Subject: Obsessions with Celebs

Written By: CatwomanofV on 01/12/14 at 6:16 pm

I am a bit perplex as to why some people have obsessions with celebs. I'm not talking about having a crush. I'm sure everyone here knows that I have always had a crush on Bill Bixby. And yeah, I think I shed a tear or two when he died. But, I do not devote my life to him. In fact, I don't even think I have a pic of him in my house. Ok, I had his pic on my wall as a teen but I was a teen. Hadn't had pics of celebs on my wall since that time.

There are some people who lives their lives around the life of one celebrity. Others are obsessed to the point of stalking them. And others have to dress like them. There was this guy who lived in this area who was dressed like Elvis. Haven't seen him in many years but I used to see him in our local K-Mart.

I know there are a few people on this board who are obsessed with celebs (and you know who you are). I want to know why? Why are these people-many who you have never met, will NEVER meet, have such an important place in your life? I wonder if it is because your life is so lacking that you have to grab on to someone else's life?

I am not starting this thread to start any argument, accuse anyone of anything and I certainly do not mean to offend anyone but I just want to know why entertainers are so important in people's personal lives that they get offended if someone says anything negative about their celebrity(s) of choice.

Can someone please enlighten me?

I think with some people, it is an escape from reality.  I think the draw of the public image of the celebrity seems better than real life.  I know when I have a really bad day, I like to get lost in Youtube...helps to get away from the crap that can be real life.

I guess we have to look at it in stages...

the stalker (a true stalker - not my level of stalker) is a demented individual who believes they have some real connection to the celeb... the celeb looks into a camera and the person thinks they are looking at them they love them and if they cannot have them no one else can either... that's a true psychological issue that cannot really be explained and has no bearing (I hope here) I don't think anyone here has lost their minds to the point of stalking/slaughtering their beloved celeb.

blind devotion to a celebrity I also don't get.... again I am obessed with celebs (and I'll get to that in a minute) but I also separate appreciation from the craft with obsessing over the persona.  I LOVE Shemar Moore... people claim he's gay... I don't know if he is... I don't know if he isn't... I don't care.. it does not change my love for him.  If (and only because the discussion is happening elsewhere) if he was accused of a specific crime similar to say a gloved one had been accused of...it would break my damn heart.  I would feel horrible....for the kid in question... and if he were acquitted I would spend the rest of my life wondering if he'd been wronged or gotten away with it.... does that change my commitment to him now? no... he hasn't come under that scrutinity and as for the rumors I'm not going to defend his orientation- it's not my place to do so... honestly it's no one's business and does not make him any less hot... and I will say this now--- and it disgusts me to say it---- I don't know if I would look at him with any less lust in my eyes if those accusations came to be... I would hope that I would but he's so damn tasty i might say I hate what you did son but you're still hot :-[ but i wouldn't defend him tooth and nail.

Sometimes some people just label a star 'gay' or 'lesbian' because of jealousy.  ::)

as for my particular type of obsession... it's a discussion I often have with  my friends.  It may be a culture unique to LA (well except for the fact that my Canadian friend is equally obsessed)  It's like a drug. the endorphins and adrenaline kicks in and you just can't beat that rush...

why? I don't know why... it's different for many people...like why did you smoke or why does someone drink? It feels good to you... you derive pleasure from it, it helps you forget the things that drag you down in your day to day world, it's a chance to meet people doing a job you admire and it's escapist fantasy fulfilled at the highest plateau

For me? I grow up a sad and isolated kid... my dad was in the military and I moved a lot look at the blurb just below my user name and above my avatar...  "they might live inside your tv but they are still your friends"  that is the motto of my life... my location always changed... my tv shows did not... move to a school in the middle of the year and you have some challenges making friends... move to a school fulll of racist assholes as the only black kid and you find yourself isolated for 8 months... the only place I found comfort was in the characters on TV... I leaned on them to make me laugh, give me a different reason to cry, to drag me out of the real pain I felt (through various bad experiences I had) and give me something to dream about...some to live for...some place else to go  even if it was just for a few hours.....

the TV guide is my bible and the TV is the alter that enlightens me...  mock me if you will but that is where I have always found my solace and that is where I prefer to spend my time...

It's like being in a mosh pit... but a really cool mosh pit you never wanna leave...  I don't know what the equivalent would be for you Cat... it would be like if JK Rowling said hey Cat... i'm thinking about writing book 8 of harry potter and I really want to sit down with you and talk about the characters and see what you 've got in mind for them...  Basically it's mind blowing....  that's an autograph fan event.... that's minimal access... that's like the poor man's (even tho paley fest is expensive) it's the poor man's celeb fix.  it's like speed dating... you have a few seconds to let the person you admire know what it is you admire most... you want to impress them and you want to sound really intellegent or at least not like a dork..and you want to come up with that one thing that impresses them because you know they will remember you...

I first met Melissa mcCarthy (Bridesmaids) season one of Gilmore Girls of paleyfest. we had a conversation that was unique so she remembered me... well when I met her years later at the pilot of Mike and Molly she didn't remember me (as in she didn't say you are the girl who said this) but she remembered the conversation... when i went back a few weeks later she remembered me... we are not friends but i am a person she recognizes when she sees me... do I think she knows my name?  no I don't but I know if there's ever a crowd vying for an autograph I can probably get her to come sign mine before most others....  the ones who remember you... that's like scientology baby... it's a higher plain of existence (or whatever it is they beileve)  that is a special connection... it's rare so it is cherished like a kind word from a hard teacher or a compliment from a cruel parent...  you feel special... you feel like the chosen one and it is amazing....

I do not know if I told if I told this story but I met Gladys Knight a few days before Christmas.  there were a few hundred people in the theater but she happened to cross my path... two things happened that gravitated her to me... one. I applauded her as she passed by me...she was just going to her seat... she was not performing... the theater was humming with people realizing she was RIGHT THERE... I caught her eye and I put my hands together in silent respect. but she gave me that big beautiful GK smile and said thank you.  then the man next to me stopped her and got her to talking... it gave me my second moment... they were talking about food. I said what I normally would 'AW man now you're making me hungry'....  she looked at me and laughed and said I know.  I said we should go out and eat. Ms Knight  I will buy you dinner.. she smiled and said we should exchange information so I said great.  then she said no really  I mean it as she was being escorted to her seat... my friend said you know she just sait that because you gave her no other option.. I was like whatever dude I just talked to gladys knight... that's a good story...  the next thing you know GK's publicist is tracking me down to give me a business card... I don't have mine (idiot) so I say i will email it.  (btw the whole time Denzel Washington is 8 seats away from me and I never saw him not until he got onstage.  ::)    anyway after the event the publicist came back and said gladys will be mad if you don't email me please email me.. I promised... then I saw gladys one last time and she hugged me and told me I had better get in contact with her.  the publicist has been emailed and has already responded that "we will be connected" I dont know when I don't know how but I know I will be there!

It is a rush... you feel good... you feel excited and you feel special... there is no other way to explain it...

Steve and I were at the premiere of a film. we met a few oscar winners, some directors, a few actors and a writer who used to be an actor on Buffy (our favorite show) and gilmore girls.... and I saw Oprah...  and we were talking about how to anyone else that night would be really special... a moment to treasure and to us...it was just Wednesday.  ;D

this is true, but there are also actors who are gay who haven't come out because, despite no longer being as taboo as a decade or so ago, it can still be dangerous to their career---- can they play a leading man can they be straight... agents worry and producers over think it... it's stupid but it has backfired on some.... but not nec. others....  my point is I don't care either way but some fans may get really defensive and demand that the actor they are "protecting" is straight!

For me looking at celebrities is a form of escapism.  Most celebries do have lives on Facebook as a way of connecting with fans but some people can be just downright scary.
I have some groups that are dedicated to some of the bands that I like for example Platinum Blonde, Duran Duran, and Tears for Fears.  I think that's all I really need.  I have never actually stalked the celebrites that I'm associated with but I did become overzealous a few times.  And that's lead to me being blocked or taken out of a few Facebook pages and groups.  But that's neither here nor there.  :)

I think it's perfectly natural to feel the way that we do about celebrities as long as you don't let it be the be all to end all.  I've seen people on Facebook who are just downright scary with their celebrity obsessions and they don't even realize that it's happening until they get blocked.

