'm disappointed that Michele Kwan wasn't able to go out and skate.  I think she is magnificent, and this was probably her
last chance to grab the gold.

Aha !  A certain ice skater that stormed off from the presentation area, when I was watching tonight, springs to mind.  Motto "Hype alone will not win you the gold"  ;)

Good point, but the men blew a 2-0 lead against a team they should have blown out,  and lost to Latvia 3-2. I don't think they'll do much better. :(

Maybe I should have specified The U.S. women's curling team. >:( (at myself)

I thought Johnny Weir had a good cahnce for a medal, but i guess that's the beauty of the new points system--skaters can score higher by adding more stuff, and having a cululative total means no more faulty placings.Emmanuel Sandu ,if he had skated clean, could have medaled,or so says Plushenko.I had been rooting for Michael Weiss to make the U.S. team, but the guys who won were really good.

For me, there's only one athlete that qualifies: Nicolien Sauerbreij (snowboard, parallel giant slalom).

I don't know if you know the full story, so here it is.
In 2002, Nicolien was considered one of favourites to win a medal. She had had a good season so far. But she failed to pass the qualification round, because she had her board waxed by some Austrian bloke (considered to be "the" waxing specialist) instead of waxing it herself (which she normally did and does). Exit Sauerbreij.

So everyone was expecting her to take revenge this Olympics. And she did manage to pass the qualification round this time.
In the first run of the second round, her German opponent took a stumble and fell, thus providing Sauerbreij a 1.5 second lead for the second run. Things couldn't look any better, 'cause 1.5 seconds is an awful lot in sports like skiing and snowboarding.
So Sauerbreij was allowed a headstart, with the German starting 1.5 seconds later.

Guess what...? Sauerbreij came in second, trailing by 0.03 seconds.

I cannot describe the disbelieve I felt when she managed to blow this advantage. Exit Sauerbreij, and once again she managed to make a complete fool of herself.

There's only one thing left for her to do now, and that is to win a gold medal in Vancouver 2010.

Bode Miller -

I followed him in the 2002 games, and was excited for him this time around. Then to see how arrogant he was and to see him lose one by one, it just was a huge disappointment.

On the other hand, I was disappointed about Kwan because everyone was holding their breath to see if she'd grasp the gold at last, but now I am glad Emily Hughes gets a chance. She's really adorable and I think she skated just as equally as Sasha Cohen, especially for being a first timer.
