Who is your favorite sitcom dad from the 50's,60's,70's,80's,90's OR today?

My all time favorite has to be Archie Bunker cause he reminds me of my OWN father.his grumpiness,always yelling at his wife,a constant bigot,always has something bad to say and sleeps in his chair. ;D

If we're picking father's like our own, I'd have to go with Ward Cleaver.  My dad rarely loses his temper, treats my mother and all of us kids with respect and has the patience of a saint. Even kind of looks like him, as he wears his hair the same way.  As far as enjoying the show, I like Tim Taylor.

Jack Arnold from the wonder years - My Dad loves me a lot and does a lot for me, and like The Wonder Year's Father, he'll let you know that he's proud of you and that he cares about you at the "special" moments, yet he seems ticked off most of the time and in a pestimestic mood.  May I say in his defense that life molds people into what they are.

No, I wouldn't.  Nothing personal, but my folks are perfect.  If I were half as perfect as them, I would have a very successful life.  They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary which says a lot in this day and age.

Same here, Mona! My parents just celebrated their 50th this year too. And I have to say, they are absolutely perfect in my eyes! Wonderful people  :)

The best sitcom father in my opinion was Coach Graham Lubbock from 'Growing Pains' and the spin-off 'Just the 10 of Us'

He had a busy job as a school basketball coach, and still kept his sanity and love for his wife alive while raising 4 teenage daughters, a younger daughter, an obnoxious son, and a newborn baby

Al Bundy was more than a sitcom father.  Al Bundy was a God who walked among men.

A lot of my friends wound up married with children.  With the exception of my own Dad, to the last man (and to about half of the women), they regret it.  I was lucky enough to have parents who didn't end up like Al and Peg.  But it was only through the wisdom of Al Bundy that I ever realized just how lucky I truly was.

Not from the 70's or 80's, but I chose other for Hank Hill.

I would love to have Al Bundy as my father.

There is no one on that list I would want as a father, except Cliff Huxtable.
I voted other.

My TV dad would be John Walton (Waltons) or Mike Brady.

John Walton was an honest hard working man, loved his kids. The man displayed integrity and was a wonderful husband to Olivia.

I really like SOOO many sitcom fathers!  Cliff Huxtable is, of course, one of the coolest sitcom fathers ever, but there are some 1950s sitcom fathers that I love, too,...including the father from "Hazel", the father from "The Patty Duke Show", and, of course, the uncle from "Bachelor Father", to name a few!

Archie Bunker would be a cool father to have. He would always be cranky and quite bitter, love his politics and have his view of the world.