Good topic, Cat.

I found this on the web. Celebrity worship syndrome. Never heard of that before

Another one: 20 Signs You’re Obsessed With Your Celebrity Crush

It's a fine line sometimes whether you just "like a celeb a whole lot" or are obsessed with them.  I think if different people over a period of time tell you that you are obsessed with the same person...a light should go off in your head and this is when you should listen to them. However when most people are already that obsessed....they won't listen...they brush it off and often dive even further into this obsession...which is very scary and unhealthy.  :-\\

I am a bit perplex as to why some people have obsessions with celebs.

I see it as a variant on fandom, in which the object of one's obsession isn't any individual person, but the world around a certain TV show, fictional universe, or sports team.  Nothing wrong with it; it's basically a hobby.  The difference between the guy who hosts the Super Bowl party and the season's ticket holder who applies face paint and goes to the pre-game tailgating party for every home game is merely one of degree.

I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons, a subsequent generation of nerds played Magic: The Gathering, and many of my co-workers play fantasy football.  It's all good.

But there is a point where it goes past hobby.  When it takes up every waking hour of your life, it is too much.

I agree Dag.  When it gets to the point where you have no life outside your home is when you should be concerned.  I think there's a fine line between a normal crush on a celebrity and just being downright scary and obsessive.  It's a line that fans shouldn't ever cross.

There's also the amusement you get by making complete strangers jealous...lol

Went to a taping of Mike & Molly last night.  I haven't seen the cast in a year.

Melissa McCarthy said welcome back it's great to see you
Billy Gardelland I had a nice convo about his stand up
Nyambi asked where I'd been
Both Reno and Katy hugged me and said they missed me.

The woman beside told her friends - she's knows all of them  :o .  I said, no...they know me  :D

I think that if the celebrity thinks that you're going too far it means it's time to take a break from posting in fan pages for a while.

I think that if the celebrity thinks that you're going too far it means it's time to take a break from posting in fan pages for a while.

this is the problem with Twitter and other social media outlets... it gives fans unprecedented access to their celebs.  They get to read their personal thoughts at the moment they are thought, they feel like they are part of their lives because they know how they feel about Pinks Lord of the Rings Frank (IT'S AWESOME BTW)  they get to read their funny posts/tweets/whatever and....then they get to post/tweet/reply back to them.  The ultimate high is if the celeb reads/quotes/retweets or replies to them...

I don't know why people get so excited over it. I mean I have talked to several celebs via twitter but I'm not delusional enough to think that it means we have a connection.  It is funny because I first connected with Yvette Nicole Brown through twitter... I was at in line for a community event at paleyfest. she tweeted she was excited about it. It was 9am, the event was at 7pm... my friend dom and I tweeted that we were already in line...she asked us to tweet a pic...we did...that night from the stage she looked at us and waved. When Dom asked a question she said- "that's one of my twitter peeps"
later I was on set at Community...when she saw me she said "it's my twitter friend!" and gave me a hug.  Later I was at a taping of the Soup. I didn't get to talk to her but when I tweeted that I was sorry I didn't get to say hi she said she saw me there and knew what I was wearing and where I was sitting.
It was cool.  but I'm not delusional enough to say we are friends... that our connection goes much deeper than that...

I talk to other actors and actresses via twitter too. some of them recognize me when meet but generally not because we tweeted each other but because we met before.

I just recently had a really bad encounter with someone claiming to be an ex of one of the Platinum Blonde band members and she said "tell S----- that I'm still better looking than he is. Hahaha!"
I said "What are you e-mailing me for? I don't know S----- G---- personally."
She said "Oh! Then why do you have so many pictures of him? Sorry!"
I said "Because I'm a Platinum Blonde fan!"
I really didn't feel it was any of her business why I have pictures of this one member of Platinum Blonde.  I don't want him to think that I'm some crazy fan girl.  :P Needless to say this ex upset me.  Talk about being delusional.  ::)

Oh yeah.  No doubt. I know I shouldn't let things like this upset me but I don't know Platinum Blonde personally.  I only know them on Facebook and Twitter because that's how I communnicate with them.  I couldn't think of a nicer way to communicate to this girl that I don't know them personally? But I did stand up for myself and I'm proud of myself for doing so.  It could have been that she was jealous? I don't know?
I certainly wouldn't say if I knew them and if I met them personally.  Just because it's none of anybody's business.  That's just the way I feel about it.

I was never obsessed with any celeb. Yeah I have a crush on a few of the women celebs though which Is healthy.  I wouldn't take it personally if somebody bashed a celeb though. Maybe they just don't like that celeb's work on the TV or in their movies. That's ok if you don't like their acting ok its not your cup of your tea. I think its not healthy in their personal interest just to bash the celeb personally for no reason though.

I would.  I think it's not right to just bash somebody that you don't like.  It's okay if you hate that person's acting or if their style of music isn't your thing but to just bash somebody I just.... :P..... no! :P

I agree that the troll behavior of bashing celebs is out of line and going on Twitter to call them names or provoke a fight is uncalled for

By the same token some fans take their like for a celeb too far judging people because a person doesn't like the same celeb they do....or taking it personally when someone critiques a celeb they worship.

I LOVE TLC. I've been a passive fan but this year with the Kickstarter and their tour with nelly & NKOTB I've become a little obsessed...not gonna lie. Meeting them has been a dream and they were so awesome I had to do it many more times.  But I have a lot of friends who don't like them or don't know who they are. It doesn't bother me just so long as they understand that I am happy.

I may still dislike them but venomous and dark, scary things, scare me.  :P

I agree with you MM.  It can get to be a problem if all you're obsessed with is celebrity.  I try not to be too obsessed with people that I like but sometimes I can't help myself.  :)

I find myself being emotionally attached to Sergio Galli there.  He's quite a hottie to me and I've become more than a bit obsessed with Platinum Blonde.  For some reason I get a little bit jealous of other girls, competitors if you will, that climb all over him. Then I think why are these married bimbos putting their hands on someone whom I consider to be my man?  :-[ :-[ I don't even want anybody else to touch him.  That's how badly I'm crushing on him.  :-[ :-[

The closest I ever got to obsessing over a celebrity was Britney Spears, but even my obsession with her has fizzled out a bit.

I could relate to her mental health issues during her breakdown and her going through a hard time.

Well I like Sergio because he's shy and keeps to himself when he's out of the public eye but when he's on stage he's a completely different person.  I also relate to Mark Holmes because we both lost someone with whom we were very close.

Technically speaking yes.  I don't obsess too much over Platinum Blonde and Sergio Galli, yes you wouldn't know it by my avatar and my signature photo, or my Facebook profile, but there are certain lines that you don't ever want to cross.
I think of Rebecca Shaeffer when I think of celebrity obsession gone too far because her stalker was to the point of over-obsession with her and she died at his hands because of it.
I try not to let admiring Sergio go too far to the point where I would could harm myself or him.

I never did understand the whole "hurt/kill the celeb you love thing". It makes no sense. Why would kill someone you "love"?

I mean the Michael Jackson thing is no secret and at the moment I'm hung up on his nephew Taryll but never ever in my life did it enter my mind to hurt either of them. I have ambitions to meet Taryll if possible but if I ever stood face to face with him I'd hug him, peck his cheek, have him sign my CD. I'd never dream of hurting him. Why would I take a son away from Tito, a brother from Taj and TJ and a father from Bryce and Adren? Never. At worst, Taryll will get a bruise from me hugging too tightly. LOL.

I mean that other sort of mentality makes no sense to me. And occasionally I come across a loony in my club and delete that ass in a hurry. Out of the 160 or so members my club has me and Ash have bounced less than 10 for being a problem or being too, too serious about 3T. One woman actually attacked Taryll's baby mama on Twitter. We cut ties with her ass so fast. And Taryll's baby mama cussed her up down and out. LOL.

