Sensational scenes at the 8th hole. Tiger Woods gives his nine iron to caddie Steve Williams to wash, but the caddie drops it in the pond. Woods is not allowed to replace it, but suffers no immediate ill effects as he birdies the 9th to go 2 up.

Tiger Woods' caddie Steve Williams slips while washing his nine iron at the eighth, and the club disappears with a ripple.

I watched Montgomerie, what a good show he put on.  A sportswriter here made a good point when he mentioned that most of the American players foolishly stick to American links, the glaring exception being Tiger Woods who plays in different countries, and it shows in his game and in his standings when placed beside his team mates.
