Im interested in the average inthe00s members opinion on the man.

What are your thoughts on David Stern now that he is retired?

No one has any opinion??

Im curious how he would have handled the 2020 "BLM" situation. Because what Adam Silver allowed hurt the league a lot. He Probably would have tried to stop it... Save the league the trouble.....

Kind of mixed. He became commissioner at a time when the league wasn't in the best of shape when players were known for using drugs that were illegal. Still he became commissioner when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were the stars of the league in 1984. The league rode the wave of Michael Jordan's popularity throughout the 1990's. The league was still able to hold on to tremendous popularity with the Lakers 3-peating from 2000-2002 with Shaq and Kobe. Allen Iverson of the Philadephia 76ers was a key but polarizing star of the league at this time too. The Sacramento Kings actually had a national following from about 2001-2004 and were nicknamed the "Greatest Show on Court" during this era. Than the league went into dark era from about 2003-2007. The Boston Celtics won a championship in 2008 against the Lakers. Lebron James became a huge star in his last 2 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers(08-09 and 09-10.) Kobe Bryant of the Lakers won the NBA MVP in the 2007-2008 season with Chris Paul of New Orleans being a runner-up to Kobe for the award. Kobe led the Lakers to championships in the 08-09 season against a Dwight Howard led Orlando Magic Team and getting revenge against the Celtics in 2010 for the 08 defeat. Lebron James going to the Miami Heat gave the league viewership that it hadn't seen since Michael Jordan 1990's era. I also do believe when Lebron came back to Cleveland for a second stint(2014/2015-2017/2018) seasons the league still had great viewership because of the Cavs rivalry with the Golden State Warriors(Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant.)

He retired way back in 2014; that's quite a while ago now. Furthermore, he eventually passed away on New Year's Day 2020. :\'(

Anyways, I remember him well. He accomplished quite a lot during his tenure as Commissioner.