One time in 2011, I interacted with this rabid Selena Gomez hater. As you could probably guess, it was because she was a Bieber fan. I sent her a message about how you shouldn't hate on people you are envious of, but all she did was send a comment on my YouTube profile saying "F*** you."

I have a thing about the man on my avatar, Swedish rock musician Tomas Ledin. I have loved him for 36 years. He is my personal celebrity crush and my favourite male vocalist. However, I have too much respect for myself and him to even think of stalking him. He has been married for 33 years and of that I say that I am genuinely pleased he has found someone who loves him. I am pleased he has found happiness and someone to love. I don't 'get' the hate for the spouses/partners of someone's personal pinup. If you really 'loved' or even 'liked' them as much as you say you do, you would be genuinely happy for them.

My favourite female celebrity is also a musician. I have legally changed my forename to hers but that is because I never liked my original one (which I won't be revealing as I hate it that much). But I keep it in perspective for the respect reasons I mentioned earlier.

It's not a sexual thing though with Tomas as I am asexual and have absolutely no interest in sex whatsoever.

Most celebrities, though, just leave me cold. They think they're better than everyone else.

When I went to my Platinum Blonde concert last September I shouted out "OH I LOVE YOU SERGIO!" I think he heard me because he looked up and he smiled at me.
I know that everybody in Platinum Blonde will never love me back like I love them. But I have an internet connection with them.  I'm a lot happier now that I've earned their respect by going to at least one of their shows.  I'm hoping that there's going to be more shows to come as soon as the 2016 tour dates are announced.
I wouldn't/couldn't ever kill one of them.  Because to me it's heart breaking when even one member of a band is missing.  It's tough enough that Kenny MacLean died when he did but to even think that one of them was harmed by someone who's supposed to love them it would just be too much for me to handle.

I forgot about John Lennon too who was murdered by Mark David Chapman in 1980. He was a victim of celebrity obsession gone too far as well.

But I think I'm smart enough to know when somebody likes me and when it's just a crush. Taken too far a celebrity crush can be deadly.

I've been working on writing and little odds and ends for my 3T fanclub today and while I was messing on Twitter, their song "Anything" played, so I tweeted about it and THIS happened:

Look who he retweeted! Look who he retweeted! ME! TJ Jackson retweeted me!

So my friends and I had the cursory celebration about it. After a while once I simmered down, I sent a thank you to TJ.  And THIS happened:

And all our fingers are crossed for a USA tour. I'm already preparing.  ;D

Right now all my friends are tweeting their butts off. Makes me happy. First I got a tweet from Taryll last October, now TJ. Waiting patiently on Taj and the set will be complete. LOL

And all our fingers are crossed for a USA tour. I'm already preparing.  ;D

By the same token some fans take their like for a celeb too far judging people because a person doesn't like the same celeb they do....or taking it personally when someone critiques a celeb they worship.

I've experienced that a few times and always from the same group of fans - Kylie Minogue fans. They are really fanatical in their love for her and are extremely nasty if you admit you don't like her. Now, they ARE dangerous.

I took it personally when someone bashed Sergio's guitar playing and said that he "couldn't play" so I said "you do know that Mark and Sergio's guitars and microphones are wireless?"?

Today was a banner day for me on Twitter.

I've seen Facebook photos of female Platinum Blonde fans posing with band members that are truly cringe worthy.  Especially if that person is pulling that band member down  because they're taller.  I just don't like looking at photos like that because it looks painful and unnatural to me.  I think of it in terms of how much they can handle being pulled down and how old Mark and Sergio are and if it's worth it to anyone if the tour gets put off because their backs get hurt because their  fans are pulling them down, because they're not young anymore, they're both 55, but they're both not spring chickens either.  ::) ::)

Seriously? I've never seen anything like that in my fan bubble. We tease Taj some because he's the shortest one in 3T, but with most of the female fans, he's still taller than them. (Although my best friend Ebonie is like 6'1'' in her bare feet, she's never make fun of him) That's just weird. And it's just weird to tease a person about something they have no control over. Did I want to stop at 5'5''? Naw, but I'm stuck with it.
I haven't really heard that much negativity in the 3T base, but I know it DOES conflict with the MJ fandom. Just because some love MJ, the love is not reciprocated for the rest. And that section that can't stand 3T, I don't mess with them. They don't exist to me. The only sort of problem I see in the 3T fan bubble are the ones that act like they're Gods or something holy and the ones who can't stand Taryll's partner. That's about it. The rest of us are happy, nice people. I'm mentioning 3T more because I'm more into them than their uncle at the moment.
Don't feel bad, I'm sure your band will play when they're ready. The guys in my band are getting up there too--42, 40, and 37--but my biggest concern isn't a tour, it's a USA tour since they like going overseas and I do NOT want to have to endure a flight to Amsterdam to see them!  >:(

For me it just comes down to treating all band members with respect.  I'm only 5 ft 7 and Sergio is 5 ft 9.  I don't really need to pull them down and try to jump on the stage.
I don't know per se but I think the reason why Mr. Galli doesn't have any social media interaction with fans is because he must find that some fans are a bit overwhelming and don't know how to interact with him in a way that's comfortable for him.
Two of my guys in my band are 55 and one guy in my band just turned 45 this past Saturday.  It's just ridiculous how many fans act that way towards him.  ::) ::)

That's what I hope I'm doing with 3T. I mean joke about certain things, like Taryll has a big forehead, and TJ forgets lyrics easily and how Taj's ears stick out, but we're not malicious. My friends know I'm kidding and I know they're kidding. And we'd never go to THEM poking fun and teasing, lord no. For the most part the fans are nice and treat the band right. And as far as the MJ fanbase goes, if someone gets out of line there's someone there to pull them back right. I don't generally bother with it unless it's just something so OTT I have to speak. Like we try to keep it on the up and up.
And I still don't think the ages matter. Hell, I like the Jacksons and they're all well into their 50s and 60s. Again, as I said some of the MJ fanbase ride high horses and try to look down their noses at his brothers, but I don't fudge with them because I'd get mad because Michael wasn't a solo act in 1969, he was a part of the Jackson Five and he  and his brothers all started together. I respect that. And really the bottom line I like the Jacksons, they're a family. What I look like badmouthing one and then liking another?
But I understand the social media thing. Some people can do the utmost or even stalk and its a shame. I still beg 3T for a USA tour, but I space my tweets to about one a WEEK so I don't be a nuisance.
(as a comparison, my friend Stacie is wild about this Japanese band and DAILY i see her tweets to them. kind of glad she cooled off from 3T because theyd be swamped with her.)

Okay I need help here because this is outside my realm of expertise. I've been a Michael Jackson fan for over 20 years and never did I ever feel scared for Michael's life. I have only been seriously back with 3T since October (though off and on since 98) and I am really, legitimately scared for Taryll Jackson's life and don't know what in the hell to do. Like I know I like Taryll and I guess have a crush on him, but I still live in the real world and respect he has a partner and kids, etc. Recently I befriended this woman who said she liked him too. Now for me to say someone is overboard, they gotta be sinking like the Titanic. I chatted with her last night and she was showing me all these deep-ass heartfelt poems she wrote for Taryll. (I write my eroticas but I'd swan dive off a high structure if Taryll or his bros ever read it from embarrassment) Like she is in love with Taryll or thinks she is.I thought she was a little "off" because she said she felt this special bond to Taryll, etc.
Then this morning I went to my fanclub and found this posted:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/9b/ee/6a/9bee6ad76e6cafb5ec421f9967ec543d.jpg

And she did buy this man a ring. I've seen it. The whole club has cause she posted a picture. A real thick, white gold band that cost thousands! At best for me I'd like to just meet Taryll and shake his hand, peck his cheek maybe. This dame wants to be his soulmate.  :( She scares me because Taryll is relatively normal. He lives in the subburbs. You can walk up to his door and ring the bell, it's not full security detail like Michael Jackson had, and I am terrified this woman will find her way across the country to him and we'll have a Rebecca Shaffer or John Lennon situation on our hands. She is unstable.
I want to sever all ties with her and bump her from my club but she hasn't actually done anything mean...she's just hanging on to this man too damn hard and I'm having a bull session with my co-presidents and they're as scared as I am. I am legit mortified. Someone what should I do?This is supposed to be fun. Being a fan of someone is supposed to be fun. Not scary!

