I don;t get why some people are picking the Heat to beat the Hawks. The Heat have D-Wade and thats it. Is D-Wade the best player of out the Heats and Hawks roster? Yes but the Hawks have a better overall team than the Heat. Remember the Hawks gave the Celtics all they could handle in last years playoffs. :)

^ The Heat got pwn3d today.  But Dwyane Wade wins games singlehandedly so it can still happen.

I like the Heat over the Hawks for a simple reason.  The Hawks are a running team and everybody knows that you need a good half court offense to win in the playoffs.  The Hawks tend to get into the one on one battles more than the team concept.  True there is a lot of D. Wade going one on one.  There also is a lot of sharing the ball with O'Neal, Beasley, and Chalmers.  Like the old saying says..."The Hawks look better than the Heat on paper."

We will know the answer today to the Hawks or Cavs. Tomorrow the Lakers continue their quest against the Houston Rockets.  Last night the Celtics showed their chamionship heart and moved on.

The problem is that the Heat is basically Dwyane Wade and 11 stiffs.

I agree and the games when the Heat look good it is because one of the stiffs have decided to move and not simply watch D. Wade.

Remember when Jermaine O'Neal was an All-Star? Where did that guy go?

He got a big contract and then decided he didn't have to work hard anymore.  That is the problem with guaranteed contracts :P

I can't believe The Magic beat the Celtics again!  8) :)

Also:  Chuck Daly died this morning.  He coached the Magic for the 96-97 and 98-99 seasons while I worked there. Obviously, he's best known as a Hall Of Fame coach and coach of the Pistons during their 83-92 seasons and The Olympic Dream team.  He's also in the list of the Top 10 Greatest coaches.

Celtics got lucky. They won by 1 point at the buzzer. Oh well, maybe we can get  'em back on Tuesday. It was still a good game for the most part-and a heck of a last quarter!!

They are missing both Yao Ming & Mcgrady. I did not watch the game, but how did the Lakers lose?
I think it's still building up to a Cavs/Lakers final. Kobe Versus Lebron. The TV ratings will be high if that happens.

I think the Lakers thought they had it made against Rockets without Yao, and the Rockets said they could make it without Yao and McGrady, so it was a sneak attack... ;)
Reverse Reverse Psychology... ;D  I gotta hand it to Phil.  (I've loved him as a coach through the Bulls and the Lakers.... I tried to become a Lakers fan for him but just couldn't put up with the Shaq vs Kobe drama and ran screaming back to the Magic...) He gave credit where credit was due and admitted the Rockets played a hell of a game (not those exact words... ;))

So far so good!  The Magic beat the Cavs in their house in game 1 !!!!!!!  Surprise!!  Cavs were hot in the 1st half, then we were hot in the 2nd half.  Whatever it takes, guys!!

Rashard Lewis got the game winning shot and shocked LeBron so much he got a cramp in his leg....right at the end of the game...sore loser?  ??? Need some attention? But he even had to admit, Dwight was great, but "Lewis was the X-factor for them." He hated getting shown up at the end so much that he had to have all cameras on him for about 5 minutes at the end while the Magic were celebrating their win.  Yeah, it's only Game 1, but I said I think we'll get 2 wins. One down....... ;)

Well, I'm happy to say The Magic surpassed my expectations!  I was just hoping they'd win 2 before being sent packing. Glad I'm wrong!  And even if we don't win in Cleveland tomorrow night, we could possibly come home to Orlando and win our 4th and still send Cleveland packing! You gotta believe in Magic!

Both of these series have been more exciting than I expected.  I fully believed it would end up being LA and Cleveland.  I guess it still could, and yes, that's what the media is DYING for.  And yes, it WOULD be great to spoil that!  I think Howard could be a great role model for kids, King James is just too full of himself. (Taking Kobe lessons)

Do you see all the Vitamin Water ads?  They're of Kobe and LeBron only!  I'd love to see the makers of Vitamin Water have to change those commercials.  ;)

In the file of Thank Goodness:

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard is back to two technical fouls away from suspension territory.

The NBA announced Wednesday that it has rescinded Howard's sixth technical foul of the playoffs, which he was given for taunting Anderson Varejao after a layup in the fourth quarter of the Magic's 116-114 overtime victory Tuesday night. (he was NOT!) Cleveland's forward had draped his arms around Howard in a failed attempt to stop him from scoring.

Go Lakers tonight!!

And thank goodness they did. I had been watching during the 2nd and 3rd quarters and they were losing. Thankfully they came through during the fourth quarter. I'm glad they're not the ones facing elimination right now.

