Subject: Red Auerbach- RIP

Written By: danootaandme on 10/29/06 at 6:48 am

Red Auerbach, legendary coach and general manager of the Boston Celtics has died.  He led the team to nine titles as a coach in the 1950s and 1960s - including eight straight from 1959 through 1966 - and then he built the teams that won seven more championships in the 1970s and 1980s.

Rest in peace, Red. This man was known as the greatest coach who ever lived. He first joined the Celtics in 1950 as head coach, and remained with the team until his passing.

The Celtics are dedicating this season to his memory. I just hope we can have a great year in his honor.

Goodbye, Red. You will be missed.