I tend to rid myself of negative people and that's because I want to keep my groups and pages as fun and clean as possible.  I have never revealed how much the members of my band means to me especially friends who have met and have ties with the band.  And I don't reveal my secrets on how I get my band's attention when I'm posting online. Those secrets are mine and mine alone.
I love Platinum Blonde.  But I wouldn't let anybody harm them.  If that means getting rid of some of the crazies who think that fandom means turning your love for a band into a pissing contest then so be it.  Just don't bring that stuff around me.

I like you, Apollonia, you have your admiration for 3T well in correct perspective (they're not bad looking lads either!). And you, Celeste, likewise with Platinum Blonde.

The mentality expressed by this young lady over Taryll is dangerous and needs to be attended to before any damage is done. It is not fair to Taryll, his family or his genuine sensible fans.

I am a massive fan of Tomas Ledin (he on my avatar, a Swedish rock musician). I have loved him for 36 years but am too sensible to ever expect anything to have come of it. When  I heard he was married, my first thought was 'Great, I'm pleased he's found someone to love and who loves him and is happy'. He has been married for 33 of those 36 years and they are still together and still very much in love. In almost every picture of them together, he has his arm protectively around her. I wouldn't like anyone to harm him, his wife, his sons, his parents (both still living), his wife's mother (her father died some years ago) or their siblings and their families and it disturbs me to know that there are some strange people out there who would do just that.

Have your heroes by all means, but keep it in perspective.

^^^^ Agreed Redhairkid.  Lots of people go over board with their fandom.  I know I'm smart enough to know when somebody loves me and when somebody loves me; loves me.
And what I've seen of Platinum Blonde fandom is not just teenaged girls with their first crush on a rock band that their parents loved.  Many of PB's fans are grown women who loved them when they were teenagers.
I think it's okay to love a band but it's not okay to make your band the be all to end all.  :) Even if you were able to hook up with a band member that doesn't always mean that they're going to love you back

I agree with both of y'all. Now when I was 15/16 yeah I had it real bad for MJ, but even then I could kind of sense when I was doing too much and would take a break.I don't know how that got in me but I'm glad of it. The majority of the fan base for 3T are at least 25+ in age because most were kids and teens when the band came out in 1995. So they are all adults, with SO, spouses, kids, etc. I mean they live their lives. What frightens me is this woman isn't some starry eyed teen. She is an adult. I think she said she was the same age as Taryll. He's forty so I assume she's somewhere in that age bracket. And that's about 10 years older than me and I got my sheesh together and know what's what. She needs a reality check. I think the problem is at least partly is because a great deal of the fanbase doesn't care for Taryll's partner, Breana because she came across as a really sort of mean little woman on their reality show, where his brother's wives were incredible sweet. And  Taryll spent about 4 episodes out of 6 in tears about "being unhappy in his relationship". That being said he is still with her. And I think this loony woman feels that IF Taryll ever does leave Breana she could just swoop in and take him. (frankly we got a pool going that he'd run back to Kourtney Kardashian though, because he was with her before Breana) but the point is, this woman is a stranger unknown to him and she can fill the space of his children's mother. She can't separate fantasy from reality.
My friends and I joke that the members of 3T are "our men" but I think she really believes it. I think I will keep an eye on her, keep my ears open and just kind of try to make sure she doesn't do anything weird. Because I will blow the whistle on her. Because I won't sit by and let one of my favorite celebrities be harmed if I can stop it.

I doubt there's any real threat there. If she said she was buying a plane ticket or gassing up the car to drive to wherever he lives then I'd be worried.

If you are really concerned tiff then you find the name of his agent or management company and you alert them with the woman's name and any other info you have on her. That's all you can do.

The manager/agent should be easy enough to find if you don't already know it. And their company should have a website or business info avail online.

Will do. And trust me I already know the name of his agent because I begged months ago for an autograph. Got bupkes. But if I see the tides turn, I'll be all over the agent like Mike Tyson at a beauty pageant. I'm just leery of people like this woman because it's the ones like her that give the fans a bad name. And 3T are much more interactive with their fans than Michael ever was. They'll stand and chat, and sign autographs and take pictures and all. I can't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

It's a good idea Q.  I think that there's a line that fans shouldn't ever cross.  For me the line between fans and musicians.
I adore Platinum Blonde, maybe I'm a tad obsessed with them, and all I did last was shout out "OH! I LOVE YOU SERGIO!!" I think he heard me because he looked up at me and he smiled at me.

The Whackadoos are coming out the woodwork now in my 3T universe. The same one that's so loony for Taryll said the story I posted made her CRY. (I don't see how. In the story the girl is a veterinarian taking care of Michael Jackson's sick pet tiger and Taryll distracted her causing the tiger to injure her and he's sorry...and it's almost a Florence Nightingale deal in about 20 pages. But I guess the fact they got together at the end resonated with her.)  ::)

The second loony tune said my stories sounded like real life and went on to ask me if I had "been" with 3T before. 1--How rude. 2--Um, NO. (still don't know how people figure I'm even in the same league as them) 3--I wouldn't kiss and tell if I HAD. 4--Yet again, HOW RUDE. It sounds real because I'm just talented. LOL

And piggybacking on what Celeste said I also have a Tumblr. It started out to be an all Michael Jackson one, but at the moment it's a mash of ALL my interests--Jacksons, 80s, old films and stars, etc. (also an outlet to promote my writing) And I guess no one is offended, because I have close to 1000 followers. I stay tied in social media to keep up on everything, because I'm trying to also get in with the Old Hollywood enthusiasts and now every month I'm going to screenings and things with that. So I can separate myself from the Jacksons and indulge my other interests.
Some people, I don't think, HAVE other interests... :(

I only invite close friends that I really trust to like my tumblr page so I don't have any of the "crazies" that are normally associated with the band.  As I explained to people before I've had a lot of bad experiences with people who seemed normal at first but then thought that I was only into the Blondes because of their physical appearances.  Looks aren't everything as they say.
I don't know what to say when someone comes up to me and says that "they don't care about you" and yadda yadda yadda.
But my thing is that I already know what the people who are telling me this don't know.  They don't care about me and they never will care about me.  I can live with a friendship with the band online.
I'm looking forward to hearing where the band is going to be next, and they don't release the details until May, but still I'm here to make connections with other fans online and connections with the band.
That's why I try to be a part of as many fan pages as I can.  So I can have fun and connect with other fans and the band.  :)

Celeste, I listened to a couple of PB's songs. Not bad.  :) I like 80s rock anyway... :)

On Topic: Today was another good Twitter day. A few days ago, a few friends and myself noticed that TJ Jackson looked a lot like the Prince from "Princes and the Frog" and while my friends agreed, I said "tweet it to him" none of them had the damn nerve. I swear people have no gumption or tenacity anymore. So I said to hell with it and posted it:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/55/fe/b2/55feb2db60de3b7d6b489ab43de13a3a.jpg

(And that picture of him squatting is from over 10 years ago.)
I didn't even realize I had @'ed him (twitter's version of tagging someone) just when you write certain names it automatically fills it in. I posted it and left it. Had my laugh and moved on.
Then today my phone started exploding, with people saying "Go to Twitter! Go look!"
So I did, and saw THIS:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/8b/9e/d6/8b9ed6cd2323d44e1caa2901212c6c60.jpg

I was floored.
My THIRD tweet from TJ in an incredibly short span of time. (and I have one friend who tweets him daily every day, and gets bupkes)
I feel special. I had a crappy weekend and this has greatly improved it.  ;D
Now if only TARYLL would slide into my mentions instead of his little brother!  ::)

Oh my, he is the dude from the Prince and the Frog!  :o

I usually get excited when I know the tour dates for Platinum Blonde are coming soon.  ;D

It's okay. I was excited too. Some time after that, same night, TJ's wife actually liked a tweet I made where I complimented their youngest son and my friends were freaking out asking "How" I got them to respond. I just got lucky. That's all it is. Luck.
I hope PB go on tour so you can see them and I hope 3T tour the USA so I can see them.  2015 was so horrible for me, losing my daddy and all and their show and music and everything just made it a little bit easier to endure.  :)

That makes a member of Monty Python responding to one of my facebook post seem trivial.