I had fun live blogging in LTE last night during the game!  For some reason, I wasn't upset when they lost last night. Home court advantage helps a ton, and tomorrow night, we'll see if it helps us.

I hope we can close it out tomorrow at home, it would be great for the city of Orlando, who rallied behind the team for years, then when Shaq left and caused so much tension, the city all but turned their back on the team.  It was really sad.  I hope the team can really prove their worth and gain back the trust they lost.

I think we're gonna be ok, but I seem to be jinxing my teams right now by believing? If I am, there's always next year.  :)

Sadly, very sadly, Lakers win tonight. I don't; mind the Lakers winning, but Kobe's on the Lakers, so that's bad news, bad, bad news.
Kobe's ego will grow more, now it's about the size of Jupiter...too big...If he wins in the final, may God help us all. :D

personaly, I would do that in a sports-related thread. I saw the last part of that game on TV a little while ago and have to give a big congratz to your team.

I am glad that my team won last night; the fourth qtr was lotsa fun to watch, especially with the Lakers maintaining a double-digit lead throughout. 8)

"Funniest moment of the game: Kobe storms back to the bench, whacks the chair in disgust and sits down as Phil Jackson (already sitting) looks at him with a bemused, "Should I point out to him that MJ absolutely would have passed there?" smile on his face. ^ You bet I will!  Not only that, there will be a Game 5, and I WILL be there!

My friend Christine that I worked with in Merchandising is now in Premier Season Ticket Sales and called me to join them in one of the owners' suites. I'd rather be on the floor like Smilin' Jack at the Lakers games, but I'm not going to complain.  :D

Matthew wants me to take him, and I want to, it would be a really cool thing for him to go to this young, but it's a Sunday night and I have to work the next day and he has camp. So I'm undecided.  If I leave straight from work Sunday at 3:30pm and drive straight over, I'll have plenty of time to catch up with friends and see some early warm ups.  If I drive home to get Matthew then drive to Orlando, that's like making a big triangle and going out of the way. The game doesn't start til 8 either, so it will be at least  1 am if I leave right after to get home. Then drag in the sleeping 70 pound child from the car... ???

Btw, I found out that Tiger Woods pays $45,000 a year for his floor seat whenever he's in town for a game. ( maybe 10 games a season, I hear) And he's there rooting for the Lakers this time around because they were his childhood favorites! But the rest of the year he roots for the Magic.  ::)

I am sad today as well!!  We had that game! We wuz robbed!  That's what the Lakers do, though, sometimes they come out low key in the first half, then they drink a lot of Red Bull during the halftime show, and then it's too late for their opponents to realize that they've been faked out and they are about to be killed in the last 10 minutes of the game. I've watched them do that for years....

So now Sunday, when I go, they could win #4 if we're not careful!  I do not want to drive to Orlando for a bunch of purple and gold confetti to fall on me! That would be the worst thing to happen....I am now nervous!  :o

I kinda noticed that late in the game. Early in the game, when the Orlando's had a double-digit point lead, I actually expected them to go ahead and win. Especially due to the Lakers' lack of defense early on. So I quit watching the game until the 4th quarter, when I saw the score tied.

OMG, Frank you would have just loved it-Kobe high fiving his teammates and saying "It's over" with a minute left.  Duh, Orlando sucked and lost but there is a thing called Sportsmanship....

Kobe is the smuggest, most arrogant a$$h@le on the planet...

I'm hanging out in the suite still, some of us are waiting for crowds to get out first, some are still just talking like they have nothing better to do.  I'm waiting to see one of my old bosses then I'm gone.

Seeing a few of the old timers was good, I saw Magic Johnson in his Magic shiny suit from across a hall before the game, he was talking to some woman that is not his wife...lol...we went back into the locker room and main offices like giggly schoolgirls just like we used to...It was fun having the run of the place like I did before.  I even got to say hi to Dennis the announcer and he remembered me!  It's been over a year since I've even seen him! Also saw my first manager ever in Merchandising-he hugged me and asked me when I'm coming back!  ???

Hopefully I'll get my pictures in my photobucket account before the weekend and try to post them.  I posted a pic from where we are right now for my avatar.  It will be tiny!  ;D

Maybe next year will be our year!!

"Night!

That's like saying Paris Hilton is a little spoiled.

But I have to give Kobe credit, he's the best out there.
As I've said before, too bad many of you will have to move out of America coz Kobe's ego is too big now and no room for you all.