I just feel lucky Reynolds1863. I've had alot more luck with contact with 3T than I ever had with their uncle Michael. I couldn't even get Michael to reply to a fan letter I wrote and with 3T, it's just been nice.

I live chatted with Taj (plaid shirt) in 2006 on his birthday, that's the only contact I've had with him, although my friend Ashley did get a tweet from him last year.
I got one tweet from Taryll (in black), who is my favorite in the band and I was happy for about a solid week. LOL. That was a triumph because I had followed this man from Myspace to Facebook to Twitter and finally got a response from him. LOL.
TJ (in grey) is the most active on twitter and I see his tweets daily. A bunch of us have gotten tweets from him. I have one friend that actually tweets him daily. because she likes getting replies from him so much.

Do any of the Monty Python guys have a Twitter, you can try you luck on there. I just space out my tweeting 3T to maybe 2 or 3 times a month. I don't want to make nuisance of myself.  :)

I also lost my dad last year.  I was listening more to Platinum Blonde and everyone else I could think of.  Luckily my mother was willing to finance my trip and she was willing to take me there.  :)  So I'm happy that I got to do that.  I hope you get to go and see 3T Tiffeny.  :)

I got another Twitter hit last night and almost came out my skin when I noticed it. My favorite show at the moment is cop drama "Shades of Blue" and I've spent every Thursday night trying to get a response out of actor Ray Liotta (best know as Henry in "Goodfellas" my fave mob movie BTW) Last night I got lucky!

In weird news, I've been watching that one whackadoo fan who is obsessed with Taryll and the more I look at her, the more my friends and I are kind of convinced on some level she wants to be me or something. Because everyone generally knows I have kidney issues and I extremely comfortable in talking about it. A while back whackadoo said her grandfather was diagnosed with Stage 5 renal failure and was going to die because he refused dialysis.
There is NO Stage 5. I should know, because I'm Stage 4 and that's "end stage renal disease". Where if I didn't take my dialysis regularly, I'd die.
Also it's no secret that in his final years my father suffered from Parkinson's Disease. A few days ago this woman said she was diagnosed as having early symptoms.
I don't know who she's trying to bullsheesh but I am not the one. You think I don't know about PD? How it generally is onset in later years--the woman is 40. Or how it generally effects MEN more than women?  ::)
Really now?
And to add insult to injury, I caught her in a lie I'm just choosing when to call her on it.
She claims she has a Michael Jackson hat her mother caught at a concert. Plausible, until I started doing the math. She claimed the hat was caught the year before she was born. IF she really is 40 like Taryll, she'd have been born in 1975 or 76, which means at the earliest the hat would have been caught in 1974. I've studied MJ and the Jackson 5 for 20 years. There was no hat tossing in 1974.
Also, how is Michael going to throw a hat for a song he wouldn't record for another 8 years, and didn't stage it until 10 years later.
I'm just sitting and watching the world burn at the moment. Because not YET this woman hasn't done anything to personally offend me. I'm just waiting and piling up my case evidence in the meantime. I am annoyed though with people claiming illnesses and sheesh they don't have. You can lie, just don't lie about serious stuff like that.

I don't think Michael really threw his hats into the crowds until the very early 1980s when he started out on his solo journey.  Given the fact that it was about 1980 when he tried to distance himself from his brothers.
I had a similar experience with someone who claimed to be an ex-gf of one of the Platinum Blonde band members.  I don't think I was ever more offended in my whole life because at the time I didn't know anybody in Platinum Blonde personally.
And now that I've been to a single show I feel like I've earned the PB's respect.  I would like to keep their respect.  :)

He didn't until the Victory tour in 1984.  The hat throwing thing was introduced then, and over his solo tours he made the dance longer, more intricate and would beatbox. By the time he died, the whole Billie Jean performance was over 10 minutes long.
If anyone would what MJ did onstage and when, it'd be me. This gal lying out her ass. My friends and I haven't been this tickled since that one chick was going around pretending to be Tito Jackson's daughter. It's quite ridiculous to say she's so old and cutting up like this. And its needless. You're not impressing me or anyone else. It's a joke. It's sad to be that desperate. I'm just glad she hasn't figured out how to tag Taryll on Twitter, or he'd be driven stone cold loco by her.  ::)

I haven't seen ALL of Ray's movies but I have seen bits and pieces of that one. It's something about  mentally challenged brother right? I think Ray was the challenged man's brother. It seemed like a good movie.

I was going through my Facebook notices when I noticed that there was a notice saying "Morag MacLean liked your post on Kenny MacLean's time line."  So I went to check it out.  I had posted a video on Kenny's Facebook timeline for his birthday, and yes I'm aware that Kenny's been deceased for 7 years, of him singing Space Oddity with the lyrics reworked.
For those of you who don't know Morag is Kenny's sister.  I didn't realize that Kenny was such a fan of David Bowie?
I couldn't even believe that members of Kenny's family are liking the things that I posted on Kenny's Facebook.  ;D I mean that's just so cool! ;D

What in the unholy hell is it about me that seems to draw all of the whackadoos in a fanbase out of the woodwork? Now y'all have seen the unfolding saga with this one woman who thinks she's Taryll Jackson's soulmate, etc. etc. (Most of the MJ fanbase has mellowed thankfully)
But another Taryll fan--what is it about Taryll that draws out the crazy in people?--and she landed in my mentions on Twitter. At first she wrote to me asking me to do another Taryll story. (Um, hell nah. I just published a story on March 4, and it has almost 100 reads now) I'm focused on a TJ story, my first one in 10 years, it requires a good amount of attention etc. I was nice about the request though, its flattering to get requests, and only said I'd come up with something. I also noticed that the girl said she still wasn't getting a reply from 3T even though she kept tweeting them. I  fudgeed up by simply saying, "keep trying, one of my friends got a tweet from TJ yesterday" (my friend Ianca, DID get a tweet from him)

And then THIS appeared in my mentions: (I enlarged it a bit to make the words legible)
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/66/3b/5b/663b5b8ae892ed618f84e81afc6b3984.jpg

I read that, and then showed it to a friend and we both agreed that's some "Fatal Attraction" sheesh right there. Absolutely ridiculous.
I don't know why these people don't seem to understand that 3T have lives outside the music business and families.
Taryll does music, but he just started coaching his sons two little league teams, etc, etc. They all coach their kid's sports teams (except Taj, he's married, but has no children at the moment. He does do photography and manage his wife who is a triplet and part of a singing group with her sisters!)
It's selfishness. And borderline insanity to think anyone other than a Kardashian is constantly hanging onto Twitter and social media.  My replies are sheer luck. I don't know them personally. I've never seen them in person--YET. All of us that got replies, got lucky. That's why I told her to keep trying. And if she is jealous of me, she needs to get over it because I RUN our particular 3T club and it is club business if I get a tweet from any of them. I tweet Taryll from time to time, but literally haven't gotten a word from him since October. Am I mad? Am I jealous? Is it eating me alive? Do I feel ignored?
NO.
Just grow up, keep positive, keep it moving forward and keep trying.
I'm just happy that Taryll's pit bull is too big to be put into a pot and boiled! I don't know what it is about Taryll that brings out the crazy in folks, but I know fans of his brothers and non of them clown like this.
I don't know what to do with people like this. If I can understands the ins and outs of what 3T are doing, why can't others?

I wish people would keep themselves level headed when a band doesn't respond to friend or follow requests right away.  I'm never worried one bit if Platinum Blonde doesn't respond to my Twitter posts because I know that they will reply eventually.  In fact I got a Twitter like from Dan Todd's, my band's drummer's, twin brother because I had sent a birthday message to them.
I just put his brother's name in the search engine and I just scrolled down until I found it.  :) I try to keep my messages simple, short, and to the point. That way he won't think that I'm some goofy fan girl who's after his brother.  :)

i wish the same thing too. I don't know what the hell this woman is thinking really and then she's all in my mentions--it went on longer than what I screencapped--and she was all in tears asking me to help her after I said apologize to them. Because they aren't obligated to reply in the first place, but if you're gonna be nasty, they could block your ass and keep moving. I am not sticking my neck out for her. No way. You can do bad all by yourself. I want to stay on their good side. Hell I'm even kind of leery about my eroticas floating around but if they've looked at my actual twitter page they can see it. No one has complained so it's all good. I try to keep things positive and stay out of the mess. But I'm not going to bat for this woman. She dug the hole for herself. LOL.

i wish the same thing too. LOL.
She needs to calm down.

When we were at odds I was a bit of a zealot and I knew that my behaviour and the way that I worded things aimed towards this person was slowly becoming a bit problematic.  I'm just starting now to realize that I was too mouthy and aggressive for my own good.  I seemed to have this stupid idea that if I over stepped it a bit and pushed him away that he would be a bit more friendly with me but that backfired on me.  I want to spare everyone the details of what happened.
Since I went to the concert back in September I've been a little more respected by the band and that's how I want to keep it.  I think they were happy to see me at that concert to be incredibly truthful.  :)

Yes he did and I cried a little bit. LOL Big Ray Liotta fan!

I hate Kanye in general because his mouth is burying him with alot of people and he's offending so many fanbases at once I can't keep track of it. But I'm glad your post got liked. I just keep looking at how loony he is and keep thanking God that Taryll and TJ got the hell away from the Kardashian girls before they fudgeed them up. I keep saying they dodged major bullets there. Phew.

Yes he's a loud mouth.  It's a good thing Taylor Swift put him in his place.  Otherwise I'm pretty sure he would let his ego go wild.  :P  F|_|ck you Kanye! You're not the greatest thing since sliced bread and neither is your piece of ass wife.  :P

I keep looking at the Kardashians and thanking God that the Jacksons got away from them (TJ dated Kim, and Taryll dated Kourtney when they were in high school) I can't even begin to imagine the havoc that would have been wreaked if those families had combined.
Well I'd already see divorces. I know TJ wouldnt let his wife be posting selfies on the internet. No man should let his wife do that. LOL  Especially if y'all got kids who can mimic the behavior.
There was actually a point to the Jacksons reality show where TJ's oldest son, Royal mentioned he knew who Kim was , while TJ was driving and you could actually see TJ swerve the car. LOL.

I used to like the Kardashians then they just got too weird for me and I like...naw.  Just...naw. (Although I am still trying to master how in the hell to do the Kylie lip contour with lip pencils...I aint bruising my mouth sucking on a shot glass! )

I'm going to leave the whole thing with Caitlynn alone. I don't fully understand that, so that's all I have to say.

I know that the K people have stayed friendly with the Jacksons because on the Jacksons show, Kourtney and Kris were at Taryll's 40th birthday party (and Taryll's girlfriend stuck to him like white on rice too)  But I think they'll always kind of be cool because I know when 3T's mother was murdered I read in an article that you know the K people were there for them and all. Especially TJ he was the youngest and would just start bawling in class about it. So they were human then but they are the classic example of what fame can do to a person and I haven't seen a stage mother as pushy as Kris in my life.

And given my background in child pageants, that says ALOT.  ;D
But I've always seen Tito stressing the importance of family to his sons I never really saw that with the K people...so.

(but I can't really talk because if my family were hanging off a cliff, I'd stomp on their fingertips until they let go I despise them so wholeheartedly. Aside from my parents whom I loved, the rest can merrily go to hell.)

Now I've been on Twitter all day long, but I only sent TWO 3T related tweets out of about 50. The rest were to my friends, goofing off, and keeping my reader posted on the progress of my latest story.

My friend Stacie and I watched the Kardashians first two seasons, because we were convinced we'd see 3T. We got bupkes, said fudge it and went back to Paris and Nicole like we always watched. LOL.  ;D (of course at the time we didn't know that TJ (( Stacie's fave was married)) or that Taryll ((my fave)) was with the woman he's with now.)
But I do remember when the sex tape broke, Stacie kind of went ape sheesh because she thought it was Kim and TJ and was mad saying "He's a Jackson, how can he do that Tito will kick his ass!" and then we found out it was Ray J and simmered down.
Good times. Good times...

Yeah. I don't ever want to over do it. One tweet a week to them. Now I did send two to Taryll a while back because both his sons birthdays are like 3 days apart and everyone was doing "happy birthdays". (Also coming in August is a hot month for all of us because Taryll and Taj's birthdays are 4 days apart, then Michael's is at the end of the month and then 2 days before Michael's birthday is the anniversary of 3T's Mom's death, so we have to send condolences. And that's all I remember. Any other birthdays, etc pop up I'll hear about it. )
FOUR Jackson birthdays fall around mine in May. LOL.
But I'm not posting daily. I can't. I have too much other stuff to do.

No I don't overdo it either.  I also tweet out birthdays to my blonde boys.  (Although the closest Mark Holmes has ever come to being a blonde again is this)

https://www.instagram.com/p/wXgFjCEknn/

The story behind this photo is that I said out loud that I "missed his 1984 spiky blonde hair and his guyliner and his guyshadow."  ;D My FB friend told me to go and look at Mark's instagram feed.  I did and there was this photo.  OMG! It takes me back to 1984.  LOL!  My friend was so mad that he did that for me.  ;D

I honestly don't know why people act a damn fool on social media and then get surprised when someone slaps them back to reality.
There's this one girl on Twitter, we follow each other, and she also reads my stories. And to be honest, I have never in my life, seen anyone argue online as much as this girl has. Like i literally could check into Twitter right now at almost 8 pm central time. She'll be arguing. I can leave, go eat, watch a movie, go to bed and come back--still fighting. That being said, frankly, it makes a good way to waste time, to sit and watch the constant drama unfold. (Now I know I'll jump in and fight about Michael Jackson/Jackson family, but no amount of energy drinks can give me the will to do it constantly!)
That being said, the girl is quite well known for being outspoken and I saw a tweet from her that really kind of chilled my blood. It made me so mad, I don't even want to waste time screen capping it.
But for the last few months, Joe Jackson has been in rather ill health, following several strokes. Every so often you'll see one of my friends saying things like "pray for Joe" etc. You know, nice stuff, rallying the fans in support of him.
This gal wrote that she thought Joe was going to pass soon.
That really plucked my nerves because WHY would you even say that? I don't care if you think it, but why say that publicly, in an arena where not just the fans gather, but the family. He's people's father and grandfather and great-grandfather and that's really hurtful. It really struck me as rude, honestly.
She's being wholly dragged and cussed out on Twitter right now because of it.
While alot of the MJ/3T fanbase are leery of Joe for various reasons we DO respect him for who he is and what he had a hand in building and you can't just disregard that. Well if you have any sense you don't.
I'm just gonna sit back, watch the fireworks and enjoy my citrus energy drink.

I get put off when people state the obvious or they use the obvious to tell me what to do.  All I have to say to that is DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!! I can solve my own problems.  I don't need other people to help me solve my problems.

I FINALLY figured out how to get the Youtube vids to show! YAY!

hpqQFQUj5gk

3T performing "Anything" circa 1996 on the "Brotherhood" European Tour.

ElB45T2sqEg
3T performing the same song at the Foute Party Music Festival in 2015. (this is the same concert they played on their reality show)
(Taryll thickened out and got even sexier!)  8)

My friends think it's the funniest thing that they perform the routine exactly how they did 20 years ago, down to the towel toss.

I don't know what I did to deserve it but in the last two weeks, my 3T Twitter exposure has kind of exploded.

--I wrote in a happy birthday to Baby Rio (TJ Jackson's youngest child) and Frances Jackson (TJ's wife) liked my tweet.
--I wrote something about starting my day with 3T's music, TJ retweeted it.
--On the same tweet Thayanna Jackson liked (Taj's wife)
--I retweeted a photo of Taryll's two sons playing Little League baseball and Breanna (Taryll's partner; he's not married) liked it.
--And just last night as I was watching TV one of my friends I chat with posted a screencap of another tweet of mine that TJ had retweeted.