I watched the entire 4th quarter of the game, after bits and pieces of the previous quarters. I was glad to see my team win.

I'm sorry, Jeffrey!  I forget there are cool Lakers fans...I'm happy for you and Phil, he's a class act, I can go that far, and I hope you can forgive my whining....but can I still dislike Kobe with the heat of a thousand suns?  ;)

Congrats Jeff, Yes, I like Phil Jackson (I am a big Jordan fan when he won 6 tittles with Chicago)

Anabel, A thousand suns is about the size of his ego.

Sure. We all have our own likes & dislikes. :)

Maybe your team will have another chance next year.

Yep, you gotta give Phil Jackson credit. After all, he has now won the most titles of any NBA coach. O0

And who's to say he won't win number 11 next year? It can happen

I wish Phil would coach the Magic. Laugh if you will, but the idea was batted around a few years ago....he's been my favorite coach since the early days with Da Bulls. I tried really hard to become a Lakers fan just for him, but I couldn't do it. Did you know he's not only won Championships just as a Coach?  He has 2 as a player, too! And of all these Championships, only one Coach of The Year honor....

Sorry Q, I love ya and we agree on a lot, but Kobe is an MJ wannabe, at least MJ was the read deal.  He could afford to be arrogant.  ;)

I suppose it's time to retire the Playoffs thread now, unless Big Nasty has anything to add...after all you had the winner!!  Are you around?

If it's not too presumptious, I'll start a regular NBA thread.  :)

Stupid lakers.  >:(

As if LA traffic isn't bad enough. They have to go and plan their stupid parade for today. Adding thousands of people on the road to already highly congested early morning rush hour traffic. Good thing I knew a back way or I'd still be sitting on the damn freeway. v

It's interesting, in a way, you and I both got to experience the NBA Finals in our own way, even living so far apart!  :)

I have been absent in my travels, however I do have something to add.... :P That is for all the Kobe and Laker haters out there...to include the Love of My Life...I said it all along, the Lakers were the better team. I said they would beat Cleveland,  but they didn;t get the chance. Instead the proved my point against the Magic. An old Basketball saying is "Live by the 3 and Die by the 3". Well R.I.P. to Orlando and there 3 point offense.  As for the Kobe haters, true Lebron deserved and one the Regular Season MVP, but Kobe won the one that really counts...the NBA Finals MVP. Kobe knows how to attack a team and more importantly he knows how to win.  True he is no Michael Jordan, but there is also not another Kobe Bryant either. I am not saying he is better than Michael, however at the same points in there career hw would have been. You know Michael won 6 titles, all with a memeber of the 50 Greatest players of all time, and Hall of Famer in Scottie Pippen. Yes Kobe had Shaq for his first 3, but what Hall of Famer do the Lakers have now other than Phil Jackson? As for Lebron, in the clutch he is not anywhere near the level of Kobe Bryant. Just look at all of his costly Turnovers in the final games of there series against Orlando. Kobe is a clutch player and once he smells weakness or a little blood...he is a cold blooded killer on the Basketball court.

Finally, that makes 15 for the franchise...watchout Boston the Lakers are just 2 away...maybe number 16 can come at the hands of the Celtics? Until next year, that is all for the NBA Playoffs.

Yes Orlando 3 point offense was no where to be found vs the Lakers. Still Orlando had shots to win Games 2 and 4 vs the Lakers and didn;t do it and it had nothing to with their lack of 3 point shooting though. Rashard Lewis didn;t come up big vs the Lakers like he did against Celeveland. Cleveland really had nobody to guard Lewis anyway I mean an injury riddled Ben Wallace or a good defender inside the paint like Anderson Verajo wasn;t gonna chase Lewis all over the 3 point line. However the Lakers do have/had guys that could chase Lewis around the 3 point line like Lamar Odom or Trevor Ariza.

I'm not blaming Rashard Lewis for Orlando's loss to the Lakers I'm just saying he didnt come up big like he did against Cleveland.

To Dwight Howard...You have to make free throws at the end of the game for your team to win(case in point Game 4 vs the Lakers.) Dwight for the first time you have shown me leadership. I think vs the Celtics when the Magic were down 3 games to 2 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals he started to be a leader on this team which I hadn't seen from him before.

Dwight needs to learn some low-post moves, too many crashing-into-body plays that get him into offensive fouls :P

I know most of Dwight's points come off of dunks or little shots 2 feet from the rim.

He needs to learn how to do Kareem's hook or something