It may not mean much to anyone, but every one of these is like a ray of sunshine for me. Back in the day, I remember trying to send fan letter to Michael Jackson at Neverland and they actually got returned until my mom made me stop "wasting" her stamps and envelopes. And now to have this "contact" is nice. Makes me happy. (And some of the other fans still grumble wondering how I get retweets and not them.  :D )

Frankly I use it for a few reasons:
--To keep up with 3T and see when and where they'll do concerts. My main reason for joining Twitter in the first place.
--To promote my stories and link up with other MJ/3T fans.
--For news because I'm sick of seeing Trump's carrot stick ass on the TV all the time.
--And for makeup. I follow alot of gurus and am honing my technique. And the giveaways are boss. I'm hoping to win several items at the moment. LOL

Wow! That's awesome Tiffeny.

I tweeted a Happy Birthday to the twins and I got a tweet like from Dan's brother Doug.
I posted a video of Kenny playing Space Oddity at his CD Launch Party and I got a facebook like from Kenny's sister Morag
I posted a video of an old interview of Mark Holmes and Kenny MacLean doing a CBC interview with Terry David Mulligan and Good Rockin' Tonite and got a like from Mark Holmes and a comment from him.
"Brovil is brand of beef boullion that one mixes with hot water.  It used to be served on cold days on the football field.  It's great seeing Kenny again.  I'm so happy that we have all of these memories to look back on.  He will always be my partner in crime and my best friend.
Thank you for posting this video and making my day.  MH."
I was on cloud 9 for two weeks after I got that response from Mark.  I mean that was so cool that I made his day.  :)
I also got a like from Mark Holmes when I posted a photo of him and Sergio Galli sitting on a couch that has upholstered with fabric that looks like a Union Jack.  :)

I mean these are just moments in Platinum Blonde history that I felt proud to be a PB fan.  :) I just couldn't stop talking about the points in my life where I made that fan/musician connection with PB.

I know we run around in separate fanbases, Celeste, but I can really appreciate the feeling it gives you when a celebrity you like acknowledges you. Makes you feel like it all worthwhile. I know for me, it means that they do see my tweets and hopefully me and my american fan friends are really putting the nugget of thought into their heads for a domestic tour before they go international again. I already lost 6 pounds to look good in a picture next to Taryll, damn it. (You get at the arena early enough, you likely WILL meet them and get autographs, etc.)  My friend Ebonie is even skipping attending Wrestlemania on the off-chance there's a tour. And I literally asked her, are you sure? And she was sure. She loves wrestling like I love MJ, so that's major.
I rambled...sorry. But it's a good feeling to get acknowledged.  :)

It definitely is Tiffeny.  I always get excited when one or all of the band acknowledges me. But the odd time when Platinum Blonde does acknowledge me it seems to bring out the worst in people.  It seems to make people a bit jealous of me.
This is the reason why I only let people into my personal space that I really trust won't be jealous of me for getting acknolwedgement from the band.  I look at it like if a band member acknowedges me then fine I don't make a really big issue out of it but if they don't respond to me that's fine too.  I don't make a big issue out of it really.
People get jealous of me for the wrong reasons.  I have a lot of instances where people have tried to become friends with me because of who I know online.  I don't want to be friends with anybody who only likes me because of who I know online.

Is it worth it to me to earn my acknowledgement from the band? Yes! Is it worth it to me to have people like my social media pages because of who I know online? Ummm? No! :P

I also started an e-mail correspondence with Chris Steffler, Platinum Blonde's original drummer, after I sent him a picture collage that I made for him.  He sent me a response, or someone was writting for him and he said "Thanks Celeste! Have a sunny fun day!"  Then he called me a "very cool lady!"
That was a year and a half ago and I haven't stopped talking about it since then.  ;D I was basically on cloud 9 when he gave me such a positive response.  I do miss Chris and Kenny totally but I know I have to start concentrating on the brand new band and that's what I'm doing right now.

Aww that's great! I don't like it when the members of a band change. I like it to stay as is. (You don't know how many years it took for me to understand the difference between the Jackson Five and The Jacksons, mainly because Jermaine and Randy were not on my radar.)

I guess that's one of the ups about liking 3T, there's only 3 brothers and they can't split. Oh they tried it and when Tito mentioned it to the brothers they went kind of ballistic. I got proof, I got the DVD. But I'll never forget how as soon as Tito said "3T is splitting" on TV, my phone rang and my best friend was in TEARS. It was that serious, and that's the short version. I guess that's the difference with a band of family members and one with just friends.  :)
I'll send out my weekly tweet to the guys later this week. Fingers crossed I get another hit. LOL.

I don't like when things change either but this time around change was a necessary evil because Chris got bogged down with tinnittus and he was told to stop drumming otherwise he would go deaf.
The last time Chris quit was after the Alien Shores tour in 1986 because he didn't like the way people were treating them.  He said that he didn't want to be treated like an w-h-o-r-e.  My friend, who is a coffee barista and a Naturopath, kept up a correspondence with Chris as well and she's giving him articles on how to treat tinnittus naturally.

Wow, that's heavy.I'm sorry he had to stop playing. But he does need to conserve his hearing.

3T can play all of their own instruments--they play everything on their albums--but they don't play the drums in their stage shows. Usually is Taryll on lead guitar, TJ on bass, and on some songs Taj plays keyboards and a silver triangle. And all their children play instruments too.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/c4/70/55/c47055006351c309d8e6834ac5d26f46.jpg
That's Taryll's living room, and you can see the piano, guitars and drum set. His instagram is full of his kids (ages 8 and 5) playing instruments. He actually has a studio in his house and most of 3T's latest album was recorded in it.
Although I don't play instruments, alot of people around me do play. My father actually used to play drums in 50s and 60s for a bunch of blues musicians and Ike and Tina once, my uncle is a guitarist, and my best friend plays piano and bass. It just never particularly interested me as I'm more inclined to art with words instead of music. But I appreciate and respect that creative mind, you know?  ;D

Back on topic, what will Chris do now, since he can no longer play. Is he at least drawing royalties to stay afloat?

I don't know if Chris is being compensated monetarily?  I do know that he wanted to be involved in the PB reunion but sadly he didn't take care of himself by protecting what hearing he had left.  All I can do is wish him well and hope that he's getting his tinnitus treated.  Once you have tinnitus it's hard to get rid of it if you ever do get rid of it.
That's why Dan Todd is there.  He picked up where Chris left off.  It can take months or even years before we can see if Chris can still play.  Mark said that Chris's hearing is more important than playing live at the moment.
This is why Mark has become such a staunch advocate for hearing impairment and hearing loss.  Because it's hard to get it back once you've lost it.

In the 3T stratosphere, a friend of mine broke a video of something we never thought we'd live to hear: 3T cursing.
I know it sounds weird, but we've never heard them swear, even on their TV show when they'd be toe to toe arguing nothing.
But TJ's oldest son, Royal, posted a video of one of those interactive video games, you know the kind where everyone is talking back and forth through headsets (I'm not a gamer, so I don't know the terminology) It's a game version of capture the flag, but they could shoot and blow each other up.
You put four men together for a game, the yuck-mouths come out and they were all cursing each other back and forth, but it was literally the politest cursing I ever heard. A bunch of d-bombs. Taryll cursed the most because every time I looked up there was an explosion and his little player laying in a ball somewhere. And at the moment, a tweet I made about it is going viral on Twitter.
I know swears aren't much--I do it daily--but it was YEARS before I heard a Jackson curse and for a long time didn't think they did.
It's just funny to us.  ;D
(Something to lighten the mood, since I know you're comcerned about Chris' hearing loss, Celeste)

I literally do not know what the HELL is going on in the Michael Jackson fanbase.

For the last two days, I've watched two fans--one black, one white--squaring off about first Paris and her choice in her boyfriend, whom seems to REALLY like the Confederate flag (Paris eventually blocked the black fan because she literally would not shut the fudge up about it) and now the two fans are debating Michael Jackson's lineage and what caused his skin color to change.

I have been on mute about the whole thing because it's not my fight, no one is coming after me and I refuse to put myself in a place where I screw myself up with the Jackson family. (the black fan WAS going out of her way and publicly messaging/harassing Paris)
But on the other fight, the white fan thinks Michael is like...mixed or something and its just a huge fudge up on my twitter timeline. I'm eating my pizza and watching it waiting for it to blow over.
My people my people.

I called someone an a--hole for trying to start up something about Michael's paternity of Paris, not that it's anybody's business anyways, and then they started that same old arguement about Michael's skin and what caused his skin to go white.  I said "Michael had vitiligo" and then someone called me "so gullible." I just hate when people argue over who's child Paris actually is.  She was born through a sperm donor as far as we know?

That's all I said.  I just refuse to argue with a racist and risk being blocked from somewhere. >:(

First of all, thanks for defending Michael. Secondly, Michael's autopsy report noted he had evidence of vitiligo and his son Prince has it on one arm. And the thing is, Paris looks more like her mother Debbie than Michael although she does have his smile. But I get tired of people and let them have their ignorance. If ignorance is bliss they must be in a fool's paradise. Race comes into all all areas when I get into it with the Jacksons. I hear the same crap with 3T. Taj's wife is Brazilian, and TJ and Taryll's wife and partner are mixed race and its a hot ass mess getting into it with them. But it's still going down on Twitter as I type this. Last I looked, they were posting each other's pictures and making fun of each other's looks.  :(
Keeping out of it. Other fans are jumping in, but I want no parts of anything like that.

No problem.  I still liked Michael.  Was he crazy? Yes.  Was he a drug addict? Yes. Was he a pedophile? No! At least that's my take on it.  I think that Michael was and always will be the kind of person that you either loved or hated for whatever reason.  There was no denying his popularity in the 1970s and 1980s.  Dangling Blanket over the balcony when he was a baby probably didn't help things much but at the same time Michael was one of those people who needed help and didn't get it.

I never believed he was ever a pedophile I mean I never would. I wouldn't be a fan if I thought he was. But he actually saved one of his nephews from being molested. Taj--the one with the braids in my siggy--he was unfortunately abused by someone on his mother's side of the family as a child and he went and told Michael and Michael told his mother and you know, it got resolved. I'm sorry it happened to Taj, but his younger brothers and cousins probably got spared because of Michael's intervention. And Taj has said you know "My Uncle Michael saved me". But I don't even really entertain that notion. I have gotten up and walked away from someone mid-sentence trashing about Michael. I'm almost 30, I'm not going to slap a bitch out like I used to as a kid, but I'm not going to endure BS either. I mean, I know what I like and unless someone else is kicking in funds to buy my MJ stuff, they have no say in the matter.  :)  Most of my friends are like-minded, and while I don't mind if someone else has a differing opinion, if they go out of their way to attack me, I won't have it. A few have tried me, and I've handed out smackdowns so easily online they naysayers leave me alone.  :)

I'm very sorry that happened. I don't even use instagram. Every fanbase has some crazies. When I first got into 3T there was this one jackass that would harass them and tease them because their mother got murdered (saying sheesh like the killer deserved a medal) my best friend and I sacked him the fudge out publicly (these were back in MySpace days) but yeah I know the feeling when someone targets a celeb or seems to have an unwarranted vendetta against them. It's really ridiculous to me because it just shows how hateful and evil and lifeless a person truly is.  >:(  I hope Mark can fix everything though.

We'll be here all night. Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, The Plague Known As Bieber just to name a few. I grew up on people with real talent, not just the Jacksons, but people like James Brown and all the Motown Acts like the Supremes and Stevie Wonder...just people who were talent and had class. You don't see people with class anymore. Not celebs. I mean I looked up to Michael and wanted to help others like him. What will my daughter want to do whenever I have one?
Post a naked selfie on Instagram?  :( Use autotune to modulate her voice?

Well said, Apollonia. There is no class in today's acts. The nearest to class the more recent acts have is Adele and I'm not even a fan of hers. But she conducts herself with dignity and is all about the music rather than image.

Thanks guys. I just know what I came up on and what my parents allowed and didn't allow me to be exposed to as a kid and I'm happy I came up that way, seeing people like that. People being kind and courteous and down to earth, in spite of wealth or talent or etc, etc.

I mean its just weird. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like to see men and women conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen and yeah I mean its okay to cut loose once in a while but to just be egregious with it is just awful. Especially as a celebrity whether they like it or not, they are role models. Like I know I'm big on the Jacksons and at almost 30, I'm an adult, but grew up from 9 admiring them, and I know other younger people who are fans and looking up to them. My friend's cousin is 16, and another one of my friends has a nephew who is TWO. That's a huge gap. But if I had a child, I wouldn't be scared for her to see or listen to the Jacksons (not Siggy, he raps and likes to swear) but the rest are pretty decent.
Now with people its just anything and everything and they've got fancy labels for it to excuse it and I just don't feel that way about some things.
Some people just need more get up about themselves as my mom used to say.  :( Shames what the world is coming to.

I always liked the bands from the 1980s that had a punch to their image.  But I may be a bit partial to Platinum Blonde because they're a Canadian band.  But I also liked Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears and other bands from the 1980s.  :)

I was never into the New Romantic bands, I preferred folk like Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics. But at least they wrote their own songs and had something to offer which is more than today's shower do.

Andy Taylor of Duran Duran is married to the eldest daughter of my ex boss and it was because of this I met him. He's a bloody nice guy.

Because it's a pop culture forum.

Today, yours truly is celebrating.
As many of you know I've been trying to squeeze a tweet out of Taj Jackson for about 6 months, ever since I saw 3T on their reality show. After months I got hot when an acquaintance of mine got a tweet from Taj, so I kind of piggybacked on her success and kind of snidely mentioned it must be nice...and this happened:

I think I respect him even more for being as much of a smartass as I am!  ;D

I'm so relieved.  I'm relieved to hear that Mark Holmes didn't block us from his IG.  It turns out that someone he knew who was mentally ill reported us to IG.
I'm going to give it another week.  Mark takes forever to answer his e-mails and Facebook, IG, and Twitter PMs.  :P

Thanks y'all. The level of screaming I did... ;D

That's so odd. I hope everything works out and you get back in Instagram.  :)

I knew that there had to be some logical explination for why this stuff was happening.  I may not know Mark personally but I do know that he does care about his fans.  :D

I don't know what's more exciting, hearing from 3T or hearing from their father and uncles!

Platinum B and Me Update!

I think Mark is becoming more aware that I have a Tumblr page about the band because he retweeted a few of my tweets.  Since my Tumblr Page and my Twitter Feed are connected to one another the Tumblr posts end up on my Twitter feed.  :)

I'm so happy you got a message from PB, that's great!
(you don't run Twitter in "night" mode? The "day" mode blinds me!)

And I'm still on my same BS two years later:

What's weird is, I went and checked my tweet, Taj was NOT tagged, and while I follow him, he does NOT follw me, so I have no idea how my tweet even got to him. (also his wife Thayana tweeted me and I can't locate her tweet, but she's a sweetheart) And he was in the middle of shooting a music video too!
Weirder still is this:

I'm shooting in the dark and assuming Taj told his father (Tito) and that's how I got it because my tweet was just in general on my page--again, I follow The Jacksons but they don't follow me.
But it made my birthday really great to get a shout out.

I'm just happy that Mark is realizing what a true fan I am because I help in their online promotions.  :)  He retweeted what I wrote about Kenny MacLean, who died almost 10 years ago, and how I always try to post positive things about him on his birthday.

I've never had online luck with favorite bands, but I have had pictures taken with members of some at shows. I also had a like on Instagram from one of the opening acts for a show I'd seen a couple years ago, so does that count? I also started a Twitter not long ago and I'm up to 44 followers if  anyone wants to know mine.

I'm at over 200 followers and I'm following over 740 people, I'm at over 5,000 Tweets.  And yes I think that does count.  I just need to get my pictures done with the boys.
